  1. Well the Brockwell Park fireworks were brill, and much better than I remember Crystal Palace being last year (and free, too!) but getting out of the Park afterwards was an absolute nightmare. I was so glad I didn't have kids with me, and amazed if noone got hurt. Total bottleneck at both tiny entrances at the Herne Hill side, with no pedestrian crossing at the main entrance (Railton Road end). People were trying to climb over the railings to get out, and apart from a few police etc at the actual exits, there was nobody apparently to give information about what was happening to the massive queues. Buses were rammed too, had to walk back to ED :))

  4. Why do you want to know? Are you going to ask him for his autograph? Leave the poor bloke alone! Or is this thread a joke?

  6. But do you actually know why the clinic was running late? Maybe the consultant had to save someone's life or some other - er - unavoidable delay?
  7. Well I don't mind the noise, I think it's great we have animals living in a city, and it's better than the noise of screaming creatures being carried off by owls I used to get when I lived in the country. I have a young fox asleep in my garden as I type, and I think it's great. Live and let live unless they're actually harming you, that's what I say. Edited to add: And if someone was shooting at them intending to hit them, I think that's bloody disgraceful, frankly.
  8. Hi Can you help re a street tree issue? In August 2008 (sic) I called out the council because the tree outside my house was split down the middle and I was afraid a branch might fall on someone. They came the same day and cut the tree down to a stump, and said it would be replaced. By the end of January nothing had happened, so I phoned them up and they said a new tree would be in by the end of March. By the end of May - no tree, still a stump. I phoned again and they said that according to their records the case was closed and in any case the tree planting season was over! They gave me a new reference number and said they would be along to remove the trunk, and would then replant the tree. I even requested a particular tree, which they noted (Betula jacquemontii, a type of Birch which is used locally as a street tree). I phoned again yesterday, as - still the stump is there. They didn't seem to know anything about it. Yet again I was told someone would come along to have a look at the tree, and yet again I was given a different reference number. I asked for the number for the tree department and they said they didn't have one and that the department had been disbanded. What's going on?!?!?!?! I was fond of my tree, and would like to see another one there. Preferably within the next decade.
  9. Southwark Council recycling tip off the Walworth Road has place for batteries and paint and I think electrical items. Can't remember the road name but it's on the left as you go towards the Elephant, just past East Street (on the right) I think. You could phone their environmental services section 020 7525 2000.
  10. Went to see Fantastic Mr Fox on Sunday. Monday Tuesday and Wednesday went out into the garden and found a young fox there each time, today found my fairy lights chewed into tiny pieces (lucky they weren't plugged in) and now have discovered he has a cosy bed right under my kitchen window. My garden is only tiny, so I feel quite privileged! He seems to be getting used to me. Bit of a distraction from work though, I have to keep looking to see what he's doing :-S
  11. Honey just isn't the same though :))
  12. Several threads on the forum here already. Dulwich tennis club (I think), Brockwell Park, Crystal Palace are three I noticed. Brockwell Park free, Crystal Palace a fiver for adults, don't know about the other (smaller) one.

  24. FFS! I live in UR (aka Ulverscroft Road) off NCR (as we must now call it) and I walk down NCR every day. I just don't recognise this picture which is being painted. Who the f*** cares, anyway? We're all people, people. Get over it :)
  25. Yeh - definitely worth it :)) I thought that was going to be a scarey programme, but it wasn't, was it?? :)-D
