On Keston too

On balance think Paxman adopted the same hectoring tone with TM and to me it just reinforced how autocratic her manner is. She looks visibly shaken when confronted with things like changing her mind on important policy announcements and her querulous voice doesn't help. No one pressed her on unnecessarily revisiting fox hunting and the ?350m to the NHS was given a very gentle ride I felt. Think the show wrongly billed Paxman as one of the stars and he feels he has to live up to his (outdated) image. For me, Corbyn came out of it the winner.

Jeremy Corbyn is doing an excellent job so far but Paxman is totally over the top and bordering on the offensive. Twill be interesting to see if he adopts the same tone when interviewing Teresa May. Think Paxman has passed his sell by date.

Anyway, the opposing views on cycling on pavements have been running and running. I am very against adults riding on pavements and this just reinforces it but my main concern was that he hurtled into me, heard me cry out but still rode off so it's the uncaring & inhumane behaviour I was really highlighting. I hope he lost sleep over it by not stopping to see what damage he'd caused but possibly not.

While walking along East Dulwich Road at lunchtime today a burly cyclist cannoned into my back while cycling on the pavement. He clearly wasn't looking where he was going and despite my loud scream he just cycled off into Adys Road. I was on my own and was left tearful and shaking but if it had been an older person it could have been a different story. Hateful, inconsiderate people.

It's depressing but totally agree with this.

A tiny thing but irritating when I was looking earlier. The new Barnard Marcus estate agents in Rye Lane just have "London" under each of the property pics - so no immediate clue as to where exactly these properties are. Grr.

Just saw this. Funnily enough, went to the 3 store this morning and they were able to transfer my contacts but not the texts so will prob have to write those off.

I need to transfer my contacts and existing text messages from my (very) old Samsung mobile to a new LGK3 phone. I've looked on You Tube for a tutorial but my techie understanding is so basic that when they say "copy your contacts to the Sim" I have no idea how to do that. Can anyone help with some really basic advice on how to do this? Thanks!

484 bus - unacceptable lost property handling

The ones round the doors are often the passengers who haven't tapped their oysters and may need to exit in a hurry if inspectors get on. -
Sorry, who do you mean?

Totally agree. I limit my trips to the Post Office to twice a year. They perform a really useful role and business in the community but, although receiving a long overdue makeover this year, they still haven't stepped up to the mark. A smaller space with no apparent thought to the logistics of squeezing in Amazon and parcel deliveries, retail at low level so waiting kids are chucking it around in the floor and queuing customers (it took 45 minutes at Christmas) with demoralised staff seemingly superglued to their stools. A miserable experience all round and yet with such potential if properly managed. More of this is waiting to happen sadly. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4105062/Post-Office-close-franchise-37-Crown-offices-loss-300-staff-cut-127-financial-specialist-roles.html

It is such a shame that they are prepared to risk everything they've worked towards by being cynical about proper customer support. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4098880/The-end-rise-Aldi-Lidl-Discount-supermarkets-suffer-poor-Christmas-trading-shops-look-like-ve-robbed-load-schoolkids.html -
Isn't this on the wrong thread?

They do good business and good luck to them but they can't be cynical towards customers they want to court and keep. -

If they can't do the business basics like stock rotation, not having rotting food on shelves (unacceptable on any level) etc then may be they should market themselves as something different. It flies in the face of attracting a wider clientele who will expect some sort of customer support. If they get too arrogant then the very people they have worked to attract will desert them. -

Have posted before with examples e.g. Goods marked at different prices round the store, trying to actually find a responsible staff member to deal with issues, picking up customer credit cards and inserting them into the machine while you are packing, rotting fruit & veg (I pointed it out to a disinterested staff member and when I went round again later it was stil there) etc etc When I reported another bigger issue to head office they never bothered replying despite chasing. So, they should keep doing what they do well, but, to keep their wider market share they must stop being so cynical and provide a higher level of customer support. BTW not sure what is meant by shoppers looking like they need to shop there? -

Can't agree. Good customer service is a basic requirement for any business and their brilliant marketing prides itself on the really mixed customer base it attracts. The wall outside the shop details the ways customers can make their views known but it's here where they let themselves down. They are not interested at all in my experience so it's the gap between what they promise and what they actually deliver. -
Noticed the soon to be open second new estate agents on corner of Choumert Road/Rye Lane this morning. Times have indeed changed.

LIDL are great in theory and have brilliant offers. However, as I've raised before their customer service is lamentable. This morning in the Peckham branch customers were forced to use the self service tills as they refused to open the others. As I was in a hurry I complied after complaining but the last time they did this I had a lot more time and said I would only use an assisted till and they opened one, much to the appreciation of other customers. -

I quickly do my own packing and then pay. Particularly in LIDL this should be better reinforced I feel. -
Each Thursday over the past three weeks I've had the misfortune to pass through Rye Lane during the morning around 9.30am. The traffic crawled to a standstill and the various buses I was on couldn't move - for 28 minutes in one case. This was due to the large vans and lorries making deliveries to shops along the Lane and the buses were forced to negotiate a very limited space. The bus I was on entered into a standoff with oncoming traffic where no one was prepared to move so we just sat there for 20 minutes. I realise deliveries have to be made but there has to be a better way. I won't be doing that again. Can any of the local Councillors advise on this?
