Do the best you can to find alternate activities. But dont beat yourself up about too much screen time. The fact you are asking the question shows you have their interests in mind.

Has anyone been brave enough to use plywood decoratively. It's a fairly new housing trend that I really like. I'm thinking of it in the kitchen and if I'm brave enough, as flooring. Would love to hear of any successes or failings in this. Photos great fully received.

Ok. This won't be popular. I know Heber is a good school and has lots of fans. I was hoping for good news, and for sure the news is good. When the "needs improvement" report came out a year or so back, everyone was up in arms about how unfair it was. So to be honest with you, I was hoping for good but also an outstanding or two. You would imagine having a lot to prove (and if the previous grade was so unfair) any improvement would stand a chance to hit outstanding. There are a lot of local schools hitting the mark and I had hoped for just a little bit more from Heber in all honesty. Probably not fair, and I feel bad saying it, but I had been hoping.

How funny, I just added bith the above to my ocado basket then opted for the sharp one. I wanted a mix of objects. Re food I need to mix sweet and savoury as not sure her preference. So far I am thinking: CD (1920-1940s nostalgia) East Dulwich through Times book Rose Bubble Bath Hand wash and cream Lemon curd Port Little box of chocs Carrs cheese crackers Madelaines Tunnocks tea cakes Piccalilli Beef in ale ( cupboard staple) Lamb hotpot (cupboard staple) A bit random. But at least there should be something in there she likes.

Hi all, Our 93 year old neighbour will be alone this Xmas. Usually she dines with a neighbour but we are all away this year. She should be fine. She is very independent and peppy. As we are away we want to leave her with something festive. I am thinking of making up a hamper. She used to be a bit of a dancer and she plays the organ. So I have invested in some music from 1920s-1940s. I want to get some food and some other bits. I want to avoid the obvious hamper stuff and make something bespoke. I guess my question is, is there a brand of food or item that used to be popular and is perhaps harder to get these days. I know the war didn't allow for much in the way of treat items. Is there something reminiscent I could get that would pep up her Xmas day? Any advice from people around in this era or with people close to them with ideas. Much appreciated.

No one on our street has done this. There must be a reason, we assume it's not possible. Our loft is big but fairly low height. Still, a room seems plausible. We will have to move if we can't extend up, so whilst it's unlikely we can extend, I want to find out for sure as cheaply as possible. Where do I start this process! With an architect?,a loft extension company? Putting something to Southwark? If you know, please advise. Much appreciated.

There's a nice parent out there who would love work during school time. Leaping down this poor persons throat because they didn't vet their post over and over again so as not to attract the vitriol of the forum is counter productive. You will put people off posting and we could all miss out on interesting opportunities which are hard to come by. The original post has been removed now so perhaps this has already happened. We aren't sure what we can do yet. All we know is we can't afford to move and we are sick of sneaking around our tiny house for fear of waking our light sleeper. Some soundproofing sites say carpet would stop us hearing him, but not him hearing us (bizarre I know). I'm thinking something under the floor or underlay. It's literally just to allow us to move around our house freely without waking him up all the time. He wakes if our bed in the room next door creaks! And he even has white noise playing in his room.

Has anyone had this done? Was it effective? I'm worried about the air in the room becoming stale. Any thoughts or advice welcome.

Don't get a bumbo toilet seat for a boy. Their willy doesn't fit in easily.
