  1. What sort of age were the kids? Very little ones might be just focused in on the sweeties and didn't think to say please or thank you? Were their parents with them?
  2. Yeh and the photos are presumably extra money on top of the ?18 .....
  3. Actually it can be offensive, see below. Adds hastily, but despite being in the relevant age group I wasn't personally offended. (But I'll defend the right of anybody else to be offended :)) ) geriatric [ˌdʒɛrɪˈ?trɪk] adj 1. (Medicine) of or relating to geriatrics or to elderly people 2. Facetious, derogatory, or offensive (of people or machines) old, obsolescent, worn out, or useless n 1. (Medicine) an elderly person 2. Derogatory an older person considered as one who may be disregarded as senile or irresponsible See also psychogeriatric [from Greek gēras old age + iatric] And yes, surely there can be little more left to say about the Iceland / M&S thing, unless there is more actual news about what is happening to the building .....

  5. FatherJack Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > My experience has been poor service since my phone > t/f to EE...hope it gets better and soon! xxxxxxx I'm with Orange and haven't had a problem at all, but can't say specifically today as the phone is using my home WiFi. No problem with texts, calls or downloading stuff today, and no problem yesterday when I wasn't at home.
  6. peckhamboy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > ?18 for a child though? How are they getting them upstairs in the first place? There isn't a lift ..... ETA: Ah - just realised it says Dulwich Park. I thought it was the Lodge upstairs at the EDT :))
  7. I also have no hesitation in recommending Russell. He did a great job on my bay roof - admired by all who see it :) - and was efficient, reliable, friendly and reasonably priced. I'd definitely use him again. ETA (9 December 2020) The bay roof I have now had to be rebuilt last year as part of insurance work due to subsidence, and as the insurers arranged it, it was not done by Russell. Therefore (if anybody knows which my house is) please don't think the bay roof was done by him. I would rather it had been!

Otherwise, it's not clear quite what point you're trying to make, as actually the figures don't really "speak for themselves", do they?
  9. fuzzyboots Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- No such sights like this down in ED. nor the owls, woodpeckers, jays and peacock. xxxxxx My OH saw a jay whilst waiting at ED Station earlier this year :) And I once saw a greater spotted woodpecker in the land between Dulwich Hospital and the railway line :)

    Ladies or women?

Voyageur Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I get pretty irritated when I am only given the > option of Ms (as opposed to Miss/Mrs/Ms) on any > form that I have to fill in. xxxxxxxx I get pretty irritated when I am only given the option of Mrs/Miss :)) I have never understood why men are not differentiated by their marital status (not sure if that's grammatical, sorry) whilst women are.

    piano lessons

I was in Cheners bookshop recently when Roksana came in with a beautiful notice for the notice board with a tiny (origami?) 3D piano on it! I wrote down her mobile number, which is 07796 173583. I have grade 8 piano but haven't played for a long time, and I was so taken with her ad that I think I may have some lessons - I've even just ordered a new piano stool :) ETA: My sight reading has always been a bit crap, so I'm encouraged to read the posts above :)
  14. susierose Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Who mentioned colour??????????? xxxxxxx Er, you did. "They were not white or English and if they were i would say so!"
  15. nav8art Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Sue Re the long walk home surely you have a > subsidised travel card bless xxxxxx My post wasn't referring to myself. Why do you assume that everybody who doesn't have much money has a subsidised travel card? I believe you only get one if you are over 60 or claiming disability benefit. And yes, I'd also like to know what the "bless" signifies.
  16. I think you need to be in pain to be seen by an emergency dental care clinic. There are several NHS dentists around ED, LondonLogCo, I'm sure any of them would fit you in as a priority case if you have cracked a tooth. Surely more convenient than trekking up to Guys.
  17. susierose Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Well one of the things police ask is to describe > them.............are they white, black, or tall, > short ect ect ............so whats the problem > here with saying what they looked like or their > nationality is ..... They were not white or > English and if they were i would say so! so what > is the problem here?? xxxxxxx "The problem here" is that you didn't describe them. You made an assumption about their specific country of origin which was apparently based on - well, what? Do tell us. the fact that they were "not white or English"? That leaves quite a lot of other possibilities..... Good post, Top Banana. Thecaptain, you have totally missed the point. Nobody is saying that these people have not (possibly) committed a crime. And by labelling people "tree hugging liberals" it is clear that you have the same stereotyping mindset as susierose. And so it goes on .... and on .....

At the end of the day its all > about getting the best deal for the consumer all > hail competition let us reap the benefits of > better service prices and most of all cost. > > apologies if I have offended the left xxxxxx "The best deal for the consumer" as long as they have shedloads of money and the luxury of being able to choose where to spend it. And the means of getting to Peckham without having a long walk back with their heavy weekly shop. Yeh. You've offended me, anyway, don't know about "the left".
  19. civilservant Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > is s/he still there? 20. susierose Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- he looks either Romanian or Kosovan. xxxxxx FFS !!!! I despair sometimes. And so the stereotyping and prejudice continues.
  21. susierose Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I often see different vans driving up and down with the same > kosovan people in and don't speak much English as > i have confronted them for trying to take > something from my front garden. xxxxxxx Just wondering how you know they're Kosovan? Did you ask them?
  22. Penguin68 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- Apart from the contact > details of councillors who don't represent me > there was precious little 'information' in the > leaflet. xxxxxx I think that's a bit unfair. I was interested to see that apparently ED residents (who? I don't recall being asked) want the Dulwich Hospital site to become either a primary school or housing for oldies, and that the Lib Dems want the old police building opposite the Actress to become the ED police station so that the police don't have to return to Camberwell for their breaks :)
  23. Thanks Kiera. What area do you live in, as I haven't received an invitation to a drop-in session? Not that I was intending to go to one as I don't have any questions :)
  24. the-e-dealer Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Yes but how much am things? xxxxxx If the posts are genuine, it's unkind to mock. If they aren't, why encourage him/her?
  25. Kitie76 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Also, thing are way too expensive.. xxxxxx I bought a cake there on Saturday to take to a celebration. It was ?7 and way way nicer than anything I could have bought in a supermarket. Lemon and poppy seed, yummy icing, and nicely presented in a box. I thought it was a bargain.
