  1. Pat Condell, one of my fave comedians, said years ago as part of his stand up routine, something along the lines. "Who says there's nothing funny about AIDS. If Thatcher got it, I'd fu**in' laugh" Do watch his videos on the website - religious people with no logical or commmon sense will be offended. Well, we know that!
  2. daizie that it a sexist ageist comment you made earlier about them being past it. Men that age are more respected in society, whilst women are being more and more marginalised past the age of 45. A few of them are indeed 'only' in their thirties, but it's the range of subject matters that really irritates me, and makes me realise I am a snob. Wasn't Carol married to Chris Evans? I seem to remember in the good ol' days of BBC London when it was a rock station she and he had a radio show on it together and they were brilliant.
  3. Leave the flat. Walk down three flights of stairs and to the garage (that's half my exercise for the day...) Get on motorcycle. Ride to Grays Inn Road Park (for free) round the corner of where I need to be. Go to where I need to be. 23 mins door to door, from Peckham Rye East side. Thank f*&k I don't have to do that ride every day! Normally it's: Get up, go to kitchen, make coffee, go to living room. Work. My thoughts are with the commuters these hot days. Well, and ANY days as it goes!
  4. Echoing CharlieCharlie - you can take it to their place in Brandon Street or I believe they'll come collect from you. Computer Recycling In Southwark Project. CRISP or something....
  5. Makes me realise what a snob I am, and also makes me realise why so many women are their own worst enemies. But this allows that I watch it. I have watched it. There, I feel better now.
  6. I don't read a lot of novels I must admit but when someone who knows me well recommends I have to read something I try to. Scarlett somebody's The End Of Mr Y just lost me two days work as I had to read it and then read it again immediately I was so captivated. I do want to hear new perspectives on what is going on in the world, I really do, but they have to be well written! But it's like music, and why John Peel was so well loved because he always wanted to hear new music and hear new perspectives on life. Anyway, Marmora Man, when you've had your bike ride you'll be wanting to get a bike and then that will be all your free time taken care of right there.
  7. Now where was I yesterday where I saw William Rose were opening up another shop, maybe on East Dulwich Road? Can't remember. It was near anyway.
  8. I agree. And also don't get hung up on the crime stats. I mean, find a nice house or flat and make friends. Job done.
  9. You're opening a can of worms by mentioning 'safety'. It's all relative. Anyway, I'd recommend the SE15 Nunhead side of Peckham Rye Park! A 10 min walk to Nunhead Station (unless you're closer...!) or Peckham Rye about 15 mins.
  10. I pray this works.... Ho ho ho It's 4oD last night's programme Sunday 28th June about the Alpha Course. It was interesting, but more for the sort of people who went, rather than the predictable ones who ran it. I am not a NLP expert (tho I'd go on a course if there was one available), but was there any NLP in this programme? I am sure Mr Ronson would have spotted it. Anyway, er, 'enjoy'! Next week it's Muslims.
  11. Channel Four Jon Ronson 7pm Sunday 28th June 2009. Watch it on 4oD.
  12. They appeared to be heading for the north end of Peckham Rye Park says MrPR.
  13. Do none of you read my posts? Indeed the vibration to local houses will reduce if the bumps are not there when the lorries from the waterworks lorries thunders by.
  14. Nice work, matthew123. Anyway, any blood?
  15. It has 'flat' bumps because the Morrison lorries from the depot requested them to be deflated apparently, till their work is done, then they'll be reflated and the traffic lights taken away.......... and there's that flyin' pig again! I live round the corner from Colyton on Peckham Rye SE15 side. It is a FABULOUS place to live and the park is spectacularly achingly beautiful and is actually my front garden, but I'll let you wonder round it if you don't nick the plants!
  16. > alachlan Wrote: > I'm sure it gives an opportunity to people who > work at Kings to be there during their lunch hour Errr nurses and doctors rarely HAVE lunch hourse. But it will be nice to see the managers, managers' managers, administrators and so on there. I'll be there if I can.
  17. I'm a Member of Kings College Hospital Foundation Trust and have been sent postcards to fill out about this and send off, to her. So I have. What does SMB Jones have to say about this - he must have an opinion one way or another!
  18. The Park is BEAUTIFUL. We are SO LUCKY to have this park. I always thank the worker/gardeners when I see them. This is my front garden you're all in, by the way! I'm in the third floor flat! Pic just taken on mobile in sun so couldn't quite see what I was looking at, but not bad....!
  19. On the east side of the lake, sorry 'pond', there are two benches by the proper seats, that were the lintels / tops of the 'Girls' and 'Boys' entrances to the old school, and they look so good being sat on by older girls and boys! An imaginative idea to re-use them thus. Would be amazed to see those being carried off, but sadly would not be surprised!
  20. On the way back from Clockhouse last night we saw the sad gaps in the displays in the Oval gardens where once there were geraniums. Geraniums are a couple of quid. They probably nicked ten quids' worth. So sad.
  21. oooh ow come you is vipped giggirl?
  22. The Nunhead and Peckham Rye Police Ward Panels meet every 3 months at Harris Girls Academy, 7.00pm. The next one is Thursday 3rd September. Might be a good idea to email your local police or safer neighbourhood thingy and ask them if your road is in this area, or another one. If another one, then find out when that ward panel is and let everyone else on here know it too!
  23. I'm lovely.
  24. But this IS serious stuff in the long run, because the culprit was identified, we know where he lives, and so the police's hard work is done. All they need to do is keep their promises and get the bike and arrest the thief. If they can't do THAT, we can have little faith in them. Check out The Police Pledge - see if they have broken it - it has nothing to do with furniture polish, promise. Go to the police station and make an official complaint and show how it has broken (if it has) that pledge.
