Hi, you could try knocking on the doors of houses near the sorting office to ask if they've had problems with noise. A way to meet/check out your prospective new neighbours, too :) You could also have an early start one day and go to the area one morning to check out the noise level for yourself - bad time of year, I know, but the weather's not as cold as it has been at the moment!

I'm genuinely interested to know your view here!

He's a really nice guy. Presumably this other woman is taking business from him. But I'm a bit bemused, because there have been women selling the Big Issue outside the Co-Op for years.

The Dulwich Folk Choir meets upstairs at the EDT every Tuesday night at 7pm. No auditions, everybody welcome whatever standard, and you can choose what part you want to sing for each song. Choir members can also suggest songs they would like to do. The Choir leader is Aimee Leonard. Its ?4 an evening. Its a very friendly choir with people of all ages which has been going since January 2012. There's a very good mix of men and women. You don't need to read music, in fact there isnt any!!! We sing songs from various cultures but based in folk music as it's a folk choir. We're doing some seasonal songs at the moment for obvious reasons.

I'd have a go myself but feeling a bit fragile this morning .....

Many thanks. xxxx Do people suddenly become so different on their fiftieth birthday that they feel the need to stop doing the things they used to do and suddenly start mixing only with other people who have also reached their fiftieth birthday? I thought this sort of thinking had stopped years ago - how very sad to find that it hasn't. We are all individuals with all sorts of different interests - why define us by our ages? I'm in my sixties, and I'd run a mile if I thought I was going anywhere where anybody under 50 was excluded. No wonder people still feel the need to lie about their age, grrrrrr. Now I'll go back to my crochet and jam making - oh, I forgot, the younger generation are into those now, aren't they, better find something more suited to my mature years. Not. Oh yeh, and I met my (younger) partner at the party of a mutual friend half my age. Good thing I didn't pass up the party to go to an over-fifties supper club :))

Thank God (or whatever) Romney didn't get in. How do people like that get so far? I know we've had some crap prime ministers, but really ..... sometimes Americans just seem to back anyone who vaguely appears to be breathing .....

Yes, > I did use a match pot and was obsessive about > which colour to go for. xxxxxx The problem is, the same paint will look different in different lights and on different walls. What you can do is to still use a trial pot, but instead of painting direct on the wall paint some large-ish sheets of paper. Then you can put them in different places in the room and see how they look at different times of day and in natural and artificial light. I agree you should re-paint it. You'll never be happy with it if it isn't what you want now, however you try to accessorize it. ETA: Sadly though, you may not be able to get the absolute exact colour you want. I had a particular shade in mind, couldn't get a match at all and ended up with my default position of white :(

I do find the zoom control rather fiddly, but the quality of the pictures it takes is excellent. When I was travelling (before the days of digital) I lugged around a Canon SLR with a Tamron lens that went from wide angle to zoom (28 - 200? in pre-digital numbers), got some excellent pix but think I'd probably take something rather smaller if I did it again! ETA: A polarising filter is very useful if you're going to Australia (if these things are still used?!) ETA: Have a great time :)

You could google those models and see what reviews they've had from users and mags?

decorative art Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The Question should be, has anyone tried to go to > a grotto in W1 with two children under Five? > xxxxxx The Question should be, why should somebody take advantage of the difficulties of taking small children up to town by charging frankly ridiculous prices for a local visit to Santa, real reindeer or not. This may be Dulwich/East Dulwich, but not everybody can afford to shell out ?18 a child plus money for adults plus money for photos etc.. Are people allowed to take their own photos? I'm guessing probably not, but happy to be proved wrong. ETA: And last time I bought a takeaway for a small child, it didn't cost ?18 :))

Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > "Thank God for the NHS"?? You must be joking. xxxxxxx No, I'm not joking. I can't afford private healthcare (and don't believe in it anyway) and on the whole I've got nothing but praise for the treatment I've had on the NHS (apart from the "consultant" accompanied by a load of students who diagnosed a ruptured ovarian cyst/peritonitis as food poisoning ...... but private healthcare doesn't exactly have a great record on things like that, either) Would you rather we did away with the NHS and had a system like they do in the States? The NHS (and education) started to deteriorate in this country when income tax was reduced in order to gain votes for the Tories, in my opinion. What did people think their tax was being used for, FFS? ETA: Sorry for the rant, I'm ill :) As you were .....
