I think the poor the uneducated (not through their own faults), the uneducatable* and the sick will always suffer under a government that is 'small'. *My own made up word!

He sounds like one of them Humanists to me! Quite right too!

Since we do not know all the facts of this case, ie. for example whether there were bars/gates in use preventing fire crews from reaching people/flats, or what was going on, should we wait till we do know the facts? Why immediately blame the Council when we don't know if it was someone smoking in bed, or something. We just don't know yet. (Do we?)

What is wrong with this forum? (non ED issues being moved to Lounge)
PeckhamRose replied to Josh's topic in The Lounge
Josh, did you read my post? No, seriously, did you? Read it, read it again, and the others', they make sense. Honest they do. -

But it's not ABOUT ED. Oh Josh come on, you can do better, you know it. -

Josh, consider the titles of the sections. They're clear. GENERAL ED ISSUES AND GOSSIP by its very title implies that anything to do with something happening in, say, Camberwell, would not be an appropriate place. See where we're going? As I wrote after your post on the other thread, the Camberwell fire thread is appropriately placed, as it is in The LOUNGE, ie, other NON East Dulwich things that we are interesting in discussing. Go on, you can get with it, I know you can. Do try and relax - and have fun, and do remember that to the people in East Dulwich whose cats are missing or have died, they MATTER. This is a community. Welcome and play nice! -
What do you mean what is it doing in the lounge? It's not ED specific but we care so we're talking about it in the appropriate place in the forum. Such a sad sad thing to happen and indeed my thoughts go to the friends and families.

I think Murray will lose, Roddick doesn't make the same amount of mistakes. Murray keeps hitting the net!

Back to the original first post, I bet had you stood and took a photo of everyone being happy and content you'd have been arrested too. Pahhh.

Pirate bay is the new Sainsburys........
PeckhamRose replied to woofmarkthedog's topic in The Lounge
Edited since I just read the topic it referred to. Surely the plonk puffing himself up is the new Sainsburys! -
Admin - please can we open a new folder for 'incidents'..
PeckhamRose replied to BQC's topic in The Lounge
It's a good idea but might attract lots of different things like the incident of the missing cat or the incident of the knocked over motorcycle or the incident of the road rage witness or the incident of stolen plants in the park or the incident of the other missing cat - would that be alright? -
Oooh, may I 'come out' and admit I quite like those, AND Battenburg cakes. AND home made prawn cocktail. I am such a seventies child. It'll be Warninks Advocaat next.

LOVED Strawbery Mivvis. These days it's all bloody Magnums.

Back to topic - I can do great lyrics. But I need the music first or at least some idea of the music so I can write to it.

16 minutes - London Victoria to Underhill Road
PeckhamRose replied to Sherwick's topic in The Lounge
Ohhh it terrifies me seeing bikers (and let's not start with cyclists) riding without protective gloves and footwear and so on. Yet I ride in jeans! My jacket is a summer jacket, with armour at elbows and back but with tiny holes all through which is lovely when you're breezing through. And I have a half face helmet indeed... However, if you ARE unlucky and have an accident make sure you have it when I am nearby or someone like me who has just completed a First on Street Scene First Aid course.... And I have a First Aid bag on the bike too. Back to topic... Yes when the lights are in our favour I have done Peckham Rye to Liverpool Street in about 20 mins. This afternoon I have to go to Croydon :( I may go via Brighton :) -
Are you the arse who writes those words on paper stuck on shop windows like Tina's on Grove Vale?

Pat Condell, one of my fave comedians, said years ago as part of his stand up routine, something along the lines. "Who says there's nothing funny about AIDS. If Thatcher got it, I'd fu**in' laugh" Do watch his videos on the website - religious people with no logical or commmon sense will be offended. Well, we know that!

daizie that it a sexist ageist comment you made earlier about them being past it. Men that age are more respected in society, whilst women are being more and more marginalised past the age of 45. A few of them are indeed 'only' in their thirties, but it's the range of subject matters that really irritates me, and makes me realise I am a snob. Wasn't Carol married to Chris Evans? I seem to remember in the good ol' days of BBC London when it was a rock station she and he had a radio show on it together and they were brilliant.

PeckhamRose replied to Sherwick's topic in The Lounge
Leave the flat. Walk down three flights of stairs and to the garage (that's half my exercise for the day...) Get on motorcycle. Ride to Grays Inn Road Park (for free) round the corner of where I need to be. Go to where I need to be. 23 mins door to door, from Peckham Rye East side. Thank f*&k I don't have to do that ride every day! Normally it's: Get up, go to kitchen, make coffee, go to living room. Work. My thoughts are with the commuters these hot days. Well, and ANY days as it goes! -
Does anyone know where I can donate an old computer?
PeckhamRose replied to mrs f's topic in The Lounge
Echoing CharlieCharlie - you can take it to their place in Brandon Street or I believe they'll come collect from you. Computer Recycling In Southwark Project. CRISP or something.... -
Makes me realise what a snob I am, and also makes me realise why so many women are their own worst enemies. But this allows that I watch it. I have watched it. There, I feel better now.

I don't read a lot of novels I must admit but when someone who knows me well recommends I have to read something I try to. Scarlett somebody's The End Of Mr Y just lost me two days work as I had to read it and then read it again immediately I was so captivated. I do want to hear new perspectives on what is going on in the world, I really do, but they have to be well written! But it's like music, and why John Peel was so well loved because he always wanted to hear new music and hear new perspectives on life. Anyway, Marmora Man, when you've had your bike ride you'll be wanting to get a bike and then that will be all your free time taken care of right there.

Now where was I yesterday where I saw William Rose were opening up another shop, maybe on East Dulwich Road? Can't remember. It was near anyway.

Best Place/Area/Road to Live in ED?
PeckhamRose replied to peacem's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I agree. And also don't get hung up on the crime stats. I mean, find a nice house or flat and make friends. Job done.
