  1. The cheap rubbish tea towel sellers are out again .... if someone rings your bell shortly, that's probably who it will be.
  2. Damn, completely forgot about this till on bus on way to Lambeth Country Show on Sunday :-S Oh well, anyone up for another Sunday afternoon with the dancing parrot? Not forgetting the etc of course. Can't do Sunday coming however :-S Petersen, we will join in the sea shanties! Parrot on a Raft, anyone?
  3. I also noticed this last time I was at DHFC. Really heartwarming. There's two or three areas near the carwash which have been planted up with flowers. I had forgotten all about it. I meant to ask at the club to see if they knew who was doing it, so I could say thanks for cheering me up!
  4. I have the same as Dulwich Fox, but the bin men are constantly returning the wrong bins to houses in my street, even when the house number is written on the bin, so I should think that one of your neighbours probably has your bin.
  5. Agree with everything Minkey says. If you're transplanting anything already growing in the open ground to another site in the garden (I realise you were putting them into pots), it's best to do it so the plant doesn't realise it's been moved. If you get enough soil around the roots so that there are no roots protruding at all, the plant will "think" it's still in the same place. Watering before and after also helps. And to add, usually lavender is very easy to propagate from cuttings, also taken around this time or a bit later. Start them off in small pots and don't pot them on until they are fully rooted. You shouldn't need to use a rooting compound.
  6. There is a local guy called Colin who posts on this forum who specialises in pest control. I'm sure he could help. He has been recommended by several people on here.
  7. I'm not bloody Popeye :)) Anyway, I was lying :))

And sorry to say this, but if that change had been instrumental in his getting a 2.1 rather than a 2.2, presumably he wouldn't now be appealing?

  10. Have they given any thought at all to the fact that it will be shortened to Harpie? Definition from the Urban Dictionary: Savage, monstrous winged females. Flock together to attack unwary males on internet talkboards.
  11. Yes deffo, how about this Sunday?? Shall I bring my singing dog? :)-D
  12. Seems much faster now - thanks for the hard work this morning :)
  13. Blimey, what's with all the Latin on this thread? What a well-educated lot we are :)) Amo amas amat, mensa mensa mensam etc etc.
  14. Happened to me once on a 37 from Herne Hill when I was using a rucksack, someone unzipped the outer pocket and removed my purse and mobile. And I always thought I was so extremely careful :-$ And the bus company won't look at CCTV unless requested by the police - who would hardly be going to go to all that trouble for a relatively minor theft. I haven't used the rucksack since - I keep my purse in a zipped up inner pocket in a zipped up bag. Could still be taken, but with a lot more difficulty. ETA: Sorry to state the obvious, but I hope you've cancelled all your cards. Terrible pain but worse pain if somebody is using them.
  15. Susie, there's been another rat thread on here recently, I'm sure if you do a search for rats you will find it - can't remember what it was called now.

  18. The RHS has produced this useful list of plants which attract pollinating insects at different times of the year: Plants for pollinators Also - tadpole update - since growing their legs, or in the process of doing so, a load of mine have reappeared, and can be admired at certain times of the day taking in air. They are also greedy little b*****s and eat whole freeze-dried bloodworms at a time :)) Hopefully they won't choke to death before becoming proper froglets. Have not seen the actual froglet (or possibly toadlet) lately and hope this is because s/he is hiding somewhere in the garden and not because s/he has been eaten by a cat or bird :-S
  19. Sorry but I should think your purse has almost certainly been stolen by somebody going into your rucksack.

  21. So are you going to do something about it?
  22. grass Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Somebody is poisoning they fox in your local area. xxxxxx And is your (new) forum name a giveaway? You know who this somebody is? @ Dulwich Fox - that's true, but then where are all the bodies?
  23. Ratpack Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > That was what was so strange. Lots of foxes - they > all disappeared at the same time and no bodies in > our gardens. xxxxxxx Maybe they've just gone somewhere else? I once had a fox sleeping in my garden every day, then one day it just went away and never came back. It never occurred to me it might have died, I just assumed it found somewhere else to sleep!

  25. DulwichFox Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > You could afford a Pound of biscuits. > > We had to do with a 1/4 pound.. :( Well actually I can't remember what weight they were sold by, but a quarter of a pound didn't seem like many biscuits :)) Got a load more at school for the same price if you got broken ones at break time (hoho) though :)
