Westminster Council about to charge for motorcycle parking
PeckhamRose replied to kford's topic in The Lounge
Also there is a booklet Piaggio sponsored with all the bike parks listed but I am not sure where you can get them from now. A new site which also lists them (but asks for us all to help them update it for the benefit of all of us bikers) is www.scoopark.co.uk It's a different one to the one mentioned by SMcG. -

Seems to be the definite answer there, and this coming from someone called Beef! :D beef Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The best vegan marge for cakes is Tomor, comes in > a block like butter, so is great for pastry making > too. Yup, but it will get lonely and may pine (palm?) for more of its mates with him. The row of Palm trees and yukkas on the Peckham stretch sometimes look a bit badly kept. They're tough trees, but they do need a bit of tending to since they are not in their natural habitat. I hope they develop a healthy defence against car fumes. They remind me of holidays too. Your post is right and appropriate SmG!

You were back after just fifteen minutes? Wow. I queue for half an hour in that place sometimes. I concur with your experience of that place and also agree the reason: Southwark Council DDebit screwed up my account too so I pay Council Tax and Service Charges by cash! It's a nice walk down there, though...

But . . . splutter .... cough.... it's not LONDON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I now need a bag for my bags. I got one from The British Humanist Association, Sopers Fishmongers on Evelina Road Nunhead, The Co-operative on Forest Hill Road, and a few others. Still not found one saying ILovePeckham and hope there's some left in Acorns of ILoveEastDulwich, too. Or Snub.

I only ever use oil in carrot cake (as well as carrots and all the other ingredients!) In fact I have no imagination as a cook but my recipe says use oil. And if it works in that....!

I think on you lots next pub crawl you should make notes of all the prices in all the pubs and copy them up here. Would be mighty interesting. Totally inpractical by the end of the crawl, of course, but interesting! -
He's home but is he okay? Does he have any excuse/story/fleas? Great news though and thanks for letting us know.

Post Office delivery problems again?
PeckhamRose replied to char1ie's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
This is not just an SE22 problem. I have lost several ebay items too either as sender or expectant receiver. Probably not just a SE15 and SE22 problem, either. -
2 reasons why mainstream "telly" will deteriorate further
PeckhamRose replied to SeanMacGabhann's topic in The Lounge
My school was crap. TV was my education. And continues to be so. But yes drama output is down considerably because it is so expensive to produce. In the days of the Wednesday play people had little else to do, or chose to do little else... But now to invest in a new drama even by an established writer is such a risk it's barely done. Even one off dramas tend to be written by very well known writers. And let's face it now there is little else worthy of watching other than intelligent dramas, great comedies, and of course TopGear. Oh, and documentaries. We still make good documentaries. Oh and cartoons. giggirl Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I don't have a TV; haven't had one for years. > Every minute you spend in front of the box is a > wasted minute. Can highly recommend anything you may see advertised as being at The Great Debating Chamber in London County Hall. Yup, the one Ken Livingstone lived in before he took a break as an MP then returning up the river... Saw Andy McQuade in two one man shows Saturday, and he was wonderful, but the theatre itself was the most unusual and beautiful venue! You get to sit in comfy leather seats with little desks in front of you!

Another idea for picnic space which I did yesterday. But not in ED! Check the tide tables and eat on the Thames "beach". Yesterday I found myself at the beach which is accessible by stairs right next to the Surrey Docks Farm. There is a quite a bit of sand but the rest of it is rocks and stones, so take a fold up table and chairs (!!!) Orrr as in my case, just sit on the stairs. Absolutely lovely, totally alone, and when the pleasure tourist boats come by you can wave at them, and also see the Isle of Dogs buildings across the river. No, seriously, it was absolutely devine. Walking up the stairs leading to the door to the beach, there are blackberries so had some of them too! And to my shock when I walked around Surrey Docks Farm itself, on a sign right in front for all to see, they advertise the fact they're now selling organic lamb and pork!!

It's an innocent little one but I can't help grinning at the opening lines of Four Weddings and a Funeral. As someone who did a scriptwriting MA and a million courses before that, one is taught this sort of thing is cliche or childish. An EngLit graduate with her first placement in a film company or agency as a reader or scripteditor would read that opening (and maybe the whole script!) and say it was too cute or affected. But it worked, and I love it.

Recommendations: 1) What kistanbul said below. 2) Or get it from the wild and dry it over an oven OR go to PeterJones type places or DIY store and buy some. Certaibly works in our wardrobes. 3) Also, for summer months put the winter bedding in hoover suction bags (available from Peter Jones type shops and I think I saw some in Woolworths) where you seal the bedding/clothes in a bag and then get the hoover attachment over the hole and it sucks the air out, saving lots of space, but also then bugs can't get in. 4) AND have a cat! Woke up this morning (cue for a song) and the remains of about four very large moths littered the carpet. kistanbul Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Buy a big bag of dried lavender from ebay/craft > shop. I really don't have an issue with great and profound swearing. Including the CUNextTuesday word, which I use now and again myself with no embarrassment. If everyone swore it would lose its ability to offend. And the sooner that happens the better for all of us. And anyone who thinks otherwise are a bunch of Cun*s. But to read it regularly or even occasionally on a Forum? Hmm. Let's think. Mmm. Nahhhh phuckit that don't bother me either.

When she was a little girl, the daughter of Judi Dench was in the Nativity play playing the Innkeeper's wife. A few reporters turned up to watch as the great actress Herself was there in the audience. After the show, a reporter leant down to the little girl and asked what the Nativity is all about. "Well, it's about this Innkeeper's Wife..."

Have a wonderful time everyone.

Japanese Garden or the picnic area itself with tables (something for the ants to climb up) Peckham Rye Park or there's a little park up Telegraph Hill (I think we're talking New Cross) but it's a do-able walk away. I also agree Brenchley Gardens. But also, if these things don't bother you and they certaibnly don't bother me, Nunhead Cemetery.

An elderly man I used to work for, lives in Chelsea, and tried living in the country for 2 years in his late 60s. He came back saying "ALl there is in the country is the same road to get home via, and artifical insemination". He had a great view of life. And he also hated faxes and emails saying he preferred his urgent news to mature in the post. He inspired me so, and he made me realise just how wonderful London even when you have no money.
