  1. So sorry to hear about all this. This dog Monty's owner should pay for all the vet's fees, surely?

Thanks in advance! xxxxxx It wasn't a "meeting", in fact. It was two or three women with a pile of leaflets, and you had to fill in the leaflet saying which of the three options you liked best, with comments. They also had a bit of paper on display saying you could give other ideas, though that wasn't made clear on the leaflet. I don't think this "consultation" has been very thorough at all. When the Goose Green roundabout tree/sculpture etc was mooted, leaflets about it on which you could vote were dropped through doors. I live off North Cross Road and would never have known about this if it hadn't been for this thread on the forum. How many residents don't know about the forum or don't use it? I have no idea who the women were, but they seemed to want to talk amongst themselves rather than discuss the options. I did ask one if she was the artist, as I realised I was slagging off the mock-ups to my OH in what could have been a tactless manner if the "artist" had been present, but she just said no, and didn't say who she was. There doesn't seem to have been any publicity at all about this Palmerston thing, apart from on here, why on earth didn't they either have their table actually under the wall itself, with pix, or at least have a notice on the wall to tell people they were in the Palmerston? I don't know how many people went, but there was nobody else there at the timne we went (about four I think).
  3. Useful map, thanks, and I'm relieved to see that my directions were OK!
  4. I can understand they didn't want to stand on North Cross Road in freezing weather, but why not put a sign against the wall in question briefly explaining the proposals and directing people to the Pamerston? Lots of people come down this way on a Saturday. The only publicity for this "consultation" I have seen is on this forum. I was told they had put info round locally, but I live just round the corner to the wall and haven't had anything about it. I'd have known nothing about it if I didn't come on the EDF. For what it's worth I suggested a) Lighting up the wall with coloured light, as the National Theatre does at night b) Green wall with wires and an evergreen non-clinging plant which would not hurt the wall, such as Clematis armandii which is shade tolerant and has scented flowers in Winter. Also has attractive evergreen leaves. c) Their option of photos - photos of East Dulwich, combined with a community notice board as someone suggested above. I think any of the options with those harsh colours would be really out of keeping with the feel of the road.

  20. If you go in at the gate on the corner of the South Circular, where it meets Lordship Lane, just before the Church and opposite the Harvester, and walk up the path (Cox's Walk), you can get into the woods that way. There are then two directions you can go in, straight ahead, or turn left and go over a bridge over the old railway track. As others have said, I think there are maps at the entrances to the woods. If - whichever of the two paths you take - you then aim vaguely straight ahead, you will eventually come to an incline which leads up over a rather spooky boarded up entrance to an old railway tunnel. Go up the path up the incline, and at the top is another gate. If you go out of here and turn right (I THINK! CHECK!) you will come to Dulwich Wood House (pub) on the left, which is quite handy. Wear wellies if it's been raining, the paths in the woods can get quite muddy. Have a good time, I love those woods! Edited to say: It's spooky because it's always exceptionally cold in the valley bit where the tunnel entrance is, even though it's boarded up. OOERR!!

And even if she was a bully, does that give somebody else the right to barge past her and her small children into her own house?
