  1. giggirl, you're so clever! You're the reason I prefer to go to movies alone in case a companion tells me what happens! It's bad enough watching Hustle with a clever spouse.
  2. I agree that if you are looking for long term relationship then certain things like political views and whether you want kids are not are very important. But for now, just get the jewellery and have a laugh then move on.
  3. This form is elsewhere on the Lounge thread, but to my mind it is best to ensure as many of us see it as possible. COMPLAIN to the Advertising Standards Authority about "definitely" HERE.
  4. He has apologised. So that's alright then...
  5. Me. With a different name. And I still didn't go last night!
  6. I think that's not a total snowbear - I think some poor sod's G-Wiz is underneath that....
  7. I really wish you the best of luck, having "gotten away with" (been found innocent with no evidence) two tickets recently. I would also strongly suggest (and this is a matter of a lot of people) people power going to community councils when there are parking people there (and they often attend) to discuss this sort of situation.
  8. Thanks very much for this! Done. And the product is "God"!
  9. Brilliant bus advert LuvPeckham. Have a great time everyone.
  10. Oh see now that's just brilliant.
  11. It's a really nice idea and thanks for the link. I can also recommend Freecycle.
  12. warm some fish in 1/2 pint hot milk till the fish flakes. put fish aside and melt an ounce of flour and ounce of butter in the milk till it all mixes and thickens. Put 4oz of grated cheese and the fish back in sauce with some salt and pepper. put the lot in casserole dish with new potatoes gas 6 for 30 mins. Or I may just get a Chinese.
  13. Police lose the Lost Property. My hubbie lost his keys near his garage. Coincidentally there were some police nearby and they found them, so they took them to the Lost Property department and one of the police told him his colleague had done this. So he went to collect them, but they did not know where they were. He went every single day for nine days. On the Friday they said to come back tomorrow. On the Saturday he was told Lost property is closed weekends. He went on the Monday, and still noone knew where these keys were, yet it was the police who had handed them in. Finally, a civil officer sorted everything about nine days later and he was reunited with his keys. So put notices up on trees, advertise on the local press, in this forum, and through pigeon post but for the love of a God I do not believe in, do not hand them in to the police. As for the message below this. YES! Too true!
  14. yeah and once you have been to the cinema (if there is one) and the one theatre (if there is one) and the few restaurants, and walked along the river, what else is there to do in these places? It takes me more than a week to read London's Time Out, by which time the next edition comes out and I have not been out the house yet!
  15. Slumdog is NOT a feelgood movie. It contains scenes of child torture. After that though, it's quite the best film I have seen for a year.
  16. Was it raining in the bar, or is that question hopelessly uncool?
  17. The price of bread in markets stalls. I make mine for equivalent of about ?0.40 inc. electricity in the bread machine I got off someone in here.
  18. Brilliant.
  19. The irony screamed out at me, too. You could email the local police Safer Neighbourhood Teams and ask them what they think, you know.
  20. Not a betting shop, then. I bet.
  21. But I am with Bellenden Belle. There is not a finite amount of compassion we can give people. Jade will be getting support from her family and friends and the Royal Marsden where I believe she is being treated. I feel compassion for her, for her kids, as well as all the other people in the world who need compassion. It's not about more or less. Where do you draw that line?
  22. Yup.
  23. So which pub are we meeting at. What time Friday? I may make that one!
  24. And another thing. Whilst no-one should feel pressurised ever to do so, I think it is a good thing for some people (like Terry Pratchett for example with alzheimers) to live out their illness and ultimate dying in public. It's controversial I know and maybe for another thread, but if we see how it affects some people and they are more open about it, then this can be a good thing as we will all learn from it. But as I said, that's probably for another thread. I can't imagine what she and her kids are going through. But by seeing dramas like the Julie Waters one and another one a few years written by and starring Emma Thompson, we can all learn just that little bit more about how illnesses take their toll and how NHS can or can't deal with them. And if we don't like them we can always not watch or read about it.
  25. Errr... ok!!!
