Thanks so much everyone for all this info, it was very easy for me to get an appointment for both jabs. I chose Kristal in Nunhead because although it's less convenient, they were great when I went there before. I'm not keen on Sogim for reasons unrelated to the above (I've had very poor service there in the past).

Crikey, I wouldn't fancy going anywhere near somebody with a hammer, so good for him for filming it! Maybe he was at a window? I did think someone must have heard something, because repeated hammer blows must have been quite loud.

Royal Mail - late deliveries - what is happening?
Sue replied to Borderlands's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
FFS. I've stayed in today for three parcels, all despatched at the same time, all supposed to be being delivered by Royal Mail today, all quite large. One arrived this morning. I said to the postie that I was expecting three. He said he only had one, and were they all this big? 🤣 Now I've had three separate texts from Royal Mail, each saying they were unable to deliver my parcel today, and the tracking info says they were "unable to attempt delivery". I haven't got the will to check them all to see if one of these texts relates to the parcel which actually was delivered 🙄 -
Has anyone received their copy of SE 22 for October?

Angela the editor says there are no problems her end and the distributors are all GPS checked. She says please contact her directly if you want her to check a specific road. She doesn't use this forum. -

I've contacted the editor to see if there's a distribution problem. -
I'm not particularly in favour of this proposal, but what is the evidence that there's "no demand for student housing around ED"? Surely there's no demand for it because there presently isn't any?! Students have to live somewhere, Kings is a teaching hospital (I think) as is the dental hospital (I think) plus East Dulwich has reasonable transport links into central London and this site is near both trains and several bus routes.

Great, thanks both!

I have booked a flu jab for next week with my GP surgery, but they don't do Covid jabs, and I'd rather get them both done at once. Are there any reasonably local pharmacies who do this, and if so is it walk in or would I need to make an appointment? Thanks! Obviously I would cancel the one with my GP!

Thought I'd had mine but can only find September's, so maybe I haven't. That's strange. -

Southwark council survey on bins on the street
Sue replied to trinidad's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Can you post a clickable link? Not that I live on one of those streets! I think you probably need to edit your post to put https:// before the website address you've given -
Surely the No Dogs sign should be very very large at the entrance? It's a bit pointless having it once you've taken the dog/s in there?

Thanks for this, IlonaM. I'm still ill and feeling sorry for myself. Can't have my flu and Covid jabs till I'm over this effing bug. I've already postponed the Flu jab I had booked. I have been out briefly a couple of times but my symptoms keep coming and going, and now I feel rubbish and have retired to bed again. However I'm very grateful it isn't worse. I know there are a lot of people much worse off than me. I'm tucked up under a duvet with a radiator on and a pile of books. Commiserations to everyone else who is ill at the moment.

Mopping two or three times a day? What on earth were you doing in there?! And there are various permanent or temporary ways to deal with the draft between the cracks. I painted the original floorboards in my living room, and I used a system which is a V shaped roll of brown plastic (comes in other colours) which folds up to push into the cracks. It just looks like gaps in the cracks once it's in, stops the draughts, and you can just hoover or mop over it. Can't remember its name, but it was quick and easy to do, I did it myself. There are other systems eg using some kind of expanding filler stuff, but what I did was much simpler, and allows for expansion and contraction because the V just widens by itself if necessary. Also, though more expensive and more hassle, you can take up all the floorboards and put in insulating material from above or from below (if accessible). I'd never go back to carpet, but no doubt fashions will change, because the manufacturers won't make money otherwise. I see avocado bathroom suites are coming back 🤢

But on the app at least, if you go "home", you are shown the newest post on each section of the forum. And what seems like 99% of the time, in the lounge, it's the word game "thingy". How does that make anyone "experience the forum as a whole"? If I was new to the forum and didn't know what the lounge was, it certainly wouldn't make me inclined to investigate further. And even if I was into word games on local forums, I'm not sure I would look further into one called a "thingy". I expect someone thought it was funny at the time. Talking to people/family in real life about things like Brexit and Gaza is in my experience much worse than Facebook. Assuming there is disagreement, which in my family's case there is on both issues, at least you can block them on Facebook 🤣

You could try the Citizens Advice people in Peckham? https://www.citizensadvicesouthwark.org.uk/

It's easy on Facebook to snooze or block people, or leave groups you don't want to see again. And ads. I do it all the time.

Royal Mail - late deliveries - what is happening?
Sue replied to Borderlands's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
When I complained, it was about a specific instance. I can't remember the exact details, but it was investigated and rectified, and I was kept in touch with what they had found out. Unfortunately, general complaints about the Peckham delivery office have been being made ever since the Sylvester Road office was closed, and despite our then MP Helen Hayes doing her best, things seem to improve for a bit then deteriorate again. -
Love Dulwich Bistro (New Cafe/Bistro) 89 Lordship Lane
Sue replied to Hakeem's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'm not disputing that you all got sick, but you all ate the same thing? And it was diagnosed as food poisoning? Rather than something catching which one of you could have transmitted to the other two? Because it seems odd that a newly opened eating place would not be right on top of food hygiene regulations. Did you tell Love about this? And/or did you report it to the public health people so that it could be investigated? If you did, what was the outcome? If you didn't, it seems unfair to be posting things on here which could affect their reputation, especially when they have only recently opened -

That's a bit odd. Did they say that to you before or after the investigation? A very quick Google brought up the attached, which gives the phone number🙄
