  1. Tibby, have the victim support people been in touch, if not, maybe you could ask the police whether there is any counselling available for you and your children? So sorry to hear about this.
  2. Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
  3. There's more in North Cross Road.
  4. Glad to hear it went well, we'll be down for the next one if we can :) But what do you mean by "The more people who missed it, the better." ??? :)-D

  6. Sorry to be so dim :-$ but what direction/s should you be shielding the PIN from, and how can you hold your other hand to cover all bases?
  7. Telepathy? :))

  9. Hope The Vale is at least giving you a drink or three for organising it? Good luck, let us all know tomorrow how it went (those of us who can't make it). :)-D
  10. Ladymuck, if you really don't use a mobile and don't text, how do you contact people when you are out and about? I resisted both for ages, and now I can't imagine how I did without them :) I originally bought a mobile after my car broke down - by extraordinary great luck (it was in the country) I was quite near a phone box, but the next day I was off to Carphone Warehouse :)) Ladymuck Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Sue Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ---- > > The terms and conditions say "Text tickets are > > non-transferable" and "We will only accept > > original text tickets...The T&C also say that > tickets are issued on a > > priority basis to active Orange mobile > customers > > spending over ?5 a month > > You are right - I wouldn't be eligible. 11. All the instructions are on the Orange website - google Orange Wednesdays. You do have to text, but it's easy - you just text FILM to 241. It costs 35p. You are then sent a text message containing a code, which you give to the cinema. The terms and conditions say "Text tickets are non-transferable" and "We will only accept original text tickets, unless acquired from mobile broadband onto a laptop or PDA." I had written my code down but they asked to see the message on the phone, but don't know if that was because they couldn't read my writing :)) The T&C also say that tickets are issued on a priority basis to active Orange mobile customers spending over ?5 a month with Orange or Orange broadband. So sounds like you wouldn't be eligible anyway if you're not using your phone.
  12. I've been with Orange for ages, and only used the Orange Wednesday thing for the first time yesterday. Was amazed at how easy it all was. Two of us got to see the new Mike Leigh film at the Ritzy for half price. :)-D
  13. Thanks for posting that link, gwod, I love the description of Autumn/Fall tourists in New England as "leaf peepers" :))
  14. That's excellent news. I usually get the 40 back if I'm around London Bridge in the evening, I'll be more likely to use the train now if I know I won't have to wait more than fifteen minutes for one, even though it's a longer walk for me at the ED end. Thanks for posting it Tessa.
  15. YAY! :)-D

  18. I do hope it goes well for you and the Vale will have you back :)
  19. Good luck, but at risk of incurring DJKQ's wrath again, and I'm sure you know what you're doing, but are you relying purely on people reading this thread plus your and the bands' friends turning up? Have you gone down any other routes to promote the gig?

Sad but true. That's why we sell out for many of our DHFC gigs but some of our Mag gigs with absolutely top musicians don't even attract local Goose punters, because they're not "names".

We have posters up at DHFC asking people to respect the artists and not talk while there's live music, and yes - still people do (and occasionally get arsey if asked not to, though I've never actually had to chuck anybody out yet - though I will if I have to :)) )
  22. Sorry we have a Goose gig Upstairs at the Mag.

I do think there's a danger of duplication. Who would run the umbrella website, and who would decide what was "arts" and what wasn't? Comedy? Folk music? Dancing classes? ETA: And what geographical area would it cover? And who would draw the line?
