  1. hi Just about to go through school visits and assessments for girls reception entry next year. We are looking at sydenham high and wondering if anyone has views on the school? We are also considering alleyns and jags but there seem to be very few places? Our son is at Dulwich prep and loves it so keen on schools near it. thanks
  2. I have been musing about the things I love about Dulwich throughout the seasons / year. I am struggling with the first part of the year, but here's what I have so far: June, July, August ? swimming in Brockwell Lido, the open air cinema September ? blackberry picking along College and Gallery Roads followed by jam-making! October ? crunchy walks in Dulwich Wood November ? Guy Fawkes fireworks at Brockwell Park December ? the Christmas fair at Dulwich College Any time - Checking out the latest exhibition at Dulwich Gallery - Shopping at the market on North Cross Road Can anyone add to this and help fill in the gaps? Wondering what new things I will discover...
  3. Thanks Barry! I recall the 7.29 train being a big culprit. Appreciate you looking into it.
  4. Hi, I left my husband's Garmin running watch in Dulwich Park on Sunday evening. I think I must have put it down on a bench or near the Pavilion. If anyone has picked it up, please let me know. Otherwise, that will have been an expensive run I did last night :-( Thanks.
  5. I have had to replace my paper ticket twice in the last week as the turnstiles stopped accepting them. Is there some fault in the tickets being issued or is this a gentle way to promote oyster cards?
  6. Can we please avoid a repeat of the ticket check before christmas in the pouring rain? Everybody was backed up on the ramp for five minutes getting soaked whilst the inspectors and the 6-8 police were nicely dry in the covered ticket area oblivious to the problems they were causing to the 99% of people who are paying customers!!!
  7. Yes, and I can highly recommend it! Having someone experienced there was great. She knew just where to put her hand on my back when I was having a contraction and she reassured me and husband all through the process. Then she came by the house for whatever hours I wanted for the 2-3 weeks after the birth and helped with feeding, bathing etc.. Send me a PM if you'd like more specific details.
  8. Just a reminder that the next Mums in Business event is tomorrow (Wednesday August 12th) at 8pm. The venue is All Fired Up. We are all going to try to bring some finger food and SE Magazine will also be present. It would be great to see some new members.
  9. Yep, great fun. Diddly-eidle-doh music, everyone in great form. It's a key fixture in the diary!
  10. Hi all, I've just been to my second meeting of this group. They meet once a month in East Dulwich. It's a really useful place for entrepreneurs to meet, get ideas, share skills and basically bounce ideas off each other. I thought it was a great forum and they are looking for more people to attend. Go to http://mothersinbusiness.co.uk/ for more details and to register for the next session. It's well worth going along.
  11. Had a great night as well! Brought three rugs and needed them all. Was lovely to be lying out under the stars. There was a lovely atmosphere there and some people really do take their picnicking seriously! More of the same please!
  12. I'm going on the 15th. Don't forget your Malaria tablets! Just picked up 112 of the buggers today. What a pain...
  13. How does this weekend sound? Agree that this is the best bar in ED. They used to do Lone Star beer, which I was very fond of. Don't mess with Texas...
  14. Retrieves enormous Humgarian goose from bottom of duvet. There, you should be more comfortable now...
  15. Just a little. Here, hold still... *Dabs* There, you're perfect again.
  16. There there, it'll all be fine... Don't you worry... Who's the glamourestest Mummy in Dulwich?
  17. Make that two! And can I have your other shoulder?
  18. Phew! Glad the QR is safe and well. It needs to be published!
  19. I tried to post on the Quiet Room and THIS happened. I'm sorry!!! Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 8192 bytes) in /home/sites/eastdulwichforum.co.uk/public_html/forum/include/db/mysql.php on line 680
  20. What were you checking Sean?
  21. I was thinking just the same thing! I get the 7.29 and regularly don't get a seat. Also I often get quite a late train back (19.49, 20.19, 20.49) and they are often busy too! Obviously, that says as much about my sad existence as it does about the trains though...
  22. *Pads into quiet room wearing snuggly jumper, leggings and cashmere socks. Opens a bottle of ice-cold Cava. Pours. Curls up on chaise longue. Ahhh. Looks around. Waves magic wand and QR is bedecked in green and gold decorations and a big tree with presents under for all QR residents.*
