  3. You shouldn't make assumptions :))

  5. I bought a great little teatray with bread and honey and a tiny knife, for three quid, though :) Was going to give it to my grandchildren, but think I may keep it for myself :) Sorry, off topic ....
  6. DJKillaQueen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- >> Let's not start pretending that being a Postman is > somehow on a Par with beign a Nurse or Fireman > etc. It's not. xxxxxxxxx No of course it's not. That doesn't mean they shouldn't be paid a decent living wage. It may be an unskilled job, but it's an essential job.

I've always found that having > a job, any job, makes it easier to get considered > when applying for another (eg better paid ) job. xxxxxxxxx The post I was referring to was the one in which you appeared to be saying that postal workers did not deserve a pay increase or an improvement in their terms and conditions. I suggested you research what they got. Postmen/women's pay and conditions If you would like to work a forty hour week (that's forty working hours) for that level of basic pay, good on you. All the posties I have known have had to do overtime even on top of the forty hours, to make a decent living wage. And as for taking the job as a stop-gap until you find something better - maybe that's the cause of the very problems you are complaining about. Royal Mail spend time and money on training and then people leave. In any work environment, some people will be hard grafters who give their all, and some will be lazy tossers. It's not fair to talk about Royal Mail as if all their employees fall into the latter category.

  11. Oh OK thanks. Too blooming near my house for a Monday night :)) ETA: Or Tuesday even :-$
  12. Anyone know what the shouting and screaming on NCR which has been going on for some time now is all about?

If you do, respect, but give a thought to those who would find it too difficult to fit it all in. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx It is not about > snobbery it is about quality, most of the food in > Iceland is shocking, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Things like Iceland's frozen vegetables and bags of prawns or plain white frozen fish seem perfectly fine to me, and very good value. I understand that because frozen vegetables are frozen soon after they are picked, they retain their nutrients longer than so-called fresh vegetables do. I have also had yoghurt, cottage cheese and mature cheddar cheese from Iceland which have appeared to be no different to anything I'd buy anywhere else. Correct me if I'm wrong, but surely people who buy ready meals do so either because they have no time to cook, because they're too tired to cook after work, or because they've never been taught to cook. Or because a ready meal is cheaper than buying all the individual ingredients, particularly if you live on your own and want to avoid waste.
  14. DJKillaQueen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > To be fair though, postmen are paid to do a job > and some of them aren't doing it. And what the current working week is? I suggest you do a bit of research on the pay and conditions of posties, and then come back onto this thread and let us all know whether you still think this is so terribly bad - and more to the point, whether you'd be willing to do the job for this pay.

  17. Perhaps the Blue Mountain had run out of their normal organic, free-range milk gathered from a specified herd of local cows, and had had to pick up a pint or two from Iceland, their nearest supplier :))
  18. cate Wrote: > The 'possible misinterpretation' has not been > removed. It is still there. Apologising does not > remove it. I think it should be removed. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx You can report the post to admin giving the reason why you think it should be removed. That may have more effect than posting about it here. ETA: Then up to admin/mods whether they agree with you and remove it.
  19. felt-tip Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It might not be the same one. MIGHT be. 20. Ah. So you are a total tw*t, then ......
  21. Alex K and DJKQ, did you actually read what EDDORDC posted, or did you read what you wanted to read? And Alex K, dragging in Wittgenstein just makes you look a t**t. ETA: And you are, it seems, calling EDDORDC a liar. That makes you look even more of a t**t.

Don't ever join Naked Wines, rip-off disguised as charitable enterprise for budding winemakers.

  24. Eh? There wasn't any subtext, it was a simple question, I wondered whether Scott had actually drawn it yet.
  25. DJKillaQueen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Still doesn't change the fact that no attempt was > made by Royal Mail to deliver the item which is > what the sender pays postage for. xxxxxxxx DJKQ, as I read his post, he is saying that he did deliver it, and explaining the circumstances. Alex K, your post is just rude. "The shoe may fit, but you claim that this time you weren't wearing it. Well, it's pinched you enough to call forth a reply. " The guy's explained the circumstances, and came on here to do so. He doesn't deserve to be shot down. I'd like to say that I live in Ulverscroft Road and my postman is generally helpful and friendly, if clearly overworked. The situation re Royal Mail is complex, and trying to blame the staff doesn't help. ETA: If that was you, do you think you would be more motivated to try to do a good job, or less motivated, after reading these remarks?
