  4. To be fair Foxy, there's a lot of places on LL flogging decent stuff food wise but it's mainly on the mid-upper scale price wise i think we are pretty lucky with range, if only we had a decent asian supermarket like the one in Peckham i'd be happy. Non-food wise i never shop in LL
  5. I'd second Spiral, probably one of the best TV series ever. for comedy try Always sunny in Philadelphia, the US version of the office (both of these don't really get going to until series 2) and Community. a lot of people have recommended Sons of anarchy though i haven't had chance to watch it yet.
  6. it isn't turkish coffee they are selling there, it's just an automated coffee machine selling latte, americano etc. we tried it and it wasn't that great to be honest even by machine standards it was very weak. on the plus side this is the first time i've been in this shop in a long time, i really liked the previous owners and they always had good quality and interesting bits in there, but the new people seem to have ramped it all up a notch, theres a great selection of pastry/turkish bread type things in there and a lot of nice fruit and veg.
  7. So i'm the wrong side of 40 and pretty unfit, i have no interest in gyms or running but i do like football. I'm in no shape to play a match right now but would like to be I was wondering if anyone was in the same position and fancied meeting up and doing a bit of training, and if anyone on the forum is maybe a coach who could run something like this if everyone chipped in?
  8. the problem with all of these providers is the contention ratio from the local exchange, they will have a fast fibre connection into the exchange and then this is shared between however many subscribers they have in that location. so the more people who are downloading at one time the slower it gets. I think Virgin are the only supplier that don't piggy back off BTs fibre, I've found with a few of my clients that if they get a business broadband package rather than domestic, then the speed if tipped in the business connections favour, it only usual costs a few pounds a month more and you tend to get better technical support too, with BT you don't need a business to get a business package
  9. I'm assuming this is the rear entrance?

  15. The Sonos Play models which are a single speaker with the wireless receiver built in, you can use one of these as a mono zone. you can add a second unit and group both together at set them as a stereo pair. The other units in the range allow external speakers to be added either via the sonos internal amp or if you use the connect unit you can plug into surround sound or stereo amp. there is also the play bar which is designed to go under a TV additional speakers can be added to allow 5.1 surround I supply a lot of these units, not a big fan of the in built speaker units but are fine for minor rooms if quality isn't a real factor. great bits of kit very user friendly.

  19. We had real problems in our last flat a few things we did to reduce it were opening kitchen window even slightly when cooking helped a lot as the steam was drawn through to the cold outside. same with bathroom window when showering. bought a condenser tumble dryer. a dehumidifier helped a lot, it's worth reading article below about how they can actually save on your heating bills http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=638349

  21. The resolution on the TiVo box may be set too low, there should be somewhere in the setup menu a way to change this. If tv I'd hd ready set it to 720p if it's full HD then 1080p there also maybe a setting for auto which will pick up your tvs highest resolution. If you leave the tv on and pull out the hdmi when the TiVo box is on, when you plug the hdmi back in most tvs flash up the resolution in the corner momentarily
  22. one other option does the VCR have aerial input and output? you could possibly connect an aerial cable from the aerial out to the TV (assuming it has a tuner) then retune the TV whilst a video is playing the VCR will then come up as a channel on the TV
  23. could be a couple of things dirty heads - use head cleaning tape adjust tracking on the VCR on the input settings of the TV there may be an option to change from RGB to PAL swap these around
