  1. Many many decades ago when I was a student I started to smoke a pipe. It was a little wooden "ladies pipe" according to the tobacconist. I think I must have thought it would look cool. That didn't last long. I couldn't keep it alight 🤣 I quite liked Old Holborn (or maybe I'm confusing tobacco types. Is that just for ciggies?) , but I preferred Clan. Coffee all tastes much the same to me. Probably my palate has been ruined by the pipe smoking 🤣
  2. Yes it's a rubbish system. Last Christmas at DKH Sainsbury's I was charged the wrong price for a similar reason. I was told I should have taken a photo of the label on the shelf before bringing the item to the checkout! Why would it even cross my mind to do that? I was made to go through all the Christmas shoppers to the other side of the store to take a photo, and only then did I get charged the correct price. This was a matter of several pounds, not a few pence. It was a bottle of Kahlua. When I subsequently suggested there was something wrong with their systems and that many other people must also have been charged the wrong price, and probably not noticed if they had full Christmas trolleys of stuff, I was told that complaints were not dealt with by the store manager. I was told I would have to complain to Head Office, that I could not do this by email, and that I would have to send them a letter. I just gave up. There's a limit to how much of my life I want to spend in trying to put things right. Funny how these errors always seem to be in the shop's favour.
  3. If you read Malumbu's post properly, you will find out why he wrote to Ellie. Oh, ooops, I mean Ellie Reeves. Just in case it wasn't clear who I meant 🙄
  4. Typo? 😂 What sort of music?!
  5. I wouldn't have understood FOT 🤣
  6. It's not so much size in deciding which one to go to, it also depends on transport links, how far you are willing to travel, how much time you have available, and whether you are going to buy so much stuff that you need to take the car (if you have one)! 😄
  7. Thanks, but I quite enjoy wandering around Lidl and seeing what's in their centre aisle 🤣 Also they have interesting snacky things at Christmas. Is the one in Sydenham bigger? I can't remember. Sorry admin, off topic. As you were!
  8. I love Lidl, but that would be a rubbish site for it, and there is one a short bus ride away in Camberwell. Where I will be heading to get my Christmas lebkuchen ❤️
  9. There is a search facility on here which will bring them up if you want to read them.
  10. Because it's a maximum stay of 2 hours and presumably only the first 30 minutes is free?
  11. If all else fails, a white noise app is good to mask unwanted noises. Sounds like (no pun intended) you might have to have it on quite loud, though .......
  12. Somebody appears to be making money from it, albeit not much. Who?
  13. But if she's just singing, how would that be a welfare issue? I realise it's at unsocial hours, but if the noise team can't help I'm not sure how the police could? Unless you could present it to the community police as a problem between neighbours, but she may not realise it IS a problem! Someone above said she doesn't open the door. You could try putting a note through the door? Or perhaps a friendly card along the lines of "I'm sure you don't realise .... but ...."?
  14. I don't want to be negative, and maybe I've misunderstood the purpose of CCTV, but if it's supposed to be to identify people I'm not sure how it would help if the attackers are masked, unless there are other identifying features?
  15. F**k off Trump would be my three words. Only without the asterisks.
  16. As megalaki84 never posted again with anything to substantiate their allegations, I think we can probably assume that they didn't actually get food poisoning from Love
  17. "Donald Trump has been and gone"? We will soon find out 🙄
  18. I don't think they would be happy if I phoned in, I'd be ranting on for hours 🤣
  19. Whereabouts on Grove Vale is it? Seems a bit daft to have no seats! Do they have large capacity machines, and if so how much is the wash?
  20. Annual outbreak? Why is that? And how did they manage to suddenly find more people when the Met had had their overall numbers so drastically cut?
  21. The police can't be everywhere, and they have to prioritise. There should be more of them, and they should be walking the streets, like they used to. It is hard for a passerby to intervene when you don't know if the attackers may have knives. Also, you don't know what your reaction may be if faced with a violent situation. I was once on a bus where a young man was kicked down the stairs by two youths. The driver did nothing except open the doors to let them out, and to my utter shame I retreated to the back of the bus and didn't do anything either.
  22. Well, that's a cheery post which has really contributed to the discussion 🤣🤣🤣 I did say "financially or otherwise" able to contribute x
