  1. Well, It has been known to go off in one's hand rather quickly. Love the sour cherry recipe, ta.
  2. Maxxi - a teaspoon of gunpowder tea sorbet is just the thing. Finished with a macchiato for me and a braggadocio for my gentleman friend. Back on topic, has anyone been on a grouse shoot or planning on going on one?
  3. A soothing sorbet perhaps, Nette? Something seasonal and refreshing?
  4. Will there be a palate cleanser?
  5. Got any recipes Nette dear? I normally find game far too rich.
  6. Tsk tsk you're a day late and I expected this thread from you yesterday, Nette. The thread title makes me think of Bugs Bunny for some reason.* Anyway, why is there a peg on that red grouse? *wabbit season is why.
  7. Wow. Can't believe the (royal!!) turn out last night. Lovely to meet everyone, old and especially new. Huge thanks go to Jaws for arranging it. The Gowlett has to be one of the TOP places to meet, I reckon. k xx *removes peg from clothing* *huge grin*
  8. edresi - I don't think Brendan was seriously engaging with those previous posts. For good reason. Anyway, I have just heard news on the radio and apparently some council has decided to evict tenants as their son was convicted of taking part in the riots/looting. Don't know any more than that.
  9. Haha no-one needs to dig deep enough to finally you out. You did it all by yourself. And, yes, there are loads of threads about noisy animals at night but I don't think they're going to log on to defend their reputation. Seriously, let's see if - for example - one of the North Cross/Crystal Palace Road residents starts a 'wtf...noise from the Actress' thread. Wouldn't the people who run the Actress equally wish to put forward their view on that thread? Enjoy your skive.
  10. 'Same old faces every night'? You must be quite a regular there then Matt, or do you prefer to be known as granadaland? Nice edit. Edited to say: this response is to MattBrown/Granadaland who posted an identical message.
  11. The thread title doesn't say "noisy karaoke, not dissing FhT but tad peeved as I cannot sleep". Not everyone reads the threads but will spot the title. Fair enough its a pain not being able to sleep but I would be starting a thread about noisy foxes every night in that case. Also, I don't own or run a local business but rather suspect that if I did, I would be coming on here if I saw anything regarding it whether people were happy, angry or a tad peeved. I suspect Frankito didn't mean it that badly though but that's because I have read a lot of their good humoured posts, which is probably not the case for the FHT.
  12. The Glorious 12th has arrived so I guess they could now. Perhaps they should be trained up as beaters for a shoot and put themselves to some use. Going back to the thread, I don't think any ED shop is safe. Look at the expensive baby clothes shop and organic wholefoods place in Ealing that were smashed up.
  13. Granadaland, did you read the title of the thread? its hardly complimentary to the FHT. I disagree with the view that going on a local public forum to complain about a local business, as the first and perhaps only course of action, is the right way to go about addressing an issue. If you have problems with noise, be it from neighbours or a local business, why not let them know by speaking to them first. Anything else is just venting and if the OP had already tried speaking to the FHT to no avail then I guess starting a thread about it is what anyone so frustrated may do. Nice post from the FHT. Have only been there once and found it very welcoming.
  14. What a shame to forget Chris Huhne - one of the richest members of the current Cabinet. Now how many houses ('homes') has he got?, its either 7 or 9. Did he manage to lie and wriggle his way out of the speeding offences in one of his many cars?
  15. Sorry Mockney wasn't singling you out!! Just meant it in general after your post helped explain why the forum isn't really all about people hiding behind keyboards/usernames etc. There are so many activities to join in with here in ED so that even if you don't fancy drinks there's curry, fitness, films, games books etc that you end up meeting fellow forumites anyway. And I'm sure that a) is not the case either :)

I'd like to think that regular posters are still attending the drinks when they can. Have to say its been great to see some of those regulars pop their heads in the door from time to time when I went along. Good on those who have stepped up to see that the drinks continue as the forum's membership gets larger. Everyone I have met in person has been great to have a beer with. *inserts that cheers smiley thing*

Strafer, I have spotted a fair few on here that have not cited their sources and yes, the DR is most likely where it happens most. Perhaps no-one mentions it as its become the norm. As an aside, why anyone would want to cut and paste anything - be it from the Daily Mail, Guardian, FT or blasted Wikipedia, to deliberately pass off as their own - is beyond me. And if anyone is reluctant to cite their source on here if it does not broadly concur with views of some of the most frequent posters is a dispiriting thought. (Excusing any offensive/inflammatory material of course).

Or rather find a nice fence to sit on. The outlook is a bit dull but its safer here.
  20. I must admit I have recently been considering withdrawing my support for the Marmite page. The god-awful recipes in their endless newsfeeds has not helped.
  21. Agree that the country went mental when Diana died a tragic death. But Diana was a very well recognised (rightly or wrongly much loved by many) public figure and everyone seemed to think that they knew her and became a professional mourner when she died. Not saying that I'm agreeing with either approach but I don't think this is the same thing at all. Isn't this more to do with our (as in ordinary people)* ability to communicate our feelings and concerns in a more rapid and public manner via status updates on facebook, instant messaging etc and we are now generally less accustomed to keeping things private and within immediate circles of family and friends? And perhaps even more so when we feel (rightly or wrongly) that the authorities are to blame? * as in not famous/in the public eye/royalty. Not meant as any less important.
  22. I think its been nice to hear some views from new people joining the forum - although agree with rosie that some we could have done without. This isn't one of them and to be fair to MrPoole, not everyone who starts a thread means to start one that has repeated sentiments expressed elsewhere on the forum. I don't think their post is cliched at all but some of the responses on here are. I remember starting a thread about the delays to the 12 when I first joined here and another user helpfully pointed me towards the right thread.
  23. I'll stop churning these out now. See you on Friday - cheers Jaws x
  24. Don't butter him up now maxxi...
