  1. Black cabs have only this year started using 2.8L Euro6 diesels, so, pretty much all of them are running older tech. Their own website says the Euro6 is 71% more efficient than Euro5. All old cabs, plus the 13-year-old million-mile 53-plate buses I pedal behind up Dog Kennel Hill, spewing out visible particulates, should be addressed ASAP. Lead by example.
  2. The camera doesn't cover the lower part of the bus lane. Yet.
  3. Every year this debate comes up. Just remove the traffic light Pelican crossings and replace them with simple table-top Zebra crossings, like on Peckham Rye. Those green traffic lights give a false sense of priority for drivers, some of whom confuse them for junction lights, so speed up to try and 'beat' them.
  4. They were seen trying to drive off in a car with wobbly wheels and very loose doors.
  5. That car will be clipped by a truck before long

Too may unfortunate > 3rd party deaths when the criminals lose control > under pursuit by police. There must be a smarter > way to catch these people. The police told me the thieves take to the pavement and alleyways when being pursued, so there is some sense in their actions.

I know bus lane cameras are usually small CCTV units on posts, often doubling up as traffic monitoring cameras. There was one outside Denmark Hill station, but it's been taken down.
  8. It's pushed the parked cars right into the path of vehicles turning left from Lyndhurst Grove. Nearly caught be out while riding past the other night when I was confronted with a dark car jutting out right on the corner.
  9. All linked to the ongoing spate of motorbike thefts, made all the more possible by the police having their wings clipped in the pursuit of the perpetrators.
  10. I think the bin men are fine around here. They even take large cardboard boxes left next to the blue bin. Always courteous too.
  11. The Sainsbury's part (on the UP section) doesn't seem to be covered by a camera. It's the section at the top AFAIK.
  12. When I cycle in a bus lane, it's the taxis and buses that scare me, squeezing past impatiently. When I take the motorbike, I behave like pretty much all fellow motorcyclists, courteously keeping to the right of the lane. Remember, we're vulnerable road users too.
  13. It'll be an alternative to Co-op or M&S sarnies at lunchtime, for anyone working in the offices on the lane.
  14. Their bread is made of thin air and is so salty.
  15. There isn't a camera there, as far as I can see (and this is where the problem is!)
  16. There is indeed a new camera, a small, silver device on a lamppost on the Sainsbury's 'up' side of the hill, about 60m from the lights at the top. It's clearly designed to catch motorists cutting the top section of the bus lane in order to turn left. Probably best to stay to the right, especially motorbikes. HOWEVER: if you do get a ticket, remember that the camera operator should observe the offence for at least 20 metres, or five car lengths, for it to be valid.
  17. I'm with you. TfL allow bikes in almost all their bus lanes, as it was proven to safer. DKH is a prime candidate for this, along with Walworth Road.
  18. They might've realised that because they were issued before the warning signs went up, they were illegal.
  19. There doesn't seem to be a camera on the side of the road, so I suspect these images are from the front of a bus, probably the new hybrid 40s. Who was the ticket from? Southwark or TfL?
  20. "Just got home and opened a PCN for crossing the last part white line at the top of Dog Kennel hill just about to turn right into Champion Hill. I been up there to have a look and noticed there are these new cameras on the top of lamp posts. There white in colour and about the size of a dinner plate. I did not notice any signs for cameras on the way up but did notice one at the bottom on the way down were there's another one by traffic lights for bus lane. So beware when driving on Dog Kennel hill if you need to do a right hand turn." This must've been a red light camera fine, for crossing the pressure pads by the white stop line.
  21. The signage is pretty clear and alway has been. Whether it's 'technically' correct is another thing. As an occasional motorcyclist, however, I wish we could use it too, especially on the downhill section. The brick flowerbeds on the inside aren't very bike friendly.
  22. I'm sure it's marked as 'At Any Time'. There isn't a camera there, so must've been from a bus or a spy car.
  23. Before the GBK arrived was a short-lived wine bar on the site. Had a simple name, like 'The East Dulwich Wine Bar' or something.
