Anti social behaviour (a man urinating)
cella replied to cella's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I am satisfied with the police support Loz so don't think so really. Again, it's interesting that you appear to be defending men who display such behaviour in public. -

Its in the hands of the police now who were helpful and supportive. They are keen to do what they can to reduce this type of unnecessary nuisance behaviour and there is a good chance they can identify him so perhaps a shot across the boughs will do the trick. On a lighter note here's what happens in Mumbai: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/india-water-cannon-video-men-3512353 -
Anti social behaviour (a man urinating)

You are entitled to your opinion but hopefully, as with any other public order offence, it will assist the police who may be able to identify and caution him. That may be enough to encourage him to think about changing his behaviour and his attitude towards women. -

Yes he really did I'm afraid. Not sure I agree with either slapping as a solution or treating his behaviour with either wry amusement or tolerating it due to him being shitfaced - he did not appear to be drunk - just loutish and arrogant. If he is prepared to do it in public and expose himself then jeer at women then he is definitely suspect in my book. -

You seem to adopt an argumentative attitude Louisa. We are not living in the 14th century and now have indoor plumbing and everything. We have also eradicated major disease and have a decent standard of public hygiene so would hate to see a return to any of that. You seem to be ignoring the fact that it was on a public green next to where children may be playing the next day and as you say he could have used other facilities but he didn't also his loutish behaviour towards me. It's concerning that you appear to support such anti social behaviour. -

Louisa your strong defence of this person is a bit startling. I don't think it was a case of a medical condition or that he was drunk, rather he was urinating in a public place and not down an alley somewhere. He didn't apologise or display any shame or embarrassment for his actions in a place where many people pass regularly and just laughed at me. Perhaps if it was your own front was then you may have reacted differently. If you really do think that I was in the wrong and should have waited until he finished and then try to counsel him in a diplomatic fashion then I find that attitude astonishing. I prefer to believe that we have evolved somewhat and that there is no excuse for this sort of unsocial behaviour. -

Well it was more about the public place he had chosen and he obviously didn't care about who might be passing by. It also seems very disrespectful to the local artist. There also seems to be an increase in men urinating in the street when there are many other places they could ask to use - it's what women have to do after all - so it's very lazy too. -
Came home tonight just before 8.30pm and saw a man urinating up against the mural behind Hinkley Road. He saw me walking by on the path and I shouted at him and waved my phone to show I had taken a picture of him and his highly anti social behaviour. His reaction was to laugh, wave his privates at me and then he just walked off. He was well dressed in a suit and tie and it wasn't yet dark so he obviously didn't care who witnessed this. Outrageous.

Was there a response on this? They were doing the work today so a bit academic now?

I have the same problem but find that using moth balls have reduced the problem by about 80%. Cheap & effective (cats cant stand the smell apparently) - available from hardware stores for just over ?1 a bag. Hope this helps.

never-ending shenanigans at dulwich baths
cella replied to Lee Scoresby's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Actually, having said previously on this site that I had yet to have a bad experience in the gym, I did so yesterday. People seemed to be hogging the treadmills and when I did a rough check on how long each person had been on the machines, most had been on for a minimum of 20 minutes. I approached a woman who had been on the longest and gestured to her to see how long she would be and got a hostile response. I appreciate that when I went it was not peak time but even so when I spoke to reception afterwards they just shrugged their shoulders and said there was nothing they could do - I suggested having stickers on each machine saying that there is a 20 minute maximum usage time (which surely is enough for anyone?) but they said they couldn't do that. Oh well. -
my garden seems to be attracting local cats, what can I do to keep them away
cella replied to shazza76's topic in The Lounge
Have mentioned before on the site that I've found that mothballs work for me around 90% of the time - the cats don't like the smell. Cheap to buy from one of the hardware shops on LL and you just need to replace every so often as they gradually dissolve in the rain etc. -

I have to say that the newly refurbished gym has been a great success in my view. On time and on budget and the building looks great - better than some other gyms in the area. The prices have been reduced to compensate while the building works have progressed too. As long as you book classes in advance I have been able to get to the ones I want - suspect that the overcrowding is due to people turning up on the day without booking and it would be helpful if Fusion could introduce a system to stop this. I go at different times to the gym and have always been able to use the equipment without waiting. The only problem at the moment is the very high temperatures generally in the building - using the studios for classes is comparable to being in a sauna! If they can resolve this then I think the facilities are great - dont use the pool though so cant comment on that. -
Just to say I got a supply of mothballs from Farmers this morning so all is well for the forseeable future! Very helpful staff in there and they have an eclectic supply of all manner of things!

Many thanks all for all the helpful answers. Yes they do assist in putting off the local cats - just scatter a few with space in between and replace every few weeks - they start dissolving if there is rain but you just simply replace. Cheapest and most effective solution I've found for my garden.

Does anyone know where I can get some mothballs? I used to buy them in the hardware shop in Lordship Lane but they informed me yesterday that they are not being made any more. Or does anyone have a stash that I can buy from them? I find they are very effective in the garden to deter cats as they cant stand the smell! Many thanks for any leads.

Hurrah! Totally agree - thanks James and will support you on anything you can do to stop all the businesses parking on pavements - not just the pizza place!
