  1. Can't remember what Borough I was riding in on Saturday - Hammersmith and Fulham I think - but already the signs had been changed to show that motorcycles were allowed in the bus lanes on the TfL roads. The news items are saying "most" TfL bus lanes almost to tempt us to get fined. But anyway here is a link to the TfL bus lanes in Central London that we can now ride on And here is the South East London TfL bus lanes link that motorbikes can ride in. (They are quite large PDF files). This is the TfL Bikes in Bus lanes page itself. I appreciate the points of view of those who think that allowing us to undertake (which is technically what we are doing) the main traffic is dangerous in itself. I personally do not see it that way, but shall ride as safely and defensively as ever. Many bus lanes are only bus lanes during certain periods (7.00am to 10.00am; 4.00pm to 7.00pm for example) and myself and many other bikers I know always ride in them when we can (and even some car drivers of course!), and there has never been reports of associated carnage so it should not change now. Indeed the publicity should help. Anyway, safe riding EDFBikers! Hope all this helps. Oh finally this link from www.TheLondonBikers.com a great biking forum which I urge all motorcyclists to join! Edited to add: Motorcycle Industry Association Code of Conduct!
  2. Great being self employed, long as you have work. Woke at 9.30am and saw it snowed outside. And I honestly did think of you all who had to get up early and get on overdrowded overpriced trains and busses to get to work. Honest I did. Just work up again now. What time is it.
  3. Tina's on Grove Vale - near the little DIY shop and KwikFit.
  4. ???? I know what you mean about Broooooce (as my USA Springsteen-loving mate has it on her car's number plate) but he does a few songs which are songs of my life and I can't let go of him. I am so glad no-one has said Billy Joel for the same reason. I never really got Siousxie Sioux then heard MELT which completely changed my attitude. I'll name one though that I REALLY thought was overrated artyfarty nonsense - and I know because I sat through America Parts One Two Three AND four at Hammy Odeon in the eighties - Ladies and Gentlemen I give you (and PLEASE take her) LAURIE ANDERSON. Oh Sooooooooooooperman my arse.
  5. Which one? Just comes up with the main front page.
  6. And my back yard! Noisy sods. They are fighting with starlings and squirrels for the holes in the trees.

  8. What a lovely photo LostThePlot. Shame that Norwich Union is changing it's name to that of a bus company - or near enough that people may confuse it thus. When riding along the roads, there are too many signs. The important ones ie directions, need to be clear and big. The current new ones do just that. Except those stupidly placed behind trees!
  9. What library? They're closing!
  10. Hmmm - I'm a dog but a nice dog. Will that do? ;) ;) Woof.
  11. Oh THOSE. They're horrid. I like the newer bigger ones. I thought you were talking about the REALLY old wooden ones down in Dulwich with the hands pointing in the relevent direction. Now they're worth keeping.
  12. I used to have this pub in my Will - that when I died people should congregate there for a kneesup. I LOVED the Firkin beers and they made Dogbolter on the premises. Then it was sold to Friary Meux and was no more. So I changed my Will! The fabulous clock still dominates the interior though. May even go to this one.
  13. Is that along the lines of - YERP - how posh people say Europe.

It's a brave move that's for sure. I was hoping for Marc Warren!
  15. Marrillion. Phil Collins. Coldplay. You leave Radiohead alone. I would die for Thom Yorke.
  16. Awful experience, glad she's safe and well, but maybe it should be reported to the police another way. Crimestoppers or something like that.
  17. Did you take a note of the car and registration number and note his physical appearance / heigt build hair colour / accent / colour / clothing / distinguishing marks yourself, so that if anyone does now experience this you can say whether it was the same person or not.
  18. At what junctions were the signs you mention?
  19. Can I bring my dog?
  20. And also pay your taxes you self employed peeps by 31st Jan! Where's the meeting, Eric?
  21. "Travels with Macy" by the vet Bruce Fogle, father of Ben, who is married to Julia whatsit who was in Half a Sixpence and 50 yrs later the Esure ads with CalmDownDear Mr Winner. Anyway, this book was his attempt to travel around USA with his Labrador in an RV (recreational vehicle) following the footsteps of John Steinbeck and Travels with Charley. Bruce is neither a good writer nor a travel guide. I was very frustrated as he passed through towns without telling us anything about them let alone his views which may have been good or bad. He did talk about the environment, from the view of his gas guzzler, and his views on the way animals are treated in USA, but really the book was a cheap shot and had he not been who he was (married to or father of) I don't think he'd have had a chance of writing it! Deeply disappointed. Yet I have to recommend Looking for America by Ian Mutch. It is self published, has quite a few spelling errors, but so what, it is passionate, fascinating, and funny. And the second best USA travel guide book I have read after Mr Steinbeck's himself. Mr Mutch does it on his Harley.
  22. I seem to remember there were a lot of old roadsigns with hands pointing to the relevant road at the end of the wooden sign, sort of part of the carving, and these are in Dulwich village or roads pointing to it. My memory tells me that Souhtwark Council in its regular branding exercise all councils feel they need to do, were told good and proper by the locals to leave those old signs where they were, or else! So they may be worth visiting. Don't know if there's a sign for the signs though, so you'd best come and visit.
  23. ... The Surrendered Wife. The Old Testament The New Testament
  24. Saw it in at Dalston Heights and - although it was a bit misty - could still see the spectacular fireworks on the Eye! Drank lots of mulled wine with port, from the flasks, and had a lovely time. Award for something goes to the dogs on Dalston Heights who were totally non plussed by all the fireworks even those on the Heights themselves! Cool Dogs!
