  1. "Please contact us at [email protected] or ring 0207 033 2315 and leave your name and contact details and we will get straight back to you." Anyone got Councillor Kim Humphreys' mobile phone number?
  2. Yeah, who is in it? Then we can spend our afternoon on IMDB instead of working.
  3. MrsM, not sure if the Nunhead and Peckham Rye Community Council is the right geographical community Council for that area. Check out Southwark's webpage - I've linked to the Dulwich Community Council page.
  4. I worked with her Dad once. I think you're on to a winner. Copyright it quick. I'll facebook him.
  5. I have just found an "A". Anyone know where it came from?
  6. Sometimes I don't want to say what I really feel because I may meet those I may inadvertently offend at a future date. Certainly I have received very personal offensive PMs from people who happened to disagree with my point of view and I would want to thump them if I met them! Sometimes I say exactly what I think and worry not what people say, reasoning that I'll never meet them. I'd start a thread saying: "What would you want to say if you really really were face to face with GBrown/B Obama / Kim Humphreys (Head of Southwark Housing who is a tory spindoctor) etc etc but then I think, what would be the point? We won't meet them and they don't read this forum DO YOU KIM you pointless nasty career-politician you! I did start the thread that went something like "What would you do if you were the big boss of Southwark Council which got several pages to my surprise. I'm bored by my own response, now.
  7. Phew, we'll be alright then.... Anyone been to Sipson? It's lovely and the pub serves a mighty fine beer. Howabout the next after next EDF drinks goes over there? I'd turn up to that!
  8. My point is I don't have the courage of my convictions and dreams to reclaim the language. It's not just the people concerned who are not all the same and not all offended by it specially when they know it is not being used offensively, either. It is liberals and language fascists (not at ALL suggesting anyone on this forum is - making a general point is all) who tell me what words I can and can't use that really pee me off.
  9. Email this department of Southwark Council. [email protected] Give them number plate if still there, and basic description of car and where it is. Edited to add that, whilst they say they won't remove it till car tax runs out, you could try and say it is causing an obstuction (if it is) and also email the police to suggest that it may have been nicked. [email protected] For some reason the "uk" is not joining the rest of the email address when you click it! Grrrr
  10. Were you not able to go, AllForNun?
  11. Sounds like a scene from series 3 or 4 of X Files.
  12. To quote myself, "To play devil's advocate for a minute". I was just seeing what people say. Chris Rock said black people (is it still okay to say black people?) - black people call bad black people "niggers". I wouldn't!
  13. Hm. "being called a Paki even if you're from Pakistan or not is disrespecful and most certainly a derogatory remark" You are tarring everyone with the same brush. To play devil's advocate for a minute, if I were to use the term I would not be being racist, because I am not. And I have met people who originated from Pakistan who are not offended by it and refuse to be offended by it. If the supposed offendee refused to feel offended then the offender has lost his power. Defining anyone by where they come from - is it as offensive as describing anyone by their illness, or the colour of their eyes.
  14. It's 9.33. Apart from 33 minutes off my resolution, what did I miss?
  15. So it's pretty much in the bag then.
  16. Doesn't wood float?
  17. Wow! Come on Eileen! I hope it will make the bu**ers sit up and listen a bit more attentively to your wise words and very good common sense!
  18. SteveT what a courageous comment you made. Is this really true? Only a woman could have helped? Could not a man have even phoned the police or ambulance anonymously to help? Big questions here.
  19. Well WHO WAS THAT! You teeeeeeeeeeeeease. Thanks Joe. I half feel I did not miss anything!
  20. Well I "might" find that "they" don't like the term, but I have not seen their views represented. I suppose I am arguing over the mis-use of language, and arksking that we reclaim our common sense.
  21. Should we try and reclaim the language? I mean, someone from Spain is Spanish, someone from Pakistan is Pakistani or Paki for short. I have absolutely no offensive bone in my body to want to hurt someone, so I would say it in that context. I object that people would term me racist when clearly my intention is not. I am not naive but I get sooo confused over Political Correctness and the fascistic interpretation of language imposed upon me by others. I need to go out and ask Pakistanis what term they would prefer I think. No-one else is!
  22. I travel by plane, because I can. But should west of London be our travel terminal? I see both sides of the argument. I remember when archeologists found the remains of the original Rose Theatre when contractors were digging the foundations of some office block in the early 80s, and there was a festival and attempts to save the Rose. One of the actors was John Sessions and he did a great turn as a oyster fisherman living in the 16th Century, who was right peed off that these people were going to be building yet another theatre ruining his trade. He had a point! I have often been round Sipson and Harlington and the areas to be flattened, they're pretty village green areas. Not quiet, of course, but pretty. What are your views? Or has this thread been started before. If so, sorry!

Because I am having a crap week. Damn.
  24. Thanks ????! That's so comforting! It's 11.00 and I feel better already having read your post! You've been up five hours? Wow. No seriously, Wow.
  25. Or "revolutionary" in the title. This one does not, to be fair, but just saying. What interested me was that I read the line, "looking at Brits who buck the trend of our reserved nation and who aren?t afraid to" and then my eyes went to the next line hoping for the words to read something positive, like "aren't afraid to build something people may not like at the beginning but grow to love (Peckham Library - The Home Office - the flats on Vauxhall Bridge Road now Grade 2 listed for example) or "aren't afraid to wear stripes and spots together...." "aren't afraid to visit countries with poor sanitation...." "aren't afraid to be brave and English and eccentric" (Boris, Jeremy, for bad examples) But no. "aren't afraid to" - be negative and whinge. Yawn. (Apologies, not well and do not think I made the above point well enough but sure most of you will get my point!)
