HonaloochieB, this got me thinking.......where are Doreen and Stan when you need them? And if you ask me, which you didn't, but I will pontificate anyway...it seems like Edith's chest 'problems' are suspiciously like Ken's. Just a trifling observation mind. *retreats to the snug*

Gosh - I travel past this most days, makes me realise how much I have got used to it being there. I didn't realise that its time was up! I personally don't see this way of protesting as making a difference. So is the original protestor staying on in the same place then?

Whitby, North Yorkshire (tu) Visited last summer - amazing coastline and harbour, winding cobbled streets, great museum thats not been dumbed down, old steam railway trips through the scenic moors, local art, fish & chips everywhere you turn although the magpie cafe is best, ancient Abbey, Dracula*, jewellery shops selling jurassic jet, maritime history and Captain Cook. Its fab up there, try it. *All the hotels and b&b's seemed to go in for vampire-related 'decor', including coffins for beds** We were told they have a gothic festival every year. Not sure what this involves. ** I made that bit up.

Thats fair enough Sue, I also took it to be a thread for anyone to talk about the street parties coming up and think (hope) that most can decide for themselves which is most convenient/appealing. Best of luck to everyone, clearly a lot of effort and hard work by the organisers. Might pop along to my nearest one - Sunday is a lazy day after all :) -
yay - not long to go till the picnic and those light rainy showers B) strawbs, CC, giggirl and anyone else who cannot make it, sorry we won't see you and hope you have a f-a-b weekend to those that are coming, can't wait to meet you/see you again (most intrigued by these musketeers) so I haven't made anything either :-$ I predict an early morning dash around the shops of ED for wine (seeking out the fabulous dry rose I tried in G&B earlier this week), some breads, olives and tapas-y, meze type things. And spam. (lady) katharina vdp -x-

People putting cones out to reserve parking spots

I hear what you're saying and I thoroughly agree. Providing a (valued) community service is a whole lot different from being a selfish, lazy motherfucker and putting cones outside your own house for personal use. -

Yes, lets ask them to continue as they were 'leaning on the fence' and 'just loitering outside' and 'let them get on with their day' e.g. by being verbally abusive and using threatening behaviour.
