Peckham Rye Fete - Feedback/Photos on FOPRP Yahoo Grp
PeckhamRose replied to boosboss's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I don't think changing the dates will guarantee better weather. We have warm dry days in November sometimes! It's just Luck. It's more likely people will come in September since the kids are back in school so people are back from holidays. -

Peckham Rye Fete - Feedback/Photos on FOPRP Yahoo Grp
PeckhamRose replied to boosboss's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I loved it. Me and friends arrived about 2pm to the beginning of the dog shows. I made a carrot cake with added dates and walnuts and a rather a lot of lush topping. To be frank I made two, but kept one for me. What did anyone think of it? We went back to the stall about 30 mins later and it had all been sold! Didn't see anyone clutching their stomachs and throwing up so should have been okay. Anywayyyy I love the Fete. I don't care about the weather. It's just such a fun thing to do but looking at the entire crowd of people there I would not say it is representative of the good folk of Peckham Rye. I am not a dog owner but I do love dogs and the dog show is always fun specially in these days when dogs and their owners are given bad press. I witnessed the deep joy of a mum and her two daughters when one of her labradors won a 4th prize waggiest tail prize. It just was a sunny moment. Let's be unPCly frank, the dog show did not include a representation of the dogs I see every day, either! I spoke with a councillor about the police and the police did not come with their bus (though I was at the Police Ward Panel meet on Thursday when they said they would be) because apparently the police get a bit upset that no-one comes to their stall! I think next year the local SaferNeighbourhoodTeams being the Council Wardens, the Park Wardens, the local SPCOs and police should have a stall. I will try to raise it when I see them and maybe the Friends could approach them too. I did not see the Peckham Society stall. Did I miss it? Who was the dog show judge? We wanted to appeal three decisions and ask for a doping test, the greyhound should have got the waggiest tail award but couldn't lift his tail once. Something Very Wrong! A great afternoon. Topped yesterday when I went to the Regent Street Festival. The entire street was closed to traffic and lined with stalls and a ferris wheel. It was fabulous fun. I took photos from the top of the wheel of the length of Regents Street full of people. Can we have a ferris wheel next year or even better a tethered Hot Air Balloon? Ask the couple who are members of the Peckham Society who are members of balloon clubs in London and give talks on the history of ballooning, of which South London plays a big part! A great day, Boosboss, really had fun. Thanks for all your hard work. Edited to add: I took a lot of dog photos so happy to post some up maybe on my Flickr account and I am sure I got great ones of the Great Dane and his mates! I shall post here when they are on my Flickr account or may just post them here. -
Or 78 from Tower Bridge stops on the same road as The Duke nearly outside ir or near enough. Have fun everyone.

I understand that what happened is the police were alerted to the state of the place and the fact that there were a lot of burglaries there, and they read this forum to see what was going on(!) and then called in Trading Standards. The staff were (or should that be 'was' - no, sounds wrong, I'll stick with 'were') fired, and the place cleaned up. Crime is being designed out.

Oh go on, I am sure you can!

Not the only way. Motorcycle. It's the other way. But what MarmoraMan said other than that! -
Me neither. But me too. But did it?

Westminster Council about to charge for motorcycle parking
PeckhamRose replied to kford's topic in The Lounge
In order to pay your one pound fifty to park your motorcycle in an unsecured bike park (ie someone could lift it to the edge or off the bay area because Westminster have not bothered putting rails in the bike bays yet), you have to text your reg no and a space and the day you want or something and a space and then something else, and if you make a mistake you won't know you've made a mistake. Not till you get home and find they have not emailed you a confirmation - because you made a mistake. And if you made a mistake and find you did not get a confirmation email, that means you've just found out you parked illegally even though you were sure you did everything correct. Which means a parking fine will arrive shortly or will be stuck to the bike of course. If you want a TEXT to your mobile for confirmation that your text was correctly sent, that's more money. -
Edgar Kail is the man who in the 1920s played for Dulwich Hamlets. And England. I read somewhere. I remember when that store first opened they tried to attract you posh SE22ers by selling stuff like edible flowers, picked and presented all nice in plastic trays. You ungrateful lot.

California. Hang the expense and carbon footprint. Dollar's not quite as in your favour as it was when I was there April, but still a fab place to be. Or somewhere closer, Spain. Friend just got back from South of France and it was warmer and drier in UK!

Not all cats are hunters! My cat's bloody useless, terrified of the pigeons and squirrels that come up on the balcony and runs back in. She's brave with moths but only because she knows they can escape and fly away, and she can make out it wasn't her fault. Sorry but I say kill the mice. You can get mousetraps in black boxes so as to spare your feelings....

It's me. No, wait, I'm the mysterious ugly. Don't deserve to be loved. ;)

What they charge for soy sauce is a crime. So I get mine in Chinatown.

Maybe we shouldn't wish for a Waitrose in place of our Somerfield...

Should we have a Harrods? -
If there were no lights there, but roundabouts instead, encouraging people to think for themselves and make decisions and be sensible, then what happened would not be illegal. But we're in a society where our abilities to learn to make decisions and informed choices and practice our art of common sense are being killed off by politicians and councils and Big Brother. But the signs say don't turn right and you did. Pay up. I am fighting one in Westminster Council. I parked on a double yellow Line. I will pay but only when they explain why they put the fine in an envelope saying "This is a warning only you do not need to pay"! I shall let that one go to court I think.

Me. Wait. I'm not decent. Well, no need when I'm at home. Check out Thames Water's website for what they're up to and/or phone the number on the various boardings around the site on Colyton Road.

But you used the phrase "client group" above! Clearly they blew their chances. Sorry you did not get shortlisted. I am not in this world of employed/PAYE work at all but MrRose and lots of friends are who also work in public sector and one thing is for sure: the best person for the job will never get the job as long as they don't fulfil criteria laid down by politicians and quangos, and live in the real world. When they started to call patients "clients" or user groups is when I started to realise me and that world was parting company. No, wait, it was when Personnel became Human Resources.
