  2. Have you tried John the butcher in the van on Northcross rd on Saturdays, I'm not sure what the deal is with christmas orders but I personally prefer his meat (even though he doesn't have as wide a selection) and he's certainly a lot more friendly that a few of the guys at William Rose. Another place to try is Moens and sons in clapham I always used to get my meat from there v friendly bunch of guys and good range.
  3. Thanks everyone for spoiling the plots of so many films anyway how about Kes? when his brother does what he does. I can't believe that nobody has mentioned 'It's a wonderful life' I was once with my then girlfriend watching it at the Ritzy in Brixton and the film broke down in the last 5 minutes, I think everyone there had seen it before and all refused to leave for around half an hour whilst they tried to fix it, in the end we had trudge out and get a refund.
  4. I kept getting the Viagra ones too, wouldn't mind so much but it was my girlfriend who was sending them:'(
  5. I get the Nationwide ones all the time plus Halifax and Natwest I think once your email address is out there it's pretty much impossible to stop them. I've never found a spam filter that's effective enough to block them with out losing legitimate emails too. One thing I do now is use 2 email addresses, one for friends/business the other for online shopping etc this has pretty much eliminated spam to the main email address and I just change the second one when gets on any lists. If you want I can get you off the bank spamming lists, just send me your date of birth, account no' sort code and I'll sort it out;-)
  6. My thoughts exactly Sean, but surely Horse has no connections with the Plough? Rather than jumping on new posters who may quite honestly be praising a business on their first post and have no connection to anyone working there and they may really be 'very generous with their roast potatoes, I almost couldn't eat the lovely bluebarry cheesecake all washed down with a reasonable Merlot and a cheery wave from the barman' Maybe we should introduce a forum codeword for suspicious posts. I suggest 'There's a roach in the pool' Only works if you are a fan of The Day Today though

  8. I went into the Vale on Wednesday as they seemed to be the only place in ED showing the Liverpool game (shame on you Magdela no wonder you were so quiet) (doublke shame on you Liverpool for playing so badly). The staff were very friendly, sofas were very comfy (think I fell asleep briefly for part of second half (shame on you Sissoko)). Menu looked pretty good and very reasonable. may become my pub of choice for the footy now.

  12. I go to the Magdala, though their projector could do with upgrading to a brighter one or they should sort the lighting/blinds out in there. Always a pretty good crowd in there, and we (Liverpool) always seem to do well when I watch them in there, unless we are playing Chelsea then I have to endure the walk of shame to 'Baad Lark Warnger' from the piggy eyed mockney lifetime fan since 2004 food chain bottoming knuckle scrapers.
  13. Go and play up your own end

  15. I bought some of their coffee from the Chinese grocery in Peckham last week, very nice it is too, has a hint of chocolate to it, possibly the chicory?
  16. Tried take away from Gold Lee this week after the good remarks on this thread, have to say it was a bit hit and miss Pork in yellow bean sauce was good Chicken Curry was pretty poor seemed like packet curry sauce from the chippy (never really go for chicken curry at chinese restaurants so can't compare) Noodles with mixed veg had no flavour at all, veg seemed a bit 'gloopy' which always hints at MSG overload to me. And why can't any Chinese do proper starters rather than the same old frozen stuff they all churn out, same as desserts in indian places (not another coconut ice cream in a half shell please) Maybe I just chose badly but I think I'l be trying Lamoon next time It suprises me that nobody has opened a wagamama style noodle bar round here, some relaxed, quick served Ramen, Sushi etc would be most welcome (or am I 5 years out of date here?)
  17. Popped in this weekend and to be honest for some reason was expecting the Athenaesque stuff from the place next to Iceland but they had some really interesting work in there. lots in the ?60 - ?300 price bracket and when I spoke to the girls they say they change the pieces regularly. I hope the location doesn't let them down, bit too far from the main drag for people to know about it, hopefully word of mouth and this forum will help, maybe they should put a few items on one of the stalls in the market at the weekend? Anyway enough of my business advice, great addition to the area I hope they do well - go visit
  18. not bad - breakfast and tambourine for ?35 a night
  19. Five points to Huguenot and a free sealskin canvas of you choice really sorry to hear about your damage hope your insurance covers it all, run my own small business (with an eye on world domiation of course) and I know how these things can set you back. I'll certainly be popping in when I'm back off holiday
  20. I'm not sure I agree with a multi national seal clubbing franchise, passing itself off as a small independent art gallery completely fabricating tales of bad weather and flooding in order to justify a blatant advertising on this forum
  21. How much longer do you think we'll be calling them video shops? doesn't make much sense now they don't rent videos. What a lovely all emcompassing word video is/was "I'm just going to put a video in the video because I want to video some videos on MTV"
