  1. Thanks Gotta, that's useful.

No, on my phone when it updates it tells you what it is going to do and you have the option to update or not. There hasn't been an update recently, it's still on version 5.1

The Adobe isn't an app, or at least it is not showing up as one :( If it was, it would be easy to get rid of. And this is not about updating apps, but thanks.

  5. Obviously I have not knowingly installed this, and the message I get is that the phone is optimising (sic) apps. I don't want to do a factory reset, it's a pain in the a**e. I will investigate further!!
  6. :( Maybe that's a last resort then. I put washing powder (I did use bio) down the sink and the overflow (it's a butler type sink) last night and the smell does seem better this morning, but maybe the smell of the powder is just masking the other smell :(
  7. My phone has been behaving oddly for a while - very slow - then a couple of days back it just froze up, and when I turned it off and on again, it started optimising 72 apps - the first time unfortunately I was out and using data, and I don't have unlimited data on my contract. Now this morning whilst on this forum, it has twice come up with a screen just saying Adobe Marketing Cloud, with no way to get off it except, again, to turn the phone off. And now the f-ing phone is optimising 72 apps again. Thankfully I'm almost at the end of my contract and due a new phone, but can anybody suggest what could be wrong? Do mobiles get viruses?? Have I got one?
  8. Hey thanks all. Just sitting in the garden and there seems to be something BUBBLING in the drain?!? Aaaaarrrrgggghhhh :(
  9. I have a vile smell coming from my kitchen sink (the plughole not the actual sink obv). So far I have tried: Disinfectant Bleach Bicarbonate of soda and white vinegar Ecozone enzyme sticks None of them have worked. Can anybody suggest anything? I asked at the DIY shop but they only had one citrusy thing which was quite expensive and didn't look particularly strong. The drain where the water goes to at the back of the house doesn't seem to smell, and there is no apparent blockage as water is running away OK. Grrrrr. I have people staying soon and at present the house stinks of drains :(
  10. Not unless "wood" is a disallowed word ?!? Oh, maybe I had the title in capitals? I will double check. But not now :) Thanks.
  11. I posted a "for sale" item a short while ago (Fence/roofing slats) but it's not showing up on the page. I tried to post it again and got a message to say it was a duplicate post. Where has it gone?!

There's a country park and a lake though :) And a clock tower :) And it's a walk away from Crystal Palace aka Upper Norwood, with nice caffs etc. And a short distance from Croydon if you're into that kind of shopping ...... I think South Norwood has a lot going for it if you can ignore the current state of the high street, which I'm sure will change for the better.

  14. "we?re giving a trial to two ladies this morning, as females make up 40 per cent of our workforce" I'd run a mile from any job where my potential boss referred to me as a "female" (or indeed a "lady") :(
  15. I love them all :) Nobody's mentioned the two black women - Sandy and ?Sandra? - they're brilliant too :)

    Moth trouble

Just looking to see how long the sticky pads for the traps were effective, and found some information on this site which is quite useful: https://www.mothprevention.com/pages/5-steps-to-moth-control and this one: http://www.insectslimited.com/faq Traps evidently effective for sixty days, but really only give you an idea of the extent of the infestation. Unless it's quite mild, they won't work by themselves, and in any case obviously don't control females, larvae or eggs.

    Diet

Particularly if you are very overweight, you can lose a lot at the start of a diet due to water loss, particularly if you cut carbohydrates. Good in a way because it can motivate you to stay on the diet, but that level of loss won't continue, and would soon go back on if you went back to your former eating pattern.

There is a difference between the occasional interaction and it happening frequently, including on your own doorstep and sometimes after dark. There is a difference between a genuine homeless beggar asking for money for food and a paid chugger asking you to sign up for a direct debit.
  19. They aren't collecting one-off donations though, they are asking people to sign up to make regular donations by direct debit. And unless you have a great deal of spare money, it is just not possible to donate to every one of these undoubtedly worthy causes. I don't consider myself emotionally underdeveloped (though some of course may disagree :)) ) but nevertheless I don't like being approached in the street, and still less in my own home, by people asking me to make regular payments to "their" charities. Yes we are free to smile and say "no thank you" or whatever, but the fact is, I (and I expect many people) do donate to charity, but that is to charities of my own choosing, and because I don't like chuggers does not make me a nasty person, I think.

I used to have loads of starlings and now none come. Weird, eh? That poor starling made a lot of noise, but it was in broad daylight not after dark!

Can't remember it's name). Can't remember if there was anything in between, but the shoe shop originally had a different name I think, and certainly very different stock.

Have you never heard the expression used by a hungry person "I could murder a (insert name of food item here)", for example? Anyway apologies, maybe I should change the thread title to "Birds being very loudly killed in Crystal Palace Road?!?" but somehow it just doesn't have the same impact .....

  24. Is this the one in East Dulwich Road?
  25. It seems the landlord has taken back the Spanish restaurant in North Cross Road as of yesterday :( There are notices in the window. What a shame, all that work done on it and then it never really opened :(
