  1. Good post, RichTea
  2. And hence the dilemma (as per the fox thread). Pros and cons, eh?
  3. See the thread in this section about the programme today about the concrete house ..... Oh, and nice one PGC :))
  4. He did the same with me, with some sandals, gave me the thread and showed me how to do it, didn't charge! It was just to sew on a buckle, I still haven't done it though :-$ :)) ETA: Prickle, I think refusing to mend your boots shows integrity, if he didn't think it was worth doing. Most people would have taken your money regardless.
  5. I live in the North Cross Road area, and yes the foxes are noisy and have kept me awake/woken me up, but I love walking down the road at night or looking out of my living room window and seeing a fox - sorry people who want them to go away. And yes, they have dug holes in my garden and crapped on it and wrecked stuff too. But I'd still rather they were around. I think it's quite magic having wild(ish) animals around when you live in a city. I'd rather have fox noise than bloody plane noise :))
  6. Thanks so much for posting this thread! Here's the link http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01092w5/Britains_Empty_Homes_Series_2_Lisa_and_Paul_Townend/ There was a bit about the history of the Concrete House in a Southwark Life mag a while back, too.
  7. Loads of Advent calendars about at the time of Advent ie before Christmas :)) No Easter eggs in December, though .... Possibly a storage issue, HB :)) And what have Martians got to do with this?
  8. And another one (6) or possibly the same one going round in circles. Shouldn't have given away my meditation stool, obviously :)) Off to hug the tree outside my house.
  9. There's one going over now (6)
  10. Do you mean Lent?!

  12. :)) ETA: That was in response to Speedbird, btw

  14. Dulwich Tandoori :)
  15. All of London is not equally affected by plane noise, Pearson. Certain areas are on flight paths, and this is one of them, unfortunately. And it has got very much worse since I moved here twenty years ago.
  16. Crikey, you people who don't notice it, do you have double glazing?
  17. I'm pretty sure there are a group of people who meet in Crystal Palace at a cafe opposite the bus station - or used to - but yes, PeckhamRose will know.
  18. Anywhere that does not involve having to be reminded of the wedding. Charles and Diana's wedding - was on Weymouth beach, it was deserted apart from my daughter and myself :)) Diana's funeral - cleared out garden shed (can't do that this time as I no longer have one).
  19. I was amazed to read in a local paper that the Irish Festival cost something like ?52k (I think) to run and that the council had been funding half of this. What on earth were they spending all that money on?
  20. Lousmith, I think you kindly offered me some frogspawn, but I can't find the post. I've been given some frog and toadspawn now, and am rushing out excitedly every morning to see if there's been any change ! I decided not to sink the tub into the ground because I'd probably have to move it again when I redesign my garden, so it's just sitting on top of the ground - I've provided a pile of stones inside the tub and a "bridge" onto solid land, so hopefully things will be able to find their way out .......
  21. Works for me in Firefox :)
