He is an excellent councillor and works really hard, and has always responded really quickly and effectively to issues I have raised with him. -

In particular, I find the staff lovely. And the queues are no worse than in any other supermarket.

I did horticultural training in the grounds next to the cemetery, which we visited to look at grounds maintenance etc.. Training stopped being done there many years ago. I'm not sure what your point is. And yes I have been to Nunhead Cemetery on many occasions.

However, their "guarantees" consist solely of a refund - because they are based in Germany, they don't have the infrastructure in the UK to mend or replace faulty appliances. Or at least, not when I had a problem.

However, the points I am making do not depend on my having been there. Now perhaps you could answer my question above? Have you actually read my post? ETA: It is pointless trying to have a reasoned discussion when you do not appear to be taking in what others are saying. This has been a dominant feature of all the threads on this subject. Do you think that by starting another one people will conveniently have forgotten the previous discussions? ETA: I did not mean to suggest that you started this one.

My allotment would be defined as a wild wood in a year or so by your definition, henryb, unless I constantly weeded out all the many tree seedlings in it. There are many beautiful green areas around here - including actual historic woodland - without trying to pretend that something is what it isn't. It has nothing to do with "not seeing the beauty in it".

What happened to the bee? How can I not have noticed?! I liked the bee! -
uncleglen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Since Sainsbury's do price comparisons with > Asda...I'm staying with Sainsbury's Surely they only do price comparison on branded goods like Heinz? I buy mostly shops' own brands. I am always astounded (in a good way) at how little I have to pay at the checkout when I shop in Lidl.

No, but another window company did say that they used acoustic glass in Heathrow's meeting rooms. I didn't get them because of plane noise specifically, the fact that it's now very much less is a bonus :)

Until I had the new windows yes, the planes woke me up. And yes it's terrible in ED. When I moved here in 1991 it was indeed a pretty peaceful area. Now it isn't. It's still quite green though, thank goodness :)

The Co-Op in Lordship Lane doesn't have a car park, does it?

I knew some extremely well off people about ten years back who shopped in Lidl, in particular (at that time) for the parmesan. My reaction was "Lidl?!?!?!?!" But when I actually went there, I could see why. Though TBH if I had that amount of money I wouldn't go out of my way to shop there, however good value the parmesan was :))

I really admire him for that. It must have taken a lot of guts to stick to his principles when he knew all eyes would be on him and the inevitable criticism follow. I just saw it on the news earlier. I wondered whether I would have mouthed it with my fingers crossed behind my back under those circumstances. Good for him. Not so much a breath of fresh air as a gust!

Surely we're talking about common courtesy and consideration to others, aren't we? Why should you expect special treatment just because you're a woman (unless you're pregnant)? If someone is old or disabled or otherwise clearly suffering through having to stand, then the kind thing to do is to offer them a seat regardless of gender, surely?
