  1. In my limited experience, a nanny w/ their own child generally charges around 8-10ph If I had a nanny for my two, own child or not, I'd be inclined to pay him/her a small fortune for looking after my double act though!
  2. do you mean a nanny who would look after your child whilst she also has her own child with her, or simply how much would you pay a nanny to look after your child?
  3. Baby 1, a boy, born 8lb6oz; weaned him onto purees at 4mo (erroneously). I was desperate to get some decent sleep out of him and thought it would solve our problems. Was dead wrong. Gave up on purees around 7mo, and went the BLW route. Baby 2, a girl, 9lb14oz; weaned her using a BLW/get what you can from your brother style at 6mo. SO much easier not having to worry about food for that bit longer, especially when out and about.busy with my mad toddler. My HV also advised purees from 17w for both babies, especially my girl as she is a big girl (30lb at 10mo!!!! No, I am not kidding!) which was bollocks, because if she skips food for the day and just had The Boob, she's as satisfied as if she has eaten a 12 course banquet.
  4. And, screw it, I'm just going to say it. Sorry if this offends anyone, truely. A child with autism = not the worst thing in the world. A child dying of a disease that was preventable = possibly the worst thing I can imagine. Fin.
  5. single vaccines is meant to be a lot more painful and damaging, actually. The way I see it: Autism linked > disproved. Measles/Mumps/Rubella can all kill a child. Therefore it's a no brainer. I am extremely nervous about giving my son his second dose and my daughter's first dose in a few months, because my son had an extreme reaction to the first one, but I am girding my loins and doing it anyway. Just my opinion Anecdotally, all of my siblings and I bar my youngest brother were vaccinated. I had the MMR a few times, because of parental idiocy. My brother, the one who wasn't vaccinated, is autistic. So there...?
  6. In my unprofessional opinion: The MMR/ Autism link is utter, utter bollocks. Hope this helps.
  7. Thanks all. He fell asleep on a beanbag, biscuit in hand, at about 1, then woke up five minutes later when his sister had a meltdown when she got cheese in her hair and eye (it's all going on here...). He is clearly exhausted, but no doubt will be up till late shouting for "more milk, warm trousers, pink socks" and other nonsense. Really hope that the heatwave easing off makes for easier bedtimes.
  8. Good morning lovely forum! Seb is 2y5mo old and a few weeks ago, started staying awake, and being happy with this, when he'd normally nap. 'Ah' I thought, 'done with naps, are we?'. However, he is totally knackered in the day. If he sleeps at all, no matter how early, and even for as little as 15 mins, he will be up till 10/11/12(!!!) at night. Clearly this is no good. Things that have not worked: Putting him down super early, say 10:30, for a mid am nap. Waking him up after an hour. 'quiet time' - he falls asleep. Bribery. Crying (me, not him) What do I doooooooooo? HELP!
  9. Hi Strawbs, We flew internationally ih october and at LHR i didn't have to take lex, then 3mo, out of tge maclaren but on.tge return journey (coming through JFK) I did have to take her out of the ergo. Everyone was very helpful though as they thought I was travellihg alone; my husband had stormed off ahead w/ toddler(!) Typos courtesy.of.ipad.
  10. Yes. Me and Lex both get hayfever, and we both take antihestimines. Hers is pretty awful, hence the drugs. Lovely drugs. A spoonful of locally sourced honey helps build up a tolerance to pollen.
  11. One of my sisters was 5 when she finally got it! She was very verbal and would say to my Mum before she left to take her to school "By the way, I've done a poo, so you'll need to change my clothes I'm afraid". Mum was at her wits end, and it was our Nanny who got the results in the end.
  12. :) We have a Triumph and Quest; and although lightweight, aren't that great to handle I'm afraid. The new Quinny Zap reclines btw.
  13. Do it, do it, do it! I love them, and posted my second baby's birth story on my blog a few months ago.
  14. I have only ever recieved excellent care from Kings; whether in A&E for myself, or my children. My husband was injured last year and was taken to A&E and then treated as an outpatient in the Oral-Maxillofacial dept, and I have had two babies by c/s at Kings. Each and every time, I have extremely impressed, and grateful, for the level of care we have all recieved. I feel lucky to have such an excellent hospital on my doorstep. Thankyou, Kings and all your staff!
  15. Saffron; don't MENTION Sudocreme! The horror, the horror! We use metanium everyday as well. I was told inhalation of talc was bad for baby's lungs. Me and Toddled are asthamtic, never used it. Someone gave some to us when Lex was born. She tried to eat it recently. Fab.
  16. Mine was the same until Lex arrived but now I think he actually does more than me, especially at weekends! During the week: He makes breakfast for us all and we eat together before he leaves for work, does the washing up and tidying from breakfast. I get the children (I know you know how old they are, but for everyone else, S is 2y5mo and L is 9mo) dressed. After he leaves for work, I'll start prep for whatever lunch will be and attempt to stop the babiea from fighting. Around 9:15, Lex has a nap, and when she wakes up we will go out to the park/friends/playgroup, back for lunch and Nap (1-3, usually). Afternoon, we tidy and play, then I will make dinnee, which will be thrown on the floor. Tidy up from dinner, tidy toys, bathtime. Then bedtime. Nick comes home around 6:30 in the middle of bathtime and will do a few bits about the house, then make dinner. Nick has OCD and hates the way I do cleaning. So he does it all (bar when he'a not here and I need to hoover a bit or stuff like that). He does all the laundry, I put it away. We food plan together, he does the weekly shop and pays for it. At the weekend, he takes over with the babies and does all mealtimes, and bathtime. I generally organise what we do at the weekends, I think. he is the sole breadwinner, my contract wasn't renewed in June 2011, a few weeks before I went on mat. leave. So, I am a SAHM for now... d
  17. Are you breastfeeding? I had this for a bit and it turned out to be the earlyish onsent of mastisis. Fun!
  18. thanks for all your helpful suggestions :) The stain is better than this morning, but still there. It turns out our toddler was egging her on "I told Lex to mess! Look, lex mess cream!". This is why we can't have nice things. *rocks back and forth in a darkened room*
  19. The baby got her hands on a huge tub of the stuff and smeared it all over herself and the bedroom carpet. I've tried hot water with lemon to try to break down the grease but it's not had much of an effect. any tips? We have a vax carpet shampoo ting, but would like to avoid using it as the shampoo we use for it seems to make me and Baby Lex a bit itchy and wheezy...
  20. FGS, I really wish the world's media would realise they're flogging a dead horse when it comes to breastfeeding SHOCK stories. Saw some of the Daily Mail comments about it on their website; topnotch as per.
  21. Bea, love your sessions as you know :) Also love Locale, Me and Mr B had our wedding reception there. Hope to see you at one soon, we've seemed to have dropped off the ED baby circuit due to illness/house remodelling/general woe. Rx
  22. Maybe my two year old read this thread, but last night he asked for us to take his amber necklace off, after wearing it 24/7 for the past 9months. Hmm... the forum strikes again!
  23. Ergo, every time. I carry my 9mo old in it, front or back and Mr B has carried our 2.4y/o in it (backcarry) too...
  24. Nabz, if your not even one year old escapes from nursery and walks home, then alert the media because the ??? from selling your story would pay for a team of nannies. Problem solved.
  25. ?300?!? It was about ?90 when I went when I was 17 (10 years ago)
