  1. And there aren't even Seven Oaks any more .....

I think that's good - horrid brightly coloured shapeless things :))

Also with Firefox tonight, I keep getting timed out before a page has loaded, not happening with any other sites. I get a message "The server is taking too long to respond".

Also with Firefox tonight, I keep getting messages saying "the server is taking too long to respond" and timing me out before a page has loaded.
  5. Lot of problems again tonight. Anyone else? I'm constantly getting this message (no problems on any other websites): The connection has timed out The server at www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk is taking too long to respond. * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Although I wasn't the organiser, I'm pretty sure Southwark didn't charge us anything to close the road, or at least not so much as to make it impossible to have the party. We held a raffle to cover costs and to put towards this year's street party! Edited to add: I totally agree that ED is a great place to live - indeed, there is another rather more positive thread elsewhere where people give their reasons for thinking the same.
  7. Hope you'll report back on here after the workshop!
  8. mynamehere Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > You can find details > of the meeting by clicking here xxxxxxxxxx Where?
  9. I'm not really interested in contributing to a thread which this particular OP has started, and his "apology" seems to consist of having a go at two regular forum contributors. This forum is a community as well, albeit an online one.
  10. JimJam Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Sue, how is that helping? Why would you post > that? What is the thread called? I see that > others have been rude as well. > xxxxxxx Because I think the OP is being hypocritical to say the least.
  11. JimJam Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > He > also outlined that this thread was to come up with > solutions, not to have a go at each other. > xxxxxx So why did he have a go at people, then?

  13. He's obviously talking about some other community than "our" community ..... "They" are clearly not "us" .....
  14. That kind of PM is just bullying. Pathetic.
  15. I'd be very interested in being involved in this. I think it's a great concept.
  16. louisiana Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I'm kind of surprised that the guy (who lives in > Sevenoaks) who wrote "They shoot each other" (and > various other equally interesting pieces of text) > is now starting some thread that certain others > are responding to. Amazing. Really. xxxxxxx Indeed.
  17. Referring to improving "our community" when he lives in Sevenoaks and has been dissing East Dulwich on another thread is a bit much, in my opinion.
  18. edcam's post is not relevant either, so why has that not been removed?
  19. I know that now - as I brought it in on Thursday evening, I did not think it could be the same cat, as that one was reported as having gone missing on Friday night. Also its condition led me to assume it did not have an owner :-$ I would have kept it a day or two before bringing it to the rescue centre, but couldn't as I was going away. I didn't see the notices until yesterday.
  20. edcam Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > This thread is starting to remind me of that > utterly tasteless one about Madeleine McCann. > None of this speculation is helping anyone. xxxxxx Please don't compare the two threads. I started the Madeleine McCann thread in order to state facts which the British press has ignored. Other posters chose to ignore those facts also and instead have a go at me for having the temerity to suggest that all is not always what it seems. Some posters on this thread have made vile, irrelevant, ill-timed and/or racist comments when one of the few known facts is that a young man is dead in tragic circumstances. His friends and relatives must be absolutely distraught. And if anyone wants to start having a go again about the other thread, please don't send this thread further off track, please PM me.
  21. Somebody has put up notices in Ulverscroft Road re a sixteen year old black cat with one tooth which went missing on Friday night. This would be quite near the Mag. I'll contact them tomorrow.
  22. That's a shame about Jaisalmer. Oh well.
  23. Louisiana, I do think you're exaggerating somewhat - are you trying to scare him?! Varanasi is hardly very big, for a start, so it's unlikely that a driver there would get lost. Anyway my recollection is that you would more likely get a rickshaw than a taxi there. Though maybe things have changed. The only time I have ever been "abandoned" when travelling was being chucked off a bus in Jakarta (Java) miles from where I wanted to be :-S
  24. I never got ill in India, but I did get quite sick in Australia :)) If you are careful (and yes, obviously have the recommended jabs etc before you go) you should be fine.
