  1. They must be tree specialists, surely, otherwise they wouldn't be allowed to touch the trees? Is that naive of me? When I worked for Islington Council, the tree team were passionate about the trees in the borough, and I'd have thought it was unlikely Southwark were different? Surely they wouldn't just lop off branches for no reason - why on earth would you do that?

I've never had the slightest problem understanding any of the staff in the Co-op, and it seems like you're just being - well, let's say unpleasant.
  4. Extract from Wild About Britain Buzzard thread: Hi, I work for Greenspace Information for Greater London (Greenspace Information for Greater London), and part of our remit is to collate information on London's wildlife and open spaces. The information we hold comes in from a range of sources, from GiGL partners such as the London Boroughs through to members of the public (see our website for an up to date list of our partners). I've had a look at our information and we have over 400 records of common buzzard in Greater London, the most recent record having been sent in a couple of months ago. The main data contributors in this case are The Royal Parks, Greater London Authority and London Natural History Society. We are always keen to receive more information to help us build up a better picture of London's wildlife, so if any of you would like to tell us about what you've seen please visit our website. Once you have registered as a user you can submit your sightings online and have a look at some of the data that we already hold via our WIMBY tool. Kind regards Mandy
  5. Well it pretty certainly wasn't a Golden Eagle, and red kites are easily identifiable by their forked tails. Did it have raggedy wings (technical term :)) ) at the edges? I know buzzards are common in the country, but one in East Dulwich??

  9. Sounds odd to me, surely young foxes don't normally die of natural causes?
  10. Here's the other clothes moth thread and Here's the link to the Pest Control Supermarket I recommend
  11. Huguenot Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I'm probably worng, but I seem to remember that > Sue was the mothinator. > xxxxxxx Yep :)) There's a recent thread (not recently started, but still being posted on) on moths in the ED issues section of the forum, I'll go back and look up the link to the place I used for my (successful - last year anyway!) extermination campaign :))
  12. Are you sure it was a buzzard? http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/birdguide/name/b/buzzard/feeding.aspx I've had a bird of prey in my garden eating the starlings, but it wasn't a buzzard. Can't remember now what it was, it was a few years back.
  13. Do you know what they appeared to have died of? Were they injured? Is one of your neighbours putting down poisoned food?
  14. Ingrime Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- The staff, > well the ones I can understand, xxxxxx What's that supposed to mean?

  17. Did you have any criteria for scoring, or was it just a vague general impression sort of score? Gobsmacked at the Vale .....
  18. Jon Boden.
  19. Tarot Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- >I have a blackbird who likes grapes > and chips. > All good. xxxxxx Sounds like you have a blackbird likely to have an upset tum, Tarot :))
  20. sambless Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- You don't have > young children do you? I really hope they didn't > see, that would be awful. xxxxxx Eh? Rats may be vermin and a health hazard, and therefore have to be controlled, but they are also animals and part of the natural world. What's wrong with children seeing them? Or are you joking?
  21. Taper - we haven't yet, but that's not a deliberate policy :) We were approached by one very good Cajun band, but they weren't well enough known to put on at DHFC and their fee was too high for the Mag. If there's anyone you'd like us to check out, PM me :)
  22. KidKruger Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I know Phillip Henry, not bad I suppose... > xxxxxx NOT BAD?!?!?!?!?!
  23. Phillip Henry. You won't have heard of him yet, but you will. First guitarist since I first saw Bert Jansch around 1965 to literally make my jaw drop. And sit there with my mouth hanging open. F-ing amazing slide.

And a bloody nice bloke as well. Best version of Tamlyn I've ever heard in my life, makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. R.I.P.
