  1. may I have bonus ball number 30 please woof? Thank you so much for doing this btw. (see you in a month if you're reading LM)
  2. the fact that the username 'jrussel' has only one 'l' irrational? indeed.
  3. jrussel Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Someone said something about this being a 'private > forum open to the public'... you what!? der...read it again jrussel. I read 'a private forum used by the public'.

The owner may have told the OP that "the vet said the dog was ok" however if this was contradictory to the appearance of the dog then they would likely - and rightly - take that remark with a pinch of salt. > I'm currently on holiday in Greece, and you should > see the way the dogs are treated out here! Anyway, I'm off to the beach to top > up my tan. :) waynetta - it may be that the dogs you are seeing in Greece are strays, rather than pets, so are not being deliberately mistreated by humans (not that I am saying that its OK). For several years I lived in a country where stray, seriously underfed dogs are commonplace, its very distressing either way. kamila - I am not an expert on greyhounds by any means but if the dogs are like the photos you have posted on here, well...I would definitely query whether a vet has said that the dogs are ok and yes, contacting an animal welfare charity for advice would likely be the best advice (as DJKQ gives above). I think its admirable that you care for animal welfare and have posted on here for constructive advice.

I agree with that. How can we possibly get all the housework and cooking done if we are in the pub? Honestly. There's only so many hours in the day. Edit - I have seen peanuts on sale in ED pubs. They are 'traditional' bar snacks are they not?

  8. LM thanks - wow 11 pages!! including posts from the *notorious* bigbadwolf who was 'before my time' but.....he is very funny on this thread, can I say that? oh, I already did. am I going off topic? whooops sorry HonaloochieB, I do, of course, think you are marvellous and for that reason I won't publicly admit to not knowing who this Mott character is. Not in public anyway. PS. I did 'get' the Kramer begging reference if that counts for anything? B) *back pedals*

If a company has been given an allocation of carbon and they then have to buy more from the (rapidly-growing) market, that does not actually mean that they are reducing greenhouse gases. Carbon trading allocates money to industries and there is a lot of short-term profit to be made from the market. Targets cannot be set too highly either or the carbon price would soar. This in turn can seriously affect investment decisions by companies eg. investing in new technologies. Edited to add: so carbon trading does not necessarily provide the solution. > > Perhaps a big tax on flying say 100% and > > an extra tax on airline fuel would help. What if the airline was using biofuels? ;) > Why should flying (a very small part of total > carbon footprint) be taxed more and having > children be subsidised? Fair point but children do pay taxes when they grow up and sometimes they have new ideas which help us to progress.
  10. I really cannot decide which bonus number to choose. But I will think about it very carefully. In the meantime, don't let anyone else choose the number I want.

I kid you not I tried the search function to find it after I first heard that such a thread existed (from a forumite at the barry road race) and too many HB things came up. with huge thanks :) Katie1684.5
  12. Dum spiro, spero. Firstly, please check if it was UCL who organised this recording? I agree, academics aren't as quick as 'business' people to reply but don't hold that against them, they aren't all snotty! PS. Forum is from latin :))

  15. Try this cycle route thread for ideas. Also not sure if there might be some other routes on the cycling issues/advice thread good luck
  16. I have been with Vodafone since I got my first mobile and have never had any problems with them. I live near North Cross Road and have never had any trouble with reception since moving here. So I say go for it lenster and good luck (tu)
  17. OMFG I cannot believe this thread. Hate all this 'class' prejudice. Fair enough if you don't like what the WI does here then feel free to start your own group. I consider myself to be 'working class' because I have to work* The truth is, I'd be blissfully happy if I could spend the rest of my life baking, making jam and learning how to decorate cupcakes. As long as I didn't have to do any ghastly sewing, ugh. I could even be tempted by learning how to make bunting.... *well I don't really but it gives me a sense of achievement.

  21. I have been talking to strangers on the internet. I'm not really a 13 year old. I don't like milk. I pretended I had left the house much earlier than I really had and blamed my lateness on 'traffic' delays* I think that the idea of writing about 'online communities' is an interesting one from a psychological point of view. I think online personas can tell us a lot about people and their behaviour. *i have lots more confessions on this theme.
