  1. You or your car? What colour?
  2. It's a viral ad, designed to go...viral. Job done.
  3. I recommend this combination of chain and padlock, with a ground/wall anchor: http://www.bumpstop.co.uk/products/accessories/chain-and-padlock/
  4. Apart from the permit bit. Mine's usually chained to the house via a ground anchor; never had a problem with it there. The anchors are pretty cheap and a really good chain is around ?50-150, which is much cheaper than the higher premiums after a theft.
  5. Attempted theft of my bike just now, in the Fellbrigg area. Youths on 125 scooter, lump hammer/chisel on lock. Rode off towards the Rye. Police attended pretty swiftly.

    So....

So, what are you going to do about it?
  7. The 'high street' for this area should be along the river, where there are already bars and restaurants. That'll keep the new residents happy (and this folly will be driven by the new US embassy arriving, for sure). Meanwhile, those of us who have to cycle, drive, catch buses, change trains/tubes, can carry on as we are.
  8. How did they get confirmation of the delivery though? Did they have access to the email account associated with your Amazon account? All assuming the item was tracked etc
  9. How did the 'sleazeballs' know a) a neighbour had it, and b) which neighbour had it?
  10. I'd love to know how much this 20mph project cost. Portsmouth has one, and it cost ?550,000. It also didn't work: http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/business/local-business/20mph-limits-in-firing-line-after-rise-in-accidents-1-4027011
  11. @huggers - it was the other guy, probably. You're in the clear.
  12. @huggers - it's meant to be a 30mph camera http://www.scdb.info/software/statistik_detail.php?sc_language_selector=fr&speedtraps_id=13038
  13. @huggers - I think there might be at least two 20mph cameras over in Nunhead, one on Linden and one on Brenchley Gardens, both 20mph roads long before the blanket 20mph zone was introduced. BTW, if the camera was facing your when it flashed, it's not you. And if it flashed once, it's just a glitch.
  14. Well, the one by Peckham Rye is still set for 30, because I drove through it doing that the other day (and so did everyone in front of me, including two buses and a police car).
  15. Drive to suit the conditions, keep your eyes on the road, stay off your phone and no-one will get hurt.
  16. Just do this: http://www.roadsafetygb.org.uk/news/3817.html
  17. The chipped concrete part can't be touched - it's private, belonging to that 1960s parade of shops.
  18. Greener: solar-powered; safer: light in the shadows cast by trees. Something like that. And like planters and hanging baskets in the summer, they just look nice. France and Germany have been doing this for years, and the Southbank is lit all year round.
  19. Cheap solar-power white LED lights in all the trees on Lordship Lane, so it looks like this through the winter months: [attached]
  20. I use an Oxford anchor bracket bolted to the front of the house, with an English Chain & lock, both Thatcham approved. No problems yet.
  21. There was one outside the Franklin shop a couple of autumns ago
  22. Good work. Was the bike chained up in the street, or on a frontage?
  23. In Goose Green park on friday afternoon. RayBan style black with white patterned inside. PM if you know anything!
