  1. Criterion in Fulham is good for inspiration
  2. Picked up a Samosa and Veggie Roti from Cheese Block. They're so good.
  3. snorky I took this last night and thought of you. Looks like the Conservatives have come up with the answer. (Can I flog a limited run through you, say ?500 a pop framed?)
  4. :))
  5. snorky I like most of your posts but you do talk some bollox sometimes. Having an innate love of your kids does not make you devoid of grey matter. All shops (in other words a business) are in it for the profit (even a charity shop). If you don't turn over a profit you can't continue to provide a service no matter how irrelevant to you it might be. Ultimately the market dictates its existence.
  6. How people spend there own cash is up to them. Why does it need to be critised in such an abhorent way? Whether it's a pair of designer toddler jeans or a piece of art it's personal taste. No one forces you to like it or do the same. There are far worse things going on than a baby boutique opening up and selling to a market that obviously exists. It seems that the people knocking it haven't even shopped there.
  7. Aren't these the same people who can afford to splash out a few ?k on a Banksy so they can show their friends how cultured they are?
  8. I actually won the lottery. I can't begin to tell you how much my life has changed since. The way I live, the relationships with my friends and family, the shiny new toys I bought and more. Yes ?10 really did go a long way in 1994!
  9. What a bunch of Victor Meldrews you are! Surely if there's a market for the shop it will succeed and one would think the proprieters have done their research. It's all part of the ED evolution for better or worse. Otherwise the choices are move somewhere else with the profits of gentrification, make a protest banner and march up and down or create what you want yourselves. I'd love to see a Sushi bar in ED. Anyone want to help me finance and set it up?
  10. Build it and they wil come . . .
  11. (tu)
  12. I think we need to start a curry club to finally settle for all which is best in each curry category. btw is there a South Indian Curry House in ED?
  13. zephyr have you got 3 triangles tattoed on your bod or what? This recycling lark is so confusing. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for it but I wonder how much productivity gets lost tearing out envelope windows and trying to work out which plastic to recycle. Then when you visit another council district they've a whole new set of rules and an intimidating array of coloured recycle bins. Cut my finger badly washing a tin to recycle and realised the plasters weren't recyclable so did that cancel it out! Example: Dragons Den last night. Bloke designs recycling bin and gets roasted by PJ because it recycles plastic bags!
  14. Surely if it succeeds that's good news? No shortage of garden centers but there is a shortage of low cost accommmodation in ED. Surely good for ED economy too.
  15. I took a pleasant walk up CG yesterday. It's not all posh. There is a good selection of lower cost accommodation as well as workshop/offices all co-existing together. No need to posh bash. This idea of the rich oppressing the poor is surely out dated and possibly a bit too inward looking. Surely it's US, the Western world oppressing those in the developing world with unfair trade deals, mineral exploitation, military oppression etc.
  16. I'm ashamed. Did the quiz and only scored 2 out of 10.
  17. Yes I'll be there this time. Looking forward to it.

What is it with Tucany? I nearly ran over someone I'd met in Talinn on the way to shopping at the coop in Pienza!

  21. Nice one CWLD! I'm not sure what it involves but it sounds interesting and I'm sure there will be further benefits down the line. Hope it doesn't mean you'll be too busy or knackered to post!
  22. I had several convertables from the late 80's to late 90's and loved them then for several reasons: 1) They weren't as common then. Now everything including Nissan Micra's are convertible. 2) I was a young turk and liked showing off. 3) Enjoyed dropping or raising the roof at the touch of a button when stsnding at traffic lights in front of a crowded bus stop when the weather changed. 4) Pre the days of speed camera's you really could feel the wind in your hair, though I did use copious amounts of gel on work days! 5) Never had a Kebab attack although was once hit by a crunched up ball of paper from a 4th floor office in Wigmore St. 6) Always attracted attention in traffic jams and often met some nice people. 7) Nothing better than two girls sitting in the back flashing their tits to coach parties as you fly down the M3 to the coast on a hot July day. 8) For touring holidays on continental Europe it's essential, especially if you happen to be in Barcelona. 9) On the way back from a party if one of the passengers has had to much to drink you don't need to worry about opening the windows quickly. 10) You can take tall plants home without crushing them.
  23. I'm pro-abortion. Always have been. When I was in my teens/early twenties I didn't place a high value on the unborn foetus. Too me abortion was basically another form of contraception. When my first child was accidently conceived I desperately argued with my partner to abort. She refused. Thankfully. Everytime I look at my eldest I feel a tinge of guilt that if I had my way due to my stupidity and ignorance he wouldn't be around today. Problem is not the abortion process itself. It's balancing access to the procedure versus persuading people to avoid being in the situation in the first place. I think in the majority of cases, with young girls, it's seen as just another form of contaception and not as a potential human life. Abortion is a womans right, whatever the reason. Where possible the partner and medical profession should have an input but not the final say.
  24. Worst job ever: Selling life insurance. All that endless cold calling and persistent persuasion in order to earn a pathetic commission nearly drove me insane. When Richard Branson kicked me off his barge I decided it was time to try something else. Most rewarding: Working at a funfair on the Bumper Cars during the school holidays. Endless totty!
  25. Cycled up Camberwell Grove yesterday morning. The sun was shining and the sky was a clear blue which really highlighted the autumnal colours of this beautiful treelined road with eloquent Georgian architecture on either side (ignoring the 50's council block). Definitely one of my favourite roads in South London (new thread?). Felt quite privileged that as a member of the "Riff Raff" fraternity I was able to cycle through unchallenged. Can't blame Maurice and his neighbours for wanting to keep this little slice of beautiful London all to themselves. Though did have this odd feeling that an AK47 laser sight was being trained on the back of my head. Maurice?
