  1. Where is good to go for a nice drive and then a nice stroll once you get there? It'll be me doing the driving, and can't drive on motorways, just A roads, as I am challenged in the whole having a license malarky (I am taking my seventh and last crack at my practical test in April). Nowhere too far, like Carlile or Hull or newquay, please. Thanks!
  2. The countdown to bedtime begins(only 4 hours to go...)..godspeed my friends!
  3. Personally, if buggy sleep isn't a problem for you atm, I say leave it as it is. Don't worry about nursery, because it seems that babies often nap differently at nursery to home anyway! He may like the buggy for naps because he feels cosy and enclosed, is there anything you could do to replIcate this in his cot if needs be?
  4. Best advice I ever got re: weight gain... Watch the baby, not the scales. Is he happy, alert, meeting milestones and having at least 6 wet nappies a day? If so, don't stress and continue to breastfeed as you are already.
  5. Since being married, I have had to give up on my all time favourite pastime of Grudge Holding. Most upsetting, but it doesn't really help anyone, seething and grudge holding against your OH. The only thing that has kept me and Whasshisname afloat is total and complete honesty, about everything: finances, mental health, everything.
  6. Snigger. Have the former. Would post a photo of the kitchen, but I'm ignoring the mess. Baby doesn't like cheese. And avocadoes.am in mourning.
  7. I've just started to introduce Lady Lex (6m) to solids. I did purees with Seb, really cannot be arsed this time round. Lex is very interested in food, and has sat with us all for mealtimes for ages. She tries to nab her brother's food, and he likes to share. Aw. Anyway. Very often, she will drop food onto the floor/her lap. Is the idea to continue to offer food as a replacement for the dropped stuff? She isn't chucking food around because she'a finished/bored, its mainly because she hasn't got a brilliant pincer grip yet. Bless her. She can hold things in her fist quite well though. I digress. I know it will be a while before she is really 'eating', and thats fine- she's got to 24lb on breastmilk alone, so I don't think she's lacking in anything, and I am determined to be more Laid back about solids this time round, too. Any other top BLW tips gratefully recieved! Thanks, forum!
  8. Correction, Otta, a nice meal and a BEER.
  9. The Plough, perhaps? Loads of room, about 5 stops from E Dulwich Stn on the 176/185/40.
  10. By their first name. That includes me and his Dad. "Ruuuuuth! I poo! Get Nick!". Big sigh.
  11. My husband retweeted something about this, then came home from work and ribbed me endlessly about my bordering-on-obsession about going to cEnter parcs. I will never mention it again now...
  12. Was this Bookstart, sophie??? We get this a lot, seb doesn't ever sit down. Ever. I agree with everythin you said 110%
  13. Seconding All Saints- lex has been going (with seb...) since she was 6wks, and loves it.
  14. Anyone? Or does anyone have any experiences with the NCSS they could tell me about? Lex is 6m. I cannot take the sleep deprivation anymore. Help!
  15. -snacks. Preferably chocolate based. -LoveFilm subscription for all the time your friend will spend sitting on the sofa/bed bf her baby. -swaddling blanket
  16. Lightweight/easy to fold - bugaboo bee or baby jogger city mini Big wheels/ longevity into toddlerhood - mountain buggy, perhaps? jane slalom pro? I have never been able to find a buggy that suits all my needs and since my son was born, i have been through 8 buggies. EIGHT!
  17. Kindergarten definitely exists over here! Myself and all 4 of my siblings went to one in Finchley. NO idea about the difference. Mine was attached to our synagogue, though.
  18. Seconding london transport museum! Took Seb for his second birthday. He loved it! We went to wagamamas afterwards, too. V good.
  19. Seb just cannot do anything structured, and has a penchant for massive tantrums anyway. It used to stress me out until i realised "erm, he's TWO", and relaxed. I don't take him to anything structered, and the only groups we go to that have song time, are the ones that are relaxed about him dancing about and not sitting nicely. (hence why i lurve the all saints playgroup). You are not alone with an "unruly" toddler; if people stare, its probably because they know exactly how it feels!!!
  20. Yip- lex's first tooth erupted at 4mo, a friend's son got his first tooth at 3m3w!
  21. They were able to drop in and had a fab time, apparently. Mr B took Seb on his own, and i stayed at home and slept. It was awesome. Theyre going again next week, yippee!
  22. Belle, you may rememeber my distressed and insane facebook ranting about this...Lex did this for six week starting when she was 13w on the dot. It was a wonder week / teething thing. Liberal use of calgel on her gums and dummy worked, as did her teething necklace when it arrived. It finally passed when she was 4.5mo, but if i had used calgel etc first, we could have saved ourselves a lot of lost sleep. White noise machine also helped, as did weeping and frantic googling...
  23. We have the same problem; except Harris is out for us down to my own personal reasoning. We're Jewish, so don't want to send them to a c of e/catholic school, and we are too far from charter/kingsdale (in se5).
  24. We struggled with names we could agree on. In the end we went with Alexa Ruby; Ruby being my 'name' (have never been called Ruth by my family in my life! Was a ruby all through school too...) Now, I don't LOVE the name Alexa, but I seriously adore the shortening Lex, so thats what I call her ;) Other names we considered: Rio Scout Dina Isabelle Imogen Esme Adriana FWIW, we decided on her name when i was about 6mo pregnant and she suits alexa/lex down to the ground. My friend named her daughter something quite unusual and it suits her so so so well, you'd think the name was made especially for her!
