  1. My son had a bad cough, runny nose, lethargy, sore ears etc a few weeks ago. Just as he recovered I got it, and it was truly horrible, conjunctivitis, the lot. So I know how he feels. Then he got better and so did I. Now last week he became sick again, same symptoms. Yesterday me too. My son has also now gotten a full body rash (did the glass test, it's fine). So this is clearly a recurring thing. So I went to the Drs for my son, thinking this might not go away on its own. The doctor checked his temp (did that already at home, it's fine). Listened with his stethoscope and poked his belly. He then said he thought my son probably just had a virus and prescribed him antibiotics in the form of penicillin. I've just looked up penicillin and it says "Penicillin V potassium is an antibiotic used to treat certain infections caused by bacteria such as pneumonia, scarlet fever, and ear, skin, and throat infections. It also is used to prevent recurrent rheumatic fever and chorea. Antibiotics will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections." So how can the dr say it's an virus and prescribe something that doesn't help a virus? He also said take the meds for 2 wks and come back if no better. But prescribed just 5 days of meds. I am so cross. I have a huge distrust in the knowledge of GPs. Didn't help he was an hour late. Now I'm making my poor sick kid choke down some nasty meds that probably won't help him and might make antibiotics less useful to him when he really needs them. Sorry, just needed a rant. Gaaaaahhhh!
  2. We've been out to admire the decorations. Some fantastic ones at the big houses on Marmora road. It's like being in America where Halloween is a big deal. There's some houses near the shops on lower Forest Hill Road and Colton. only 1 we could see on Dovedale. If anyone has spotted some good ones, let us know so we can make sure to have a look.
  3. Sketch by Oxford Circus is good fun for all.
  4. I know you said money is tight but if you can spare a little, Asos do some fab, fashionable, and cheap wedding dresses.
  5. We had karndean in our old house and it was good. Do shop around though. We bought ours at a bargain price from abbey carpets online. Saved a fortune.
  6. My 3 year old boy is responsible for collecting the post from the door when the postman delivers and bringing it to me. Putting his clothes in the right laundry basket after undressing and matches all of our socks when the laundry is done.

  15. It's not like it's less alcohol.
  16. I get frustrated by people who start putting in so much effort and don't maintain it. Frustrated because I want business to do well but it seems even the basics slip by. I spent a few mths wondering what the Potager even was. The writing on the window finally appeared and didn't make it any clearer. Because it said soups I assumed maybe you could eat in. All that beautiful space and it just sells veg at the back. Their opening times aren't always adhered to. It feels well awkward when you walk in, stone cold silence. They need a bit of vibe. Some welcoming music. They need to be clearer on their offering and for the offering to be better. They need to leaflet the local area encouraging locals to give them a try and explain what they are all about. They need to check their fruit displays in the window and clean out mouldy fruit from them. They need to sell St Johns bread if that's what pulls people in. Then when people come in for that they need to upsell. Therefore making the bread worth having. Maybe have a bread club (just made this up) where people sign up for say a month of weekly bread and pay up front and go and collect each weekend. They need to be inventive. It's a tough market and locals want to support businesses but they have to give us something to work with.

We do date night every Saturday as we have a young child and babysitting is expensive. We take it in turns to cook and choose the evenings entertainment and music. No iPads, phones or tv allowed. We sit at the kitchen table. It's nice. It's really helped us tune back in to each other. For that day at least :) Love all your ideas. Thanks so much. It's me again in two weeks so keep them coming.
