Kid Kruger, Thames Water are not forcing anybody to have a meter. They aren't even particularly encouraging it. They suggest you look to see if your bill may be cheaper if you have one. For some people, like me, it probably will be. If it isn't, I can go back to the old system. The meter is free to fit. Yes they may put prices up but I can't see what that has to do with having a meter?
-
I think they are pretty busy at the moment. I know some other people who are also considering a meter having just got their annual statement, or whatever it's called.

I'm going for it. It is free to fit for anyone I think, certainly in London. Look on Thames Water website. They have a useful comprehensive list of FAQs. There are places online you can do a calculation to work out roughly if it would be worth your while. I reckon I can halve my annual bill with a meter, but then I mostly live by myself. If you change your mind within the first twelve months, you can change back. I've got Thames Water coming to do the survey to make sure I can have a meter in a few weeks' time. I think it depends on various things go do with plumbing. Only applied online yesterday, and they phoned this morning to arrange the survey - I was impressed!

I'll check it out I'm presently with Plusnet and on some annual deal which is coming up for renewal, hence checking out options. But think I can't get rid of Landline unless I change to fibre thing? Technologically challenged :D

He has been harassing me constantly on Twitter since 11 February. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1646181,1646198#msg-1646198 I would like to know whether Blanche Cameron and others associated with SSW are in agreement with this person's modus operandi, given that he is apparently an "important" person in their campaign.

OK I wasn't going to boost his pathetic ego by mentioning this, but he's also been harassing me constantly on Twitter since 11 February. I have a Twitter account solely to publicise our folk music events, and he is using that to attack me because of posts I have made on this forum which are my own personal views and have nothing to do with these events. I have asked him not to use my full name on Twitter and he has continued to do so. The group which he is associated with should be ashamed. I notice that he is tweeting solely under his own name, so I presume he doesn't want the followers of his group to know what he is doing. Well, maybe it's about time they knew. He has also brought Chener Books into his tweets. I don't know what on earth he thinks he is doing, but I can't think he is attracting people to his viewpoint. He has also attempted to get a local "gossip" group to diss me/our music events on Twitter as well by including their name in his tweets, thankfully without success.

Dulwich Medical Centre CQC report out: "Requires Improvement"

Yeh, let's be positive, eh? -
Before I finally get rid of my landline, is there anything I ought to take into account before it's too late??

I don't really care what it's taken if it continues like that. -

Where is it? Is there a carpark? Hmmm. Having just spent some time googling, I discover there is indeed a carpark, at The Blenheimn Centre (?), where apparently almost everybody visiting it has been fined ?100 because of some bizarre system where you have to pay the parking fee by mobile, but get cut off before you can actually pay. Great way to make money for the people owning the carpark, obviously. Though apparently the Centre has just been sold, together presumably with the carpark. Damn. I was so excited at the thought of a Wilko within reasonable travelling distance :))

That's very clever. I hope they catch whoever did it.

Please don't stop contributing, dbboy, I for one value your contributions. It's important that information which is wrong for whatever reason is questioned. ETA: And that applies whether it's wrong information given by people who broadly support the existing plans of the council, or wrong information given by people who do not support those plans. I think it's very important (and not just on this thread, but in general) that statements put forward as fact have supporting evidence which can be provided if requested, and where appropriate (for example statistics) their source.

I was pretty gobsmacked this morning when I phoned DMC for an appointment (for something not urgent) expecting to wait weeks, and got one for Monday morning. Credit where credit's due, I think that's pretty damn good. And I just got a text reminder, as well! -

ETA: Now definitely not able to come, as grandchildren definitely staying, hope to come in May! -

I've lost track of the questions I've asked and not had a response to. I think they mainly relate to asking for evidence to be provided in relation to various statements made, which is possibly why no response has been forthcoming. When I get a spare moment I will go back through the thread and make a note of them all. Maybe you could do the same. Then we could both post them all up again in one place.

I asked before and got no answer, so I'll try again. Please can you tell me how you are defining a tree in this context. Thanks.

Unfortunately in this area, where most of the housing stock is terraces or semis, it's inevitable that there will be noise of some sort from adjoining houses because soundproofing is never going to be great and also sound travels in weird ways. I once lived in a house with teenage learner drummers on both sides :)) But noise, disruption and finally lack of light due to major building work for months on end is a completely different kettle of fish, surely.
