The following article is taken directly from Southwark News (http://www.southwarknews.co.uk/00,news,11879,6102,00.htm) and talks about the possibilty of Boris not giving the go ahead for the Cross River tram. The Peckham Town Centre Management Group, along with other key stake holders, believes that the tram will be a major catalyst for improvements in the area, which will also have positive added advantages for East Dulwich. At the bottom of this article, there is the ability to sign an electronic petition supporting the tram, and I would ask every member of the forum to visit the link and sign the petition. Many thanks in advance. -------------------------- Article follows -------------------------------- A BUS journey with a difference will take place in Peckham next Tuesday, as it seeks to demonstrate the need for the Cross River Tram by following its proposed route. The tram plan, developed under former Mayor Ken Livingstone?s rule, has still not received the public backing of new Mayor Boris Johnson during his campaign or after his election. Tram campaigners are stepping up the pressure to ensure the scheme gets the go ahead. They have now arranged the bus journey as part of the campaign. An open top sightseeing bus will be at Peckham Square at 7.30am and will leave at 8am. It will follow part of the proposed route, going through North Peckham, the Aylesbury Estate and Elephant and Castle before crossing the bridge at Waterloo. Phil Bale, Chair of the Evolution Quarter Residents' Association, who have been leading the campaign, said: "This is an opportunity to show why the tram is important and to show why Transport for London (TfL) has pushed it as the best option for this area. ?I will say, it is an open top bus so if you are coming along maybe bring an umbrella." The group is looking to fill the bus with supporters, who will make the journey to City Hall, where a petition will be handed over to London Assembly members Val Shawcross and Caroline Pidgeon. Afterwards a seminar will take place at City Hall to which members of the public are welcome, with the petition being handed over to the mayor the following day at his question time session. Val Shawcross, the assembly member for Lambeth and Southwark, said: "The local council and the community are doing a good job of keeping this project alive. It would be a big blow for the mayor's environmental credentials if he did walk away from this. To stop this now would be scandalous." Lib Dem assembly member Caroline Pidgeon added: "There is a cost to this project and maybe we might have to do it in phases. But there will be a huge cost to the public sector if it didn't go ahead in terms of what you would have to spend on the creaking tube system and buses. So much money has been spent on this, the mayor really needs to look at this to make sure he comes to the right decision." If you would like to take part in the demonstration turn up on the day or book a seat on the bus by contacting eqchair@googlemail.com. My word That photo is so accurate, even down to the Nylon Wigs they wear nowadays I love the bow tie on the second girl from the left Do you realise that they actually hollowed out those kids heads to put the 'special effects' lights into their eye sockets (there is a street in hollywood where you can still see them, begging with a sign "former Midwich Cuckoo stars money needed for replacement eye surgery"
-
okay - based in small town America where a group of babies are born all looking similar (blond hair, blue eyes) and as the film transpires you realise that they are in fact 'alien cuckoos' who have ousted the human child and are growing in their place... they are here to grow and take over the world and have telepathic powers which grow strogner as the film goes on (and as they grow up) One of the children acts slightly differently to the others by loving his parents, but is soon brought back into the fold by the other children... all of whom are super intellegent, fast learners and have no emotions apart from rage when someone tries to defy them... all typical 70's hokum ending with the children being killed by the townfolks (those who have survived the onslaught of the children to that point) in a fire at the end... Normally shows late at night and when I have been drinking so if the description is a little 'vague' then blame 'Miss Stella' I have the feeling that the concept was in fact inspired by the German's idea of growing a super race of humans by matching parents together and then taking their offspring and placing it with foster parents so that they grew into the ideal little nazi... (I loved the 70's films as they were slightly un PC in their plots especially when they have basis in real fact)

Ah no... not quite again... keep it in the 'fun' vein of the origional 70's film the Midwich Cuckoos rather then a rant and rave... :)) Not meant as a serious discussion rather something to while away the last friday before the bank holiday weekend
-
Okay a slight parody on teh 1970's film about Midwich but the sentiment is the same Am I the only one who is noticing that over the past few years we have seen increased numbers of people migrating to ED from ove the borders (Cla'ham and such like) with their nannies and small children who all look the same, act the same and for all I know are the same Is East Dulwich becoming the new target for these Cuckoos, taking over from the natives who live here with a plan to eventually 'gentrify' the whole of London and to cause as much havoc as possible in cafe's by running around screaming, fighting and throwing food everywhere (as for the children and what they get up to... that is a different story) Scary concept and now open for a bank holiday (fun) discussion (actually if the film 'the Midwich cuckoos' wasn't so 'naff' looking now, the idea behind it is quite scary... )

You could borrow an Air Rifle... what you do with it is entirely up to you... ::o Just make sure that no one is watching you when you do some 'target shooting'

A female friend of mine recently accused me of going deaf after I turned up at her house with a grandfather clock Aparently she claims that I had misheard her phone call to me requesting that I "bring my big clock over so that I could give her a good time" :-$ Women - I will never understand them ::o

not really, but as a result of installing them they do provide an extremely high level of security by default. One was bought before i needed WiFi, and rather then replace it with a combined WiFi Router and modem, I simply attached a wifi router to the set up which had a high level of security and amazing network conectivity behind the firewall.. a nice bit of kit, but the whole set up can be quite tricky to administer at times when you want to do something out of the norm like play games.. :-S Got to say, that with the Wii outside of the network, Iplayer ran like a dream on it last night... but was such a fast refresh rate that the Hairy Bakers guide from BBC2 made me feel a little queezy (seemed to jump more frames then displayed)

you are being totally paranoid, and I have now agreed to that court order you took out to stop me stalking you, going through your rubbish and pretendign to be you on discussion forums... but yes, one should always be careful on any discussion forum or website... one piece of information here, another there soon adds up to a complete picture of someone, their habits, their address, their email account and even details about their employer, where and when they work and worst of all when they go on holiday and their house is empty... Linking this forum to Facebook, Linked in, ecadamy and other social networking sites would allow someone to know more about an individual then that person thinks... all it takes is time and effort. The old concept of people going through your bins, whilst it still goes on, isn't necessary any more as people reveal far too much about themselves already online Hence why I never use my real name anywhere Yours Charles Windsor !!! PS have we all gone organic yet ?

He He If I may, then let me brighten up this post with a joke that Dazed and Confused has jsut reminded me off A young man has terrible flactulance and dreaded the first visit to his girlfriends parents house. She assured him that her parents were quite understanding about things like that and wouldn't say a word. He goes to meet the parents and upon arriving vows to hold in the wind no matter what. Over Dinner, the family dog came and sat down under his chair, and by this time his resolution to not break wind has weakened so he lets a sneaky one out "phhhrrrp", at which point the father looks up and then yells to the Dog "ROVER" Thinking he has gotten away with it, the young man relaxes a bit more and 10 minutes later lets out an even bigger one "PHHHRRRPP" The father looks up and again yells "ROVER" at the dog... The Young mans confidence is now fully up and during the main course he lets out a trouser trumpet so loud that the glassware on the table rattles The father looks up again and yells out "ROVER for god's sake, get out from under his chair before he shits on you!!"

Got to say I love the idea of a Pond on Goose Green for the Geese !! now how about we put a CGS bid in for that and also half a dozen geese or ducks Other then that, I would make all of the side roads off Barry Road and Lordship Lane blocked at one end (like the Gardens of Peckham Rye) to stop those bluming annoying rat runners using them as short cuts at 90+ miles an hour

What Kids have access to Sex and Alcohol too... damn I led a sheltered childhood... Nanny was always a bit touchy I have to say but.... No vomiting that I have heard about, and I have also heard of it as far as field as Wandsworth... (passport control let me visit last weekend and I may not have had all of the necessary jabs)

another culprit may well be Tannins in the wines, I have a couple of friends who suffer from Tannin reactions (one has a three day headache as a result of just one glass with heavy tannin contents) Check the tannin contents for the wines you tried and see if that is part of the cause. Solution is simple, only drink white... although saying that the Rye used to have a white on the board that got me absolutly s*itfaced after a bottle and a bit (Vue Minet I think it was called) fine up until the 'Bit' but first sip from that glass and whoa time to go home and lay down on the nearest cold surface (toilet floor) - Thank the stars they took it off the menu as it had a reputation for doing that to a lot of people ...

I changed the Static IP addrss to 196.158.2.150 (80 above any other device) and still no joy The Wii is constantly updateded with the latest releases (not that they see to make any difference to the console) and I am running a Trust router/modem with a SMC Barricade N wireless router (Damn fast wireless at 300mbps) still no joy as there are two router firewalls to go through at any one time (that is on top of the two firewalls running on all of the PC's as well - who says I am paroniod ... they can't touch me in here...) So I have now opened up the DMZ on the SMC and stuck the Wii's head out from behind it, whilst isolating it from the network... which of course means that I now have to work out how to make PimpStreamer work with an isolated terminal (pimpstreamer allows you to stream music, videos and other content to the wii so you can see it / hear it via the TV) I will try again on Tuesday, although I may ned to open up the DMZ on the trust if this doesn't work and then look at port forwarding... Funny thing is, it only fails when I try and enter a room, or let other people into my room.. if I do a European or Worldwide race, I have no problems connecting... Ho Hum Sean - I think the problem is that some routers are a little defensive of the ports the Wii wants to go through when setign up handshakes and if you have a firewall set to 'so paranoid even the fridge talks about it' then it may well need some tweeks... but for other games 'Mario Striker soccer' for example the access to the network is fine... seems to be Mario Kart thus far with the biggest problem so Tuesday at 8 for a re-try (and I will do some research between now and then to see what else I need as a back up)
-
I still had problems connecting to you all, for some reason.. I need to do some research as I go through two seperate fire walls to get out... (I'm not paronoid or nuffing.,.. but those who did race were talking about me behind my back) Will advise wehn I am ready to try again
-
Siduhe Would appreciate help at 8:30 Think if it is okay we can do a test by each of us creating a room (and then a quick race) to ensure that connections work for me as for the rainbow road... best tackled stone cold sober as it feels like a road trip from the 60's

I feel better today, although as I was due to go to a food production factory for the day, I decided that it was better to postpone that meeting and took the day off to rest Have also discoverd that Home made (thick) lentil and bacon soup seems to have helped (is a bizare way) as does staying away from yeast products for 24 hours (bread...) It seems to last between 5 and 7 days and when the bloating goes down (I was 12 months pregenant I fear) you actually will feel slightly lighter Hope everyone who has this feels better soon and no one else gets it as it is a (wait for the pun) Pain in the rear !!!
-
have reconfigured my wii to static IP and also reset aspects of my firewalls so that it should allow me through Will be looking for someone to assist in testing out the connection again this week if that is okay as for when is the next race, asuming everyone can connect (and if my changes work I will post a guide here) then how bout next Tueday evening (day after the bank holiday)
-
If you are gettign an 86240 error then it is possible that there is an issue with the firewall on your router... I am getting it and I need to see what I can do to join the race in progress
-
okay Interesting problem... I will close the room and try and let someone else create a room for the race If by half past that hasn't worked then I will re-open the room
-
I saw Sidhue about 10 mins ago but couldn't connect to her How is everyone doing with their connections ?
-
I have created a room, go to the WFC connection in mario Kart and click on friends, then click on Auntie Bob to join the room for the race Will wait till half past 8 to see who joins but if enough people join early enough then we can have a practie race
