Royal Mail Late Deliveries and the price we have to pay
Sue replied to a topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Our local delivery office must be absolutely inundated with complaints at the moment. But both of your non-deliveries are appalling. Have you complained to anyone apart from Royal Mail, eg the MP? -
Jamaican Vibes Cuisine in Lordship Lane
Sue replied to Moovart's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It does seem quite a lot for something from a stall. Are there still seats outside what was the Beer Dispensary to eat it at? It looks good though. I hope his cooking is better than his spelling (ocassions ?!) 🤣 Why don't people get someone who can spell to check over things before they get them printed? I know it's not important in the great scheme of things, but it offends my nitpicking aka attention to detail side 🤣 -
The original post on nextdoor from the injured person's mother has been deleted, but it said that the car driver stopped to let her daughter cross on the crossing, but then drove into her while she was on the crossing and knocked her down. It isn't clear why, or whether it was deliberate. Apparently the car driver did then stop. As they are asking for witnesses, shouldn't march46's post above be in a more prominent part of the forum? Not many people are likely to see it here? I only noticed it by chance.

Malumbu, apparently all ex presidents are referred to as "president". American presidents, that is. Who knows why. Seems somewhat confusing.

Royal Mail Late Deliveries and the price we have to pay
Sue replied to a topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Royal Mail are claiming to have delivered two tracked packages to me yesterday. Both were eBay orders (from different people). I haven't had either of them. There is a GPS map associated with one, showing the vicinity of my house, but neither of my neighbours has the package and there is nothing behind any pots etc at the front of my house. The other one just says "delivery recorded", with no further information. I was out, and I have spent far too long today on two phone calls to Royal Mail, in the first of which I was given completely wrong information about the process, and now find if the packages don't turn up after 72 hours, the sender/s have to refund me and also make a complaint to Royal Mail. I'm sure they will be delighted. Meanwhile, I don't have items which I needed for this coming Saturday. Nothing of any monetary value, but I can't get them locally, so very annoying indeed. Has anybody else had similar instances lately? Judging by the time I had to wait both times I phoned, Royal Mail must be inundated with complaints at the moment. The first time, I was told things could have been affected by the Microsoft outage, but surely in that case there would have been no information available at all about the packages, not two separate statements that they had been "delivered" ? ETA: I've just had to make a THIRD call to Royal Mail because I only got email confirmation of one of the supposedly delivered packages. It turns out that only one of them was reported to the delivery office yesterday. FFS. How many hours do I have to spend on this because of so many people's incompetence? Now a day has been missed in the timescale of their "process", plus obviously the two items should have been dealt with at the same time, because they were in the same delivery, so presumably are with the same (wrong) person or in the same (wrong) place. ETA (again): Both of these packages have just arrived (Wednesday morning). The lovely postie said he couldn't get them through the door on Monday, but couldn't explain why the tracking info said they had both been delivered on Monday. Oh well, at least I've got them now! -
What, wherever you go, on the off chance you might be attacked by a second-rate raven?!

Eh? How would you like to have your head clawed at by large birds whilst just walking along?!

Owners of East Dulwich Tavern go into Administration
Sue replied to Sue's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I don't remember La Careme at all! But I'm not sure we ever went anywhere other than the Dulwich Tandoori 😂 I can't remember how we got there, I think one of my friends must have driven. I was living in South Norwood at that time, but I don't recall thinking East Dulwich was particularly posh. Though it probably was compared to South Norwood 😂 It certainly didn't seem at all posh when I moved here over thirty years ago. I remember having to explain to people that it wasn't actually Dulwich Village ..... -
"Dulwich, East London". Lazy journalist (or incompetent sub editor) Btw, PGC, I admire your evenhandedness with recent links from both the Graun and the Fail 😂

Owners of East Dulwich Tavern go into Administration

I've just noticed that almost all the Ivy hanging around the top of the EDT is dead. Seems like a bad omen. In previous years their flower displays have been lovely, and generally well cared for 😭 -
Just went to look, and the discussion had apparently been closed 12 minutes ago, don't know if for legal reasons, or if it had got nasty, or for some other reason. Hope the person hit will be ok, and I guess I will never know about the helicopter.
-
That's terrible, but I wouldn't have thought a helicopter would be involved. The post doesn't say if the driver stopped after hitting the girl, but surely they must have done?
-
Well, it "could" be anything ..... Does anybody actually know? ..
-
The only morse code I know is SOS, which would probably make things worse 😂 Well, that was the sort of thing I was concerned about, yes, but I was hoping that someone would know something specific, rather than taking a guess, as the helicopter was hovering quite close to my house!

There's a helicopter hovering over the Crystal Palace Road area (now moved elsewhere). Has something happened?

Ivy House - Guardian Photo Essay
Sue replied to Peckhamgatecrasher's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There's one of our Goose posters in the background of one of the photos! A different person is currently working on a film documentary of a day in the life of The Ivy House. He recently filmed at one of our singarounds (NOT "singalongs", Guardian article writer! They are a different kettle of fish altogether!) -
Well, I rest my case. But surely there is some recourse beyond the surgery itself? The appropriate MP, if all else fails. Helen Hayes used to be very good at taking up things like this, and probably still is, but so far as I know most of East Dulwich is no longer in her constituency since the boundary changes
-
That is terrible. Did you take it up with the staff concerned? And/or the head teacher?

is there anywhere local to dispose of a lithium laptop battery?
Sue replied to sandyman's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
You could see if anyone you know is going to the tip for other reasons and could take it for you, to save you a journey just for that? -
Yes, of course you shouldn't have to go to another one, but what's the point in staying somewhere which is giving you a terrible (or even mediocre) service and showing no signs of improvement despite your and other people's complaints? Especially where your health is concerned. It's only a "key point" in general terms, not in an individual case. Sometimes you just have to put your own welfare first. It's up to others whether they just stay and put up with continuing poor service on the grounds that it "might" improve if people keep complaining. Has anybody actually asked the surgery what are the reasons for their apparent shortcomings? What does the practice manager say?

The Co-op used to have a box for recycling batteries. Don't know if they still do. ETA: It may not take this kind of battery though. Sorry, I didn't read the post properly.
