  1. The music was from the Dulwich Ukelele lot. Consider it a free performance!
  2. .
  3. There are cameras just 100m away, north of the junction. Sunbob is correct, green traffic lights give a false sense of priority and cause cars to speed. Whenever lights are broken, traffic crosses junctions with care and using eye contact, one of the pillars of the safestreets movement.
  4. Failing to report an accident, more than just naughty: points and a fine or even a ban. Good work!
  5. ...because I left my very expensive hand-sculpted orthopaedic insoles in them! They look like tatty old insoles, with edges ground down. The Converse were left at the big Hospice shop on Lordship Lane last week. A long shot, I know!
  6. My trusty old Honda CBR600F. Yellow and turquoise, reg T626JGN. Last seen parked up in Hansler Road, near Dell's on Friday lunchtime. Anyone see anything dodgy?
  7. Inside72 did a great Sunday roast too. *wipes saliva from chin*. What was that short-lived place where Gourmet Burger is now? The East Dulwich Bistro? Looked like a bar on a cross channel ferry.
  8. James, average speed cameras won't stop motorists from driving through the zebra crossing. It would probably make it worse. The souuthend camera set-up covers the sea front road, not an urban road with many turn offs. And I still believe these big brother like devices are more likely to cause distraction - a bigger cause of accidents than speed - by forcing drivers to keep looking at their speedo rather than the road. A couple of table top crossings is the solution, like the new one on LL.
  9. Yep, on Hansler and elsewhere in SE22 too: http://www.streetartnews.net/2012/05/stik-new-murals-in-london-part-iv.html

    Geocache

Haven't seen the Peckham rye one yet, but found one of the two cashes in Dulwich wood yesterday. The kids loved it.
  11. Not sure it's the new road layout. Possibly the position of the bus stop by ED station. When two buses pull up, it blocks the road back to the crossing, and it's dangerous (and illegal) to overtake there. It's usually clear after then, up to Denmark Hill station.
  12. Happened to us once because of a blocked drain outside. Call Thames Water and insurance. Got most out in buckets and the rest just soaked away (after the drain was unblocked). Insurance paid for air dryers and dehumidifiers for two weeks.
  13. Yes. about the same cut as ebay
  14. amazon marketplace? I resisted the obvious one.
  15. Thank goodness for that. This thread was getting a bit like this:
  16. Put something on your car that will distinguish it from any speed camera/parking fine/bank job CCTV footage - a GB sticker, baby on board sticker etc.
  17. Live up to your name, and deal out some Es. That would liven it up.
  18. Sounds like mistaken identity
  19. Game activity.
  20. If your track rod end snapped, there would be a skids mark from the point of impact, from your collapsed wheel.
  21. Check the kerb further along the road too, there may be scuff marks etc At least she's put herself in the car at the time of the accident. Also, why would she leave the scene if she thinks you were to blame too? Too many holes in the story.
  22. Sure a few quid could've been diverted from the ?500k Grove Vale 'improvement' scheme.
  23. James B is right in suggesting that zebra crossings would've been the better option. Despite being out of favour these days, they actually promote the concept of eye contact between road users which is one of the principles of the living streets movement. Traffic lights, especially ones located near junctions, create a false sense of priority and can cause motorists to dash through ambers and greens. The crossings on Barry road suffers from this. And traffic lights cause congestion. Look at the chaos with those temporary roadworks lights.
