I think there are a lot of issues involved, both on a local (nimby) level and also far wider, and one of them is what the government is doing or intends to do about the increasing use of air travel at a time when climate change would seem to be the world's main priority.

I've also been labouring under the delusion that it was just a few planes going round in circles over East Dulwich :)) Right, I'm going to chase Tessa Jowell for a proper reply to my email .....
  3. I've just looked up the Theakstons web page and it certainly looks as if their ale is brewed in Masham, same as it ever was (Talking Heads) :)
  4. Whilst I agree with your sentiments on the whole, I think good ale is good ale regardless of where it comes from - presumably the same people make it as used to, whoever is the ultimate owner? And don't Scottish and Newcastle make Newkie Brown? Nuff said :)
  5. Yes I've noticed the famine/feast thing of mail - I used to get one or two items every day, now I get a load all at once.

  7. Yes what?! Yes you find it commonly in ED pubs, yes you've lost your smiley menu, or yes it's just me? :)

BLAND ?!?!?!?!?!?!?! And if you find it commonly in any pubs in ED or nearby, please let me know so that I can get myself down there PDQ :) PS Has anybody else lost their smiley menu, replaced by an "explorer user prompt" (I don't use IE!) or is it just me??

Or sleep on the ground floor where maybe the noise from the planes is less obvious?
  10. Go Now - The Moody Blues have just come out of my sulk after having my hand slapped for not sticking to the rules .....
  11. They should conscript you Flapjack Davey :D)
  12. Are they gooey??
  13. TheePope Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I find Theakstons a bit dull. > >xxxxxxx Are you perchance related to the guy on another thread who thought Ganapati was a crap Indian Restaurant? I would insert a smiley here, but they have totally disappeared off my laptop, how can this be?? Will try the colon and bracket and see what happens :) :( Erm, got no smiley menu but seem to be able to produce smileys and frowneys, how can this be ???? Not sure I can do the happy clappy beer clinking smiley without the menu though ... :)
  14. So what's the truth then? I think we should be told. When can we have a late night kebab and lager again,eh? And where have all the smileys gone?
  15. Surely metal can be recycled, otherwise how come so many railings were removed in the war to make things related to the war effort? And "less fence equals more dog shit" surely depends on your definition of "less" and how the fence is constructed?

Are they worth > trying again? xxxxx If that's the one the other side of Camberwell, we went there on New Year's Eve for their Indian Elvis experience - the Indian Elvis was brilliant, but the food was absolutely dire and we were massively overcharged (amazingly I was not too drunk at well after midnight to notice, so they did change the bill when I pointed out the error in addition ..... )
  17. I got all excited, I thought it said Charlie Brown :))
  18. YAY, Adnam's Broadside, great :) If there's a beer festival, can I put in a plea for Theakston's Old Peculier (sic), also if there's cider can we have Addlestone's?? Hooray! There goes another doubling of my waistline :)) :)-D
  19. Great to hear there is a new chef, will be down to try the food soon :)

  21. I see Tessa Jowell has a meeting in Barry Road next Saturday morning (15 November) which unfortunately I can't go to. Is anyone else going, and are they going to raise the issue of plane noise? I have had no response from whichever department she passed my email to aeons ago, and I have raised it again in my feedback sheet to her which was enclosed with the meeting invitation. I am so sick of this, I was woken by planes in the very early hours of this morning, could not get back to sleep again and they seemed to be very frequent, very low and even louder than usual. I ended up getting up at 7am on a Sunday morning rather than lying in bed awake waiting for the next ******* plane to come over(6)
  22. Completely agree, charliecharlie
  23. Moos Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > How is the Hoopers in Camberwell? 24. Michael Palaeologus Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Many thanks for your suggestions concerning how we > should put more posts up in other areas of the > Forum about the drinks for those who cant find the > Lounge. > > If somebody would like to do that. Feel free. xxxxxx It's not that people "can't find the Lounge", MP. It's that they may not look in the Lounge for relaxation and chit-chat, and therefore will not see the post about the drinks. I would be very happy to put a post in the "What's On" section each month, which would take about two minutes, but as I don't organise the Forum Drinks or decide the venue, I don't feel it would be appropriate. However if the organisers want to delegate it to me, I'm happy to do it :) Also, the post in the Lounge is a sticky; if the "What's On" post wasn't, it would need the b word every so often.

KalamityKel Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > sorry sue I didn't mean to direct that at you. > > I meant has it not been done before resulting in a > reason as to why it's not a continuous thing... ? xxxxx Didn't take it as directed as me, KK, no prob :) Perhaps the administrator would like to comment as to whether or not Keef's suggestion could be tried out, or if it has been tried out previously and didn't work, why that was? Will Dex, I think people often have things on on Saturday nights as well, whether after work in town or not - whatever day you choose someone will have a problem with it. I like the Friday evening myself, it marks the end of the week :)
