Dulwich Medical Centre - Any good?

JDR Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- they have a new > system where you sit and wait. xxxxxxx When I was younger, that was the "old" system, and having an appointments system was supposed to mean less of a wait ...... With this "new" system, what are they going to do if they get so many people turning up at the same time that the wait could turn into hours? And will there be some sort of cut-off time, otherwise the doctors could be working 24/7?! I can see there are pros and cons of both systems - for example there will no longer be "missed appointments" with all the waste of time that entails - but oh dear, there seems to be no ideal solution, does there? -
I thought they were sixties/seventies trousers, somewhat akin to loon pants :))

You can save photos on Snapfish, too. I don't think you actually have to buy anything from them. Not sure how the amount of free storage compares to Flickr, though. Or you could store them all on one or more external hard drives or memory sticks? Depends whether you trust they will be safe online in the future, I suppose.

Or are the caps the hipsters' Winter plumage, now moulted for the Summer? Or are flat caps too now irretrievably uncool and all gone to charity shops?

If you google London stock bricks you will find loads of suppliers of reclaimed bricks :) I just did because I thought London stock bricks also came in red, but seems I was wrong and that only the yellow ones are known as London stock bricks.

Seeing all the flowers in bloom in people's front gardens whilst out and about :) Blissfully quiet lunchtime on Friday (I think it was) with no planes, builders, alarms, sirens or shrieking, just birdsong :)

Where do flat caps come into this? Or don't they? We started giving pubs a flat cap rating, but have noticed fewer around lately (caps not pubs :) ).

Thanks for that, inTexas, but the issue is that my present insurance company told me that because "subsidence" was different to "ground movement" because they were specified separately, and that my claims were apparently noted down in their records as "ground movement", that I could truthfully say that I had never had "subsidence". I'm not convinced that this is the case, and I don't want to end up in a situation where I have a claim refused because of non-disclosure. I should have got something in writing from them, and stupidly I didn't. I just have the notes from my phone conversation with them. I guess I can in time for next year though .....

Thanks MyNameHere, I already have the Which report, and there's a lot of info on the MoneySavingExpert website as well. It is the subsidence/ground movement distinction (or otherwise) which I was keen to get people's views (or more hopefully expertise) on. I think I probably have to phone a few brokers for advice rather than trying to get quotes online. it's just a hassle when these days you don't expect to have to do that!

I really really don't want to do a full reset. I think I will wait and see if I get any more weird problems, given that I'm only three months (I think) away from an upgrade. Thanks for your help everyone!

I have combined buildings and contents insurance, just come up for renewal and I have a fortnight to change (or not). I have always thought that in 1996 and 2001 I had subsidence claims, therefore when looking for another quote I have always said so (and generally therefore been refused cover). My insurance company was also involved with another issue in 2009 which was potentially subsidence, however the claim was declined although they paid an arm and a leg for a brief visit by a surveyor. I had a telephone conversation with my current insurer last year during which I was told that there were four categories of movement - subsidence/heave/landslip/ground movement and that both my claims (plus the one declined) had been categorised as "ground movement" rather than "subsidence". Now this seems odd to me. The first one was cracking due to differential movement between the front bay and the rest of the house, due to different levels of foundation or something, and subsequently some sort of rod was put through the bay, and the second one was cracking due to leaking drains (or something to do with drains anyway), which was dealt with by dealing with the drains. The person I spoke to last year said that it would depend on the underwriter whether the ground movement was classified as subsidence or not, but surely either it is or it isn't? My problem now is, if I go online to get quotes, I will (probably) be asked if I have ever had subsidence or been refused insurance. So in the first case, can I now answer "no"??? And in the second case, if I answer "yes" the thing will go no further, but if I answer "no" on the basis that I was refused it because I unwittingly gave wrong information, would I be lying? Also - I'm in a three bed terrace in SE22 and my renewal quote for combined buildings and contents insurance is ?732 with ?1000 excess for "subsidence, heave or landslip". Does that sound reasonable? Because if so, I'm not sure I can be bothered faffing about getting other quotes :) Though if I did I might be able to get my existing premium lowered (as I did with my car insurance last year) whilst staying with the same insurer.

Let's hope I don't press "send" by mistake or some recipients may be in for a shock :))

Bluerevolution Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Have you downloaded an anti-virus app ? Will try AVG, had it on my laptop at one time but it ended up causing problems with another programme, can't remember what now.

StraferJack Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > another possibility > > the voice recognition was switched on in a room > with other people/radio/tv and tried to make sense > of what it heard xxxxxx I can assure you I have been nowhere where "call of duty" may have been mentioned, and in any case I was asleep in another room :))
-
It said "All of music so tonight why that's so raven call of duty yes send to play not not certain the book of a plane" :)) :)) :)) And no I couldn't have typed it myself in some trance or something, as it appeared whilst the mobile was in my office charging overnight..... the "music" and "raven" (used to be a band, changed their name) could have been in texts I sent, but deffo not "call of duty" :))
-
Just spoken to Orange who basically said nobody would bother to hack into my phone :)) :)) :)) And that it must be "an anomaly". And just to delete the draft text. Oh, that's alright then. :(
-
Somebody/something, ie not me, has drafted a text on a message thread on my mobile. This is a bit disconcerting to say the least. It doesn't make sense, but has words and phrases in which could have been picked up from texts I've sent in the past. Am trying to contact Orange (soon to be RIP) but they're "receiving a very high number of calls, blah blah blah". Can anybody shed any light? I'm worried somebody could be somehow making calls from my number as well, even though I have the phone in front of me ..... :( Is this a more widespread problem?
