Roadworks in Lordship Lane at end of North Cross Road
Sue replied to Sue's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Three people there around 11.30 loading bricks onto pallets. Sign says start date was 15 June and end date is 24 August, so they have six days to finish. And yes, it's Conway. -

That's true, but if initial perceptions are formed via a video which seems to reflect only part of the community, then those apparently excluded may well be turned off the project. I understand how this came about, but I think katanita's idea of adding some bits to the video is a good one. And I think the project is brilliant :)

Roadworks in Lordship Lane at end of North Cross Road

It's nearly a month since I started this thread, and the "work" (hollow laugh) had been going on for ages even at that point. It is beyond ridiculous now. OK, they had to wait for some materials (so one wonders why they didn't wait for them to come before they started. The muddling through approach to building - sadly I know it well :( ). They've now got the materials. Apparently. So why aren't they (expletive deleted) finishing this? -

I think you find that what I was communicating comes up as the top acronym in the Urban Dictionary when you google STFU :)) But I do like some of your other options, Fox, I'll bear them in mind for the future :) -

I can't believe what I am reading here. Sorry Fox but you have crossed a line. My grandchildren have just gone home after spending a week with me and my OH in ED. We had a great time out and about - planetarium, museums, feeding the ducks/pigeons in the park (not bread), healthy packed lunches every day etc etc and SHOCK HORROR we went to the pub and we DIDN'T EVEN EAT THERE (apart from crisps) WE JUST HAD DRINKS. And my OH and I had ALCOHOLIC DRINKS whilst sitting with the children. On the Palmerston roof garden which they greatly enjoyed. Do you actually know anything about children? Apart of course from your own childhood. Because if not, I suggest you stop making a fool of yourself on this thread and just STFU. You really don't do yourself any favours when you pontificate about things you appear to know absolutely nothing about. -

bob Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Making the pavement almost twice as wide and the > road twice as narrow ?????? That's what it looks like. WTF? And they now seem to have some sort of ramp at the end of North Cross Road? It looked at first as if they were going to close the road off completely (permanently) at the Lordship Lane End, given the changes of levels they have now introduced, but no - cars will have to go up. And then down. Let's hope the end result is worth all this aggro to pedestrians, bus users and drivers over such a long period of time. Grrrrr. -

So you'd continue to sit at the outside edge of a double front seat, with your mate at the outside edge of the other double front seat, despite the fact that a couple requested to have one of those front doubles you were using up? Regardless of whether there were seats elsewhere, sorry but I think that's just being difficult and unfriendly for the sake of it. But as always, each to their own.

I currently have a small second freezer under the stairs, below the gas meter (I have a fridge freezer in the kitchen). I enquired about moving the meter. It is very expensive. To move mine outside would have cost getting on for a thousand pounds. It depends on distance etc.. And the electricity meter and fuse box (or whatever it's called now) are still under the stairs, anyway. I removed all the panelling some months back so that I could store things under the stairs more easily while my kitchen was being replaced. I had intended to replace it with several doors, for easier access, but I'm now considering just leaving the space open altogether. I would have liked to put a larger chest freezer in there, but I think there could be problems with opening the lid fully because of the slant of the stairs. I haven't measured that up yet. I personally wouldn't want a washing machine in there for various reasons.

rahrahrah Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > If there were other seats available I don't think > it really fair to ask them to move. Even when they're hogging the whole of the front of the bus? I think it's reasonable to ask that four people can see out the front rather than just two. But each to their own. I wouldn't have pressed the point if they'd refused.

What REALLY REALLY REALLY annoys me are two people travelling together, one of whom sits upstairs in the front left seat and the other one in the front right. So they talk to each other across the gap and there's a spare seat next to each. I asked one of them politely to move the other day (the one on the left, obv), much to the embarrassment of my OH. He did, with rather bad grace - but they then proceeded to diss me from the front right seat in some East European (I think) language. Which I couldn't understand, but I sort of picked up the gist :))
