  2. It is a taster of what a traffic light-controlled junction at ED Road would be like.

In inner Melbourne suburbs, parking permits are given out FREE to residents, to stop shoppers and commuters taking up spaces in residential streets.
  4. For councils, the word 'Experimental', like the word 'temporary' generally means 'permanent'. Like those 'temporary' traffic lights on Forest Hill Road.
  5. The smart meter is great. I had the microwave, washer, oven and kettle on the other day and it nearly exploded.
  6. Yes, off LL. Clocks messed up.
  7. Hence the dubious permit fee links to a vehicle's CO2 emissions, even if the car is parked all day long.
  8. James, you forgot about the ones trialled in Southwark: http://jamesbarber.mycouncillor.org.uk/2010/08/20/20mph-average-speed-cameras/
  9. They sound a bit bigger than six-sheets.
  10. FENTON! JESUS CHRIST!
  11. No restrictions on Saturday. They're probably after double-yellow parkers on corner by the cashpoints.
  12. SE21 7DG is Calton Ave...

It's about to have its fair share of 'road design-related' accidents, like that VW Polo that struck the poorly-located centre bollard a few weeks ago.
  15. Max height is 100mm. This one is way higher than that and the red paint and gouges on the edges of it suggest that buses are striking it already. I suspect that the resurfacing of the road either side of it will make it lower. My problem is that it's a situated on a bend. I've said before on here that such a severe change to the road surface in such a location is dangerous for two-wheelers.
  16. Agreed - all parties are at it. Tory Barnet and Westminster are among the worst in the country.
  17. CPZs spread, like drops of oil on water, until whole areas are covered and everyone's paying ?100+ for permits, with fewer parking spaces and parking attendants scanning the area for the slightest misdemeanour.
  18. A big recycling bin can only be a good thing; better if the 'everything else' bin was half the size, or contained a splitter with one half for composting and one half for the non-recyclable.
  19. APCOA's shareholders will be up in arms.
  20. @ myname here: A Parking Enforcement system has to be run with the utmost integrity When it's run as a private profit-making enterprise, as all council contracts are, this is impossible.
  21. Your answer will be on one the forums on this site: http://www.landlordzone.co.uk/
  22. Anyway, they're not speed camera cars. Not equipped or certified for it. They're really only used to nab bad parkers and no-right-turners.
  23. I completely agree. The place looks overrun with blue bins. No consideration whatsoever to the visual impact on the environment. This should've been the solution, used on the continent and in Australia: http://www.zero-2-land.ndo.co.uk/Split%20wheelie%20bin..jpg But, as Loz says, it's too late and the money has been spent.
