  1. Search 'broadband test'. MoneySuperMarket and Which? have them.
  2. Sky, which was terrible, 3/4Mb/min average. Threatened to go to BT and now they've given us fibre optic and it's 20mb/s
  3. One lane, roadworks
  4. It's mixed scrap, so leave it out and it'll go. Chuck the glass rotating plate in the recycling bin.
  5. There does seem to be more of it lately. All seems to be the same size dog too.

Presumably you'd agree to one installed in your front room, pointed at you then? As long as you don't break any rules...
  8. There's going to be a load of tickets issued to pizza delivery mopeds, I reckon
  9. I don't think it's illegal to park on this kind of hatching - it's only there to define the road. This urban style of hatching isn't even in the highway code. Pulled out of there tonight - it's like having to look around a single storey building while that Enterprise van is there. I said ages ago, before the expensive build-out was put in, that there should be two cars' length of double-yellows on the right hand sides on that junction, but instead, they went for the expensive option.
  10. You or your car? What colour?
  11. It's a viral ad, designed to go...viral. Job done.
  12. I recommend this combination of chain and padlock, with a ground/wall anchor: http://www.bumpstop.co.uk/products/accessories/chain-and-padlock/
  13. Apart from the permit bit. Mine's usually chained to the house via a ground anchor; never had a problem with it there. The anchors are pretty cheap and a really good chain is around ?50-150, which is much cheaper than the higher premiums after a theft.
  14. Attempted theft of my bike just now, in the Fellbrigg area. Youths on 125 scooter, lump hammer/chisel on lock. Rode off towards the Rye. Police attended pretty swiftly.

    So....

So, what are you going to do about it?
  16. The 'high street' for this area should be along the river, where there are already bars and restaurants. That'll keep the new residents happy (and this folly will be driven by the new US embassy arriving, for sure). Meanwhile, those of us who have to cycle, drive, catch buses, change trains/tubes, can carry on as we are.
  17. How did they get confirmation of the delivery though? Did they have access to the email account associated with your Amazon account? All assuming the item was tracked etc
  18. How did the 'sleazeballs' know a) a neighbour had it, and b) which neighbour had it?
  19. I'd love to know how much this 20mph project cost. Portsmouth has one, and it cost ?550,000. It also didn't work: http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/business/local-business/20mph-limits-in-firing-line-after-rise-in-accidents-1-4027011
  20. @huggers - it was the other guy, probably. You're in the clear.
  21. @huggers - it's meant to be a 30mph camera http://www.scdb.info/software/statistik_detail.php?sc_language_selector=fr&speedtraps_id=13038
  22. @huggers - I think there might be at least two 20mph cameras over in Nunhead, one on Linden and one on Brenchley Gardens, both 20mph roads long before the blanket 20mph zone was introduced. BTW, if the camera was facing your when it flashed, it's not you. And if it flashed once, it's just a glitch.
  23. Well, the one by Peckham Rye is still set for 30, because I drove through it doing that the other day (and so did everyone in front of me, including two buses and a police car).
  24. Drive to suit the conditions, keep your eyes on the road, stay off your phone and no-one will get hurt.
