  1. Dulwich Folk Choir meets upstairs at the EDT on a Tuesday night at 7pm, led by the lovely Aimee Leonard. Mix of well known songs like "Down to the River to Pray" and "Bright Morning Stars", plus things like "Sally Free and Easy" plus traditional songs from Orkney, where Aimee comes from. And usually some of the choir continue afterwards (without Aimee!) with an Alt Choir singing whatever comes to mind - Beatles, Kinks, obscure stuff from the musos in the choir :)) Also a good number of men, who sometimes outnumber the women :) Also no audition and no need to read music, in fact there isn't any music, all learned by ear. It's pay per session, ?4. Spoilt for choice for choirs round here, it seems! ETA: You may have seen/heard us at the Dulwich Festival Fair on Goose Green, or at the Crystal Palace Street Party, or at the Christmas Fair in Nutbrook (?) Road last year.

  4. Don't click on that link anybody, it's almost certainly spam :( S/he has posted the same link on several other unrelated threads as well :(

Somebody was trying to help out their neighbour by finding somebody to board up their window for them, and you told them to do it themselves and it wasn't rocket science. Personally, I'd say that was "snotty and rude". And English is my first language (and I'd say "if English isn't their first language, I can recommend a course" was a pretty snotty and rude comment, as well. By all means post on here as rudely as you like - but don't then accuse other people of rudeness!

  7. Ann Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- Would definitely register as door to door free if possible. xxxxxx So would I. Had the RSPCA knocking yesterday, during the day however. I give money to charity, but I want to choose what cause I give to and when, not be approached in the street and in my own home in a way which feels quite intrusive. I used to be as polite as possible, but am increasingly going into Grumpy Old Woman mode. Poor people who are doing the knocking, however. I hope they are getting a decent wage. Paid for by the donations to the charity, I suppose, unless they are volunteers.

  10. I'm bemused. If this thread is likely to get the forum sued, why hasn't it been removed, or reported so that it can be removed if mods haven't seen it? Apologies if somebody discussing the threat to sue has already reported it.

Maybe I could fashion some tiny concertinas out of matchsticks :)

Who are these people?

ETA: And yes, face to face is real, so it's a bit hard to understand why you chose to call a pub owner a "knob" on a public forum, with no immediate explanation, and no apparent provocation save the mention of his pub on a thread. ETA: And subsequently called him even worse, which I'm not going to repeat here.

Peckhamgatecrasher Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Dazzer's spelling is strangely reminiscent of Da > Manager's. xxxxxxx Registered 2008 though, Da Manager 2013. Oh sad, sad person that I am :) ETA: And generally, the lower case "i"s are a CT giveaway, which don't appear in Dazzer's - er - case. ETA: Though the use of "slating" is interesting, I give you ....

I had to go there a year or so back because my sister wanted something from Lakeland as a birthday present. I could feel the life slowly ebbing from me ....... But each to their own, eh! I pretty much hate shopping centres anyway. ETA: I think there is still a small branch of Boots in Forest Hill. If you order something from Boots on-line, you can collect it there, which is quite useful.
  19. Mine would be no food, just Stella. Like it or lump it. Perhaps you're right Annette Curtain, I should apply :)) (I'd burn in hell first ...... )
  20. Brilliant! :)) :)) :))
  21. Bromley is pretty dismal. Are you specifically wanting to avoid Oxford Street, as otherwise I'd have thought that was your best bet - not hard to get to from ED.

Wild guess, I know. ETA: Would you like to share with us your definition of "the Victor Meldrew type"?

  25. Oh duh :)) ETA: Sorry, that was in response to Jeremy and the comment about the trio
