  1. Sounds like your priority is the shops whereas mine is pedestrians! I'm more focussed, as mentioned, on getting rid of extraneous stuff - unnecessary street furniture, cars parked on pavements, cyclists, skateboarders, speedier roadworks etc. You seem to be on the anti yummy mummies/large buggies/Southwark side of things whereas I would just like to see more considerate behaviour from all users.
  2. Think that's where I personally started! The pavements are too narrow for the increased useage. It's down to Southwark to decide how much pavement is "owned" by businesses but either way they need to look at all the extraneous blockages that are there, including the things we've both mentioned, and do something about it. Otherwise customers won't be battling their way, particularly during busy times, to any of the shops etc - I know I only do evening stuff! Pedestrians first!
  3. You appear to be prioritising the shops over people. We clearly need businesses to thrive but when it comes to being able to negotiate their way through pedestrians need proper access. Not sure what you are suggesting above to assist with this though you acknowledge it's difficult for people - you want customers to be able to get to your business surely!
  4. I think the point being made is that pedestrians need space on the pavements to walk freely and safely. Anything that impedes this needs to be looked at carefully.
  5. Not sure that's entirely right. The pavements are for people walking with everyone else on the actual road and it's not clear how life is to be improved for pedestrians with other users and shopkeepers asserting their rights.
  6. There was a thread on here a while back which challenged that assumption and, from memory, Southwark were trying to get shopkeepers to scale back their encroachment.
  7. The pavements in ED are way too narrow already with the changes and increases to the demographic. Cyclists, runners, parked cars all use pavements freely and shops, cafes etc encroach further on the already limited space for actual pedestrians. People standing chatting and blocking the space, sometimes with massive buggies, doesn't help and the unnecessary street furniture is really annoying too. Pavements are for pedestrians I feel.
  8. I don't go very often (pleased to say) but haven't found it too difficult to get an appointment. I also now use the GP app so just book through that initially.

Think Corbyn just wanted to know that some sort of formal process had been gone though with evidence before committing to the serious stuff. Remember WMD?
  10. Terrible appointment. He has no filter apparently and has said some ill judged things. Looks like a petulant child. Very worrying if he's being pitched as a possible leader.
  11. Apart from the coughers yes I usually do to mixed response. Sometimes it's just general unawareness, particularly if they are not regular theatre goers and are unused to the "etiquette". But it gets very wearing when we just want to enjoy the event.
  12. I'm an avid cinema and theatre goer and the lack of focus by audience members can be so horrendous - phones, eating, rustling, jittering about and leaning forward in seats, bangles jangling, explaining what's going on in stage whispers etc etc One of the worst things is older people theatrically coughing incessantly - why is that? Hasnt yet got to the stage where I won't go but at times I'm glad we have gun laws in this country.
  13. I noticed this morning that a number of new build flats above Aneto are now advertised. Was there a planning application posted for these or did I miss?
  14. Just to say that quite often the early morning classes start late and the time isn't made up at the end. The Wed yoga class this week, for example, started 15 minutes late which meant a 45 minute class rather than an hour. If they are being monitored then something isnt working. ames Barber Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hi Guys, > This is the latest update I should have posted > earlier this week explaining how things have been > improved - any problems please EMAIL as I'll see > it much quicker to act: > > " > Dear Councillor Barber > > > > > Thank you for your enquiry, in which you requested > information regarding the following: > > As response to the following customer comments: > > > " > > I can now provide you with a full response to your > enquiry. > > I have contacted the centre manager from Everyone > Active regarding the comments outlined in your > email on the 1st February 2018 from customers. 15. You would - seriously?

  17. So Aneto moving into the FP space which presumably means something else in their vacated place?
  18. Aware of the renovation work but just thought they were refurbishing. Has the FP gone then? Didn't see anything from them saying they were closing.

This happens frequently, usually with the early morning classes. When I commented on this with one particular teacher she got annoyed and said the clock in the room was always wrong! We didn't get the extra time at the end though.
  20. She's no better than she ought to be - never got that one growing up - and why was it always a woman.
  21. Dancing your way round South London/Turkey/Greece and yet scared to venture to The Gowlett after dark on your own - truly an impressive ambassador for this run down area.
  22. DF - you need to get out more in your local community. From your posts it appears that you only move around in a tiny bubble in the area i.e. Lordship Lane. Also your comments about other parts of the area seem designed to offend - why bother? You just come across as an angry misanthrope, frightened by any change or challenge to your, some might say, narrow view of the world.
  23. Do you mean the street is run down or the pub?! When you say you never venture down that way after dark on your own what on earth do you mean? We live there and it's great! What a strange thing to say.
  24. My experience was great but do think that it's down to the relationship with your builder. S/he does all the work - communicating, purchasing etc direct with Howdens and this allows them to negotiate their own prices for materials. Our brilliant builder gave us a quote for the total job which we were happy with and then did everything else. This suited us and it was possible for items to be returned if the wrong size or a different handle was required. There's a branch in ED Road.
  25. This seems to happen a lot in my experience, particularly on the streets around ED & Peckham. The already too narrow streets can be blocked by groups of people, sometimes with buggies, chatting or on the path on Goose Green either with dogs/buggies. It's only a problem when nobody moves when others are trying to negotiate the streets/paths and sometimes this can come across as giving off an air of entitlement.
