I was going to get a tee shirt with Brian on! Don't know whether I can bring myself to now :( Apparently there's an online petition to bring him back, but it would be a bit pathetic to sign it, wouldn't it? Oh dear, I'm off to look for it :)) :)) :)) ETA: Oh dear oh dear, here it is: https://www.change.org/petitions/seth-macfarlane-and-fox-broadcasting-company-bring-brian-griffin-back-to-family-guy ETA: It's got over thirty thousand signatures so far!!!!

How could they? I only just found out they've killed Brian in Family Guy! He was my favourite character! That's totally ruined my day :( :(

They missed a great opportunity last week when they were featured in Time Out (page 26) and the piece gave their website address. I'm sure many people seeing the words "Sustainable Gastropub" would have wanted to find out more - but the website is currently just a white page with five blank rectangles at the top of it :( and doesn't even have a couple of paragraphs to explain the present situation or what is holding up the restaurant opening :( OK this will also be construed as "negative comment" I'm sure, but - the Time Out piece says that The Patch's hydroponic growing system "will use 90 per cent less water, fuel and fertiliser than conventional planting." But I'm sure I read somewhere that they imported it from the States, so if that is true, doesn't that rather cancel out the local sustainability thing? Is this system really that much better than what is available in the London shops selling hydroponics equipment? And doesn't the sun (free) usually fuel the growing of veg? Or is this system going to be in a heated glasshouse or under lights indoors? Interested to see how this will work. Just googled hydroponics, but life is too short to read it all! Good luck to them if they make a go of it, and I see they will be getting "extra fruit and veg from gardens and allotments" (though I wouldn't have thought allotment holders would be allowed to sell or even give their produce to a commercially run restaurant, especially given that most allotment sites these days have very long waiting lists of people wanting to grow fruit and veg for their own family's use?) Edited for crap grammar.

What's going on with the phones at DMC??

Penguin68 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > Either which way waiting for an hour in a queue to > be answered by a GP's receptionist is wholly > unacceptable xxxxxxx Of course it's unacceptable, but if as stated above they have had two staff leave at once, presumably at short notice, it's (a bit) understandable? What they should do is put a message on the answering system explaining that there will be a longer wait than usual and suggesting the best times to phone? -

Another comment by somebody else says the manager told her it had a "kitchen gas issue". ETA: But they don't seem to have tweeted anything since the end of October.

XXXXX Thanks Mr Ben, I guess their interpretation of certain words is just different from mine. As you say, some of it is explained in the article. ETA: Though not really the "100%", which doesn't really lend itself to other interpretations .....

I can't see anything about it any more on either their Facebook page or Twitter? https://www.facebook.com/dulwichpatch And if it did, who were the VIPs? Local VIPs (whoever they might be :) ) or nationally known VIPs?? ETA: Nothing at all now on their website, either, unless they've changed the website address? http://www.patchindulwich.co.uk/ ETA: And sorry to those of you who say I am negative, but this is what is at the top of their Twitter page: "Creating Dulwich/London's first 100% self-sustaining gastro-pub! Opening Very Soon!!!!" How can they possibly be "100% self-sustaining"? Are they going to have fish ponds and pigs on the roof as well as the vertical vegetable growing apparatus? And a windfarm? Have I misunderstood the definition of "self-sustaining"? ETA: I really am looking forward to eating my hat (I am preparing an edible hat as I type), especially as - as I previously fully admitted - I did not think The Patch would get this far, and I was wrong. So I will be only too happy to be proved wrong again.

Peckhamgatecrasher Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Don't know if it's legally possible, but why don't > you list what you have, list what you want and see > if you can do a house swap? Someone in Nunhead > may be desparate to move to ED. xxxxxxx You must be psychic, PGC, I was thinking exactly the same thing yesterday. But I'm pretty certain I would still have to pay stamp duty, and in fact all the moving expenses (survey, solicitor, van etc) apart from the estate agent's fees. But as the stamp duty is the largest lump, it's deffo worth checking out! And in fact I had already hatched plans to find Nunhead houses which didn't involve estate agents ..... I had already had three estate agents round, who all valued my house at around the same level, so I wasn't going to bother with any more at this stage. I only agreed to see the fourth because their person dealing with a (nice) house I looked at in Nunhead on Saturday told me (wrongly) that the other three agents had undervalued my house. This, of course, was standard estate agent speak, and before their valuer had seen it. I knew he was wrong, but hey, I have shedloads of time (is that grammatical?) to show round estate agents, no? I haven't given up quite yet ..... something will happen one way or the other in due course! I must admit, weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks (months, then) of building work (kitchen side extensions) in two adjoining houses at the back of mine, including what my OH said sounded like a blokes' night out (constant shouting at tops of voices in the garden all day) and then being woken up by drilling and what sound like circular saws every morning including early on Saturday and then 9am on bloody SUNDAY morning, has not helped my warm feelings towards where I live now :)) It's going on now as I type :( How can it possibly be taking so long??? Anyway, I guess I must be expecting to stay here for a while as I am just off to plant some bulbs :) ETA: Numbers, yes, I could/will consider downsizing, but it would be a mammoth task if you saw the amount of stuff I have amassed over the years, despite constant "decluttering", hollow laugh :) And I have things like a piano which need space.

unlurked Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > That's a shame, Sue. Have you considerd Penge or > Sydenham? xxxxxx Not really because it would be too far away from where our gigs are, and also one of the reasons I like Nunhead is because of the amount of green space. I've got nothing against either Penge or Sydenham otherwise! ETA: Ah. I have just realised you are referring to the other thread. Thought it was rather a polite post :))
-
Oh well. It looks as though the price difference between ED and Nunhead would be swallowed up by stamp duty and other moving costs, so unless I downsize it ain't gonna happen. I was sort of hoping to be able to upsize, to get a bigger garden! Just had a rather depressing visit from (yet another) estate agent who said that my "charming" and "characterful" house would be improved with a side extension and French doors to the garden (thus removing much of its charm and character and turning it into an ED clone - albeit one worth more :)) ). Seems I shall have to learn to love ED again, and resign myself to twenty minute walks to the Nunhead pubs :))
