Individual managers are not much use then when they can not help with problems people have which involve the bigger corporate issues, like buying tickets. I don't travel regularly on the trains so I don't need a season ticket, but if I want to buy one in advance and the ticket booth is shut, the ticket machines won't sell tickets for travel beyond that day.

I hate the Boots in Peckham, the staff are usually so miserable even to those of us who are polite and friendly! And I would not say it is big. The one in Lewisham is big. I agree that independent pharmacies would be in keeping with the Lordship Lane way of doing things, but they have to sell what people want. Like Boots hand cream, Boots bubble bath, Boots foot spa stuff, Boots Evening Primrose Oil talcum powder...

Oh we've ALL done that.

Meanwhile, louisa I am so sorry you have problems accepting London's faults, but one thing that I loved about yesterday was that people talked with one another even if - as I witnessed in the park - some of them were "talking" to a woman who was telling her little kid not to throw a snowball. People were helping each other and meeting up and building snowmen together. It was great. I am going to Lordship Lane to take some photos for someone and hope to see more of the same.

Thanks HeidiHi, but to be slightly pedantic, much of the above was in (coughsplutter) Peckham ;) enid that is a great photo! It was fabulous to be out on the park and common and just see people getting along and having fun with one another! My god, I even saw strangers talking with one another!
