  1. P.Rose, it's going to get noisy when mum and babies separate - they scream a lot.
  2. Sue I don't. They like a lot of snakes standing on end (that's from a distance and with my eyesight). Between 2 and 10 inches, thick stem like asparagus and ending in a closed-tulip-shaped head with lots of white bobbles on them. [i hope I never have to do an identity parade.]
  3. If you get time this week, go and have a look at the magnolia tree in the Japanese Garden in Peckham Rye. It is absolutely stunning at the moment. Does anyone know what the strange looking flowers/weeds are in Brenchley Gardens - near the bench overlooking the golf course? Nearest thing I can think of is a red hot poker except they are not red! Lots of speedwell about too which must be one of the prettiest weeds.
  4. That's mean brum - I have no eggs in the house and I want a fried egg sarnie now.
  5. I fancy Eric's Charm, but I always think e/w is a bit pussy. I'll put a fiver on to win and split it with you David if miracles happen (now I know where my local bookies is!)
  6. I saw a lovely butterfly today too - think it was a Painted Lady. Finally found violets in profusion today in Old Camberwell Cemetery. When we were children, the Sunday School would go out the day before Mothering Sunday to the woods and pick wild flowers to make posies. I remembered collecting primroses, cowslips, buttercups, daisies, anemones and violets. Since I hadn't seen any violets I thought I must have imagined it. Our poor mothers - the posies must have been a wilted mess by the time they received them.
  7. I think Brum just wants to be a heroine in a Victorian melodrama. Narnia will bring smelling salts, the fever will break and Huguenot will visit wearing a fetching mob cap and carrying a bowl of calfsfoot jelly. Next time, Brum, don't lace your stays so tightly.
  8. Good to lower temperature - you don't want your brain to frazzle.
  9. Have to second the Archduke Winebar - always had a great time there.
  10. Nope. Though I was about to be v. sarcastic so probably just as well!
  11. Well that's bloody weird.
  12. Just testing - my posts won't appear in the 'for sale' section.
  13. I've just seen a Manx fox run into St John's Churchyard. Quite an amusing sight though probably his brush was lost in some gruesome way.
  14. But David's so charismatic!
  15. You're probably right, it was always Kent Walton for me.
  16. Martin Lewis' site gives lots of good advice for getting out of debt, including bankruptcy: money saving expert
  17. Oh for goodness sake, what do they teach in schools these days? The Quiet Man is a classic 1952 film with John Wayne playing a boxer (Sean Thornton) who killed someone in the ring and refuses to fight again until the epic Irish battle shown in the clip above. Which only goes to show that Ruiz or someone on his team has a better sense of irony than you.
  18. Any chance of the organ grinder himself? It is his local forum after all. Amina, I'm sure you are genuine but you are coming across as his spin doctor which is a tad irritating, even the fragrant Tessa Jowell stoops to appear on here sometimes.
  19. Not so fast.
  20. Nah, the quiet man was Trooper Thorn aka Sean Thornton.
  21. Eejit. Liking the look of the Third Division tonight - just need Leeds to lose their next game.
  22. I've eaten horse meat in Paris - well what do you expect in Pigalle?
  23. Confusingly, EDmummy, the road that runs down the side of St John's Church and Goose Green is also called East Dulwich Road.
  24. The pride of English football was upheld last night at Millwall. England 1 Spain 0 - daughter reports it was very good.
  25. Nah - acronyms seem the trend, just call it TUT.
