karter Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Katie, i dont do gin. Which coffee would you > drink? In no particular order, I like coffee at: Scoop (ice cream parlour) Homemade (Barry Rd) Gastronomia (across from the Plough) Blue Mountain Green & Blue Stall at North Cross market French Cafe on Forest Hill Road Cafe on the Rye Prettys There are plenty other local places I've yet to try for coffee too... Edited to add one I can't believe I forgot. Btw, I don't think the chain coffee place we have here is the worst of the chains either.

Please say its not just me getting older but WTF has happened to them? If you lived in a city*, you'd at least know that you were never far away from one ... complete with stern/lovely* (*delete as appropriate) caretaker in a swirly psychedelic patterned apron. They wouldn't dream of spritzing you with designer perfume or demanding money from you either. Now there's nowhere to go unless you pop into a cafe or a bar? And even then you can only use the facilities on production of a receipt in exchange for that magical pin code. Or the exact change. *If you lived in the countryside, no problemo!

Isn't Eat(s) a fine example of big business catering for idiots? karter - ED could do with a gin palace. Nowhere caters for that around here. Its a disgrace.

I don't think so. There's plenty of cafes and coffee shops here already. Edited to add: we need a new coffee chain in ED like we need a new bog-standard curry house.

Whatever happened to vanilla coke? No-one sells that anymore, do they?

Global Greece will leave the Eurozibe. Norway's exploration and development of new oil and gas potential will be phenomenal. Extra-virgin cold-pressed rapeseed oil will become the new olive oil. SE22-related The Curry Club will once again venture outside SE22 shock horror to the home of the Balti. The CPT will controversially be renamed to The Third Place only to revert to its former glory as The Crystal Palace Tavern, after much ado. Obligatory category for yearly predictions New diet craze will be the 17-Day Diet. New fitness item will be Kangoo Fitness Boots.

So Nette obviously got a new single speed bike for Christmas.... I don't think the cyclists that whizz through red lights are restricted only to those with single speed bikes either.

Actually they're not funny at all, are they? Well... they might be in a creepy 'Little Britain/League of Gentleman' sense.... Eurgh...they're all bloody weird! I'm retracting it from this thread. What was I thinking anyway?! Er....what time is it?!!

Otta, definitely try lime topped up with soda water and fresh mint. Its like a mojito (without the 'jito' or the 'mo'?!) Or fresh fruit juice esp grapefruit topped up with tonic water is good too. Irn bru lovers may wish to know there's a newsagent in ED that sells a 'limited edition' fiery version which is quite nice (coming from someone who doesn't like the original stuff tho).

1970s gang activity.

I quite like the CPT as it is but as many of my friends don't, I rarely get to meet them in there, which is a shame as its our local. Guess whoever is in the business has to do what it takes to stay in the game these days so best of luck to them. It would be nice to see the CPT spruced up a bit but not changed beyond all recognition. Serving food would be good as long as it wasn't over-priced and pretentious :)-D

Poor puppy. Fingers crossed someone reading the forum helps to reunite her with her owner or that she finds a new, loving owner instead. Colin, it was really lovely of you to look after her and take her to the vet, sounds like she needed some kindness.

I had a great meal at kebab & wine tonite, great value and a 5* rating to boot. Less than fifty quid for 20 of us :)-D

Family Christmas Photos *cringe*

This thread is really about ageing isn't it? Feeling older, weary, out of touch, blissful youth slipping away never to return...just didn't expect it to be started by the handsome, young Mr Ben...

Its plain, bland food. You know, without chillies and stuff. Life will be like it used to be in the 1940s and 1950s when no-one had any money. No cars, less travel and definitely no foreign food. Plain food* is the future, not Europe. Edited to add: *but there won't be much to go round.

Blimey, I imagine it'd take quite a while to polish that. Makes my arm ache just thinking about it.

maxxi and to think YOU told Annette off for vulgarity. THIS is the chandelier thread (at the moment), some decorum please. (But very astute of you to er, think of yachts)

Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > An I stoned, or is this thread really weird? On my weird-o-meter, its going waaaaay off the scale. Have had more sensible conversations with people off their tits on a ketamine and acid cocktail. After taking ten double doves and some speed.
